Once your lights are in place, start adding additional faux greenery or garlands to add texture and variant colour This is also a great trick to fill any big gaps in your tree and make it look extra full!

GARLIC MASHED POTATOES RECIPE
Ok friends! This is the real deal! I always grew up with my mom's mashed potato recipe being THE BEST I'd ever had We used to joke that it was the "dirty farm well water" that made them so good, since none of us kids could replicate it at our own homes as adults
Until I found this recipe (sorry mom)! I was watching Joanna Gaines on Thanksgiving weekend, and had to try her recipe. I can't imagine anything topping this recipe! Thanks Joanna you're forever my favourite lifestyle celeb, and this just solidifies it
40 mins total including cooling time
6 8 large Yukon gold potatoes, scrubbed 1tbsp plus 1 tsp of kosher salt
garlic cloves (3 cloves lightly smashed for the boiling water, 1 clove grated for butter)
2 sticks of salted butter
cup of cream or milk
tsp of freshly ground black pepper
ounces cream cheese
cup sour cream
Boil the potatoes in a large pot with 1 tbsp of salt and the 3 smashed garlic cloves until potatoes are very soft (15 20 mins) Drain thoroughly, and remove garlic cloves
Mix in the remainder of ingredients and whip until soft Serve hot Store leftovers in a covered container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days

Cheese Meats Crackers
Cheese is a staple for charcuterie boards. Not sure how much cheese to buy? Aim to serve 2 to 3 ounces of cheese per person. Pick a few high-quality hard and soft cheeses from your local deli.
Always include salty and savory charcuterie meats on your cheese board. Thin slices of prosciutto, salami, or soppressata are easy to grab and pair perfectly with the creamy cheese and crackers.
A variety of crackers and/or fresh bread or crostini are necessary on your winter charcuterie. Use them to hold your soft and spreadable cheeses or top them with meat, fruit, or a slice of hard cheese.
This is the fun part! These extras will fill your board with plenty of colours, flavours, and seasonal flare. You can use a variety of fresh or dried fruit, nuts, pickled things, and fresh herbs. You can also add decor like sprigs of holly, mistletoe, ornaments, or even twinkly lights!
