CYM Prayer Diary - 2025 Issue 3

Page 1

We are ‘full steam ahead’ as we approach the end of another academic year—where has the time gone?! It only feels like last week that we were starting the year, looking ahead to all that God would do through our team in schools and at the campsite. Now, we’ve reached the point in the year when the campsite team is growing weary from their incredible work with visiting groups, and our Chaplains are pushing through to the end of term, striving to be a positive encouragement in schools where students and staff alike are feeling the pressure of exams and assessments. Yet, God continues to be good! We’ve experienced many wonderful moments this year where children, young people, and the adults working with them have encountered the love and grace that Jesus offers through our various programmes and approaches.

Our prayer guide for the next three months is included, giving each team member the opportunity to share a glimpse into their day-to-day work. We are so grateful that you continue to support us through prayer.

You’ll also find information about our Basecamp days for home-educated young people, upcoming dates for The Gathering youth events, and details about the CYM Gap Year. If you know any young people or families who might be interested, please do pass this information on.

Once again, thank you for your support— both prayerfully and financially. You keep us going in so many ways! We wish you a wonderful summer season.

WEEK 1 - JO

Pray for students leaving Suffolk One -whether starting university, apprenticeships, or employment—that they would know peace, confidence, and hope as they step into the future.

Give thanks for all the staff—pray they enjoy a restful summer, feel refreshed, and return renewed and ready to embrace the opportunities of a new academic year.

WEEK 2 - AIMEE

Pray for Year 6 students as they say goodbye to friends and staff. May they leave with joy and step into their next adventure with courage and hope.

Thank God for the opportunities I’ve had at St Matthew’s to bless and impact both staff and students. May the seeds sown there continue to grow and bear lasting fruit.

WEEK 3 - BECKIE

As I reflect on my first year as Chaplain for the Raedwald Trust, I thank God for His provision, love, and guidance throughout every step of this journey.

Please pray for all students who have left Raedwald. May their transition into new settings be smooth and peaceful, bringing hope for the exciting journey ahead.

WEEK 4 - JOSH

As I reflect on this summer’s Basecamp season, I thank God for His blessings, guidance, and presence with us throughout these past weeks.

Pray for the new academic year—that the ‘quiet revival’ will grow! May God move powerfully, doing more than we could ever dream, ask for, or imagine.

Pray for my family— for rest and renewal this holiday. Bless our eldest son as he finishes university, and our youngest as he begins his journey into student life.

Pray for new students transitioning from school to college. Especially for those who feel alonemay they find confidence, connection, and form new, life-giving friendships.

Pray for rest and refuelling for staff and students during the summer break. May they return renewed, ready to grow, flourish, and embrace the opportunities of the year ahead.

Please pray for me as I transition in my role. May this summer bring rest and reset for our family, renewing our strength and unity for the months ahead.

Please pray for the CYM team as they reflect on this year and prepare for September. Pray for strengthened relationships and a fresh anointing on their roles and ministry.

Please pray for complete rest and recharge for all staff this summer. May they fully relax, find joy in their break, and return refreshed and renewed for the year ahead.

It’s a long summer break for students. I ask God to protect and keep them safe, watching over them and bringing peace to their families throughout this time.

As I prepare for the new term, I pray God grants me fresh ideas to share His love and truth effectively with both staff and students.

Some of the Campsite team, including volunteers, are doing First Aid training this week. I thank God for all the hours they’ve given in service through CYM.

Please pray for Beth and me as we rest together this summer. May we find peace, joy, and a renewal of energy to face the months ahead.

Please pray that God continues to reveal new ideas and vision for CYM’s Campsite ministry at Vauxhall. May His guidance inspire and equip me to serve faithfully.

Please pray for safe travels to Croatia for the “Renewing Our Minds” conference. May I learn well from others across Europe and gain fresh, innovative ideas to bring back.

CYM TEAM GATHERING (21ST)

WEEK 1 - PHILIP

God has provided wisdom and support throughout my first year, guiding me through a steep learning curve. I pray His wonderful guidance continues to lead and strengthen me always.

Please pray that I learn to fully accept God’s strength and let go of my default tendency to rely on myself. May I trust Him more each day.

WEEK 2 - SIMON

During peak holiday season, work continues preparing for the new school year. Please pray for the office-based team - for focus, energy, and unity as we carry out this important work.

WEEK 3 - ANT

As a Chaplain, I’m called to be a minister of God’s grace. Please pray I deeply know this and express His grace in school and with the CYM team.

This time of year gives me space to dream and imagine. Please pray I embrace these moments fully and prioritise them well to inspire and shape our work ahead.

Please pray for the staff in the student support area, that they receive strength and wellbeing throughout the coming year.

Please pray that I can nurture small seeds of community engagement with the school and help them grow, strengthening the connection between the school and the wider local community.

I wear many hats in life, including School Chaplain. Please pray God helps me manage my time wisely, so I can give my best to every role I hold.

Before summer ends, Chaplains will use the new bereavement resource, ‘The Memory Garden’. Please pray God brings comfort, peace, and healing to those we walk with in loss.

WEEK 4 - HENRY

Many team members and volunteers are enjoying well-earned rest this summer. Please pray they find refreshment and peace, renewing body, mind, and spirit.

The NG Summer camp starts soon. Let’s pray it impacts young people’s lives and that the blessing overflows, spreading hope and joy to others.

WEEK 5 - FRANKIE

As Basecamp season ends, let’s pray for all involved. May the seeds planted flourish and grow, bringing lasting fruit in their lives.

Please pray for our amazing volunteers. We need more team members—pray for new people to join and support the work with energy and passion.

The ‘NG’ summer camp at Vauxhall is coming soon. Pray that the young people are deeply impacted and see Jesus’ love and character reflected in Beth and her team.

After a busy, challenging year, I look forward to holiday. Please pray I can truly switch off, rest deeply, and find restoration for body, mind, and spirit.

My role has a strong focus on our financial health. Pray for increased income, fresh ideas, and the right opportunities to support and advance our mission.

I often wonder how students I mentor are coping this summer. Please pray those facing hardship and loneliness find comfort and hope.

As GCSE results arrive on the 21st, please pray students know their worth and significance come from Jesus’ love— whatever their outcomes.

I’m excited to greet students and staff, old and new, at the gates. Lord, help me show Your welcome and acceptance with joy and gladness!

Outside CYM, I chair Suffolk Christian Camps at Sizewell Hall. Please pray the camps run smoothly and all attending encounter Jesus in a fresh, exciting way.

Our next ‘Gathering’ event is in September. Please pray many young people attend, connect with God, and are moved by worship and prayer. I’m overwhelmed by the support and sponsorship for NG camp. Let’s thank God for His provision, enabling many young people to attend and be blessed.

Please pray for Josh and me as we plan September and October camps. Pray for wisdom and for God to stay central in all we do.

Please pray as we reflect on this year’s schools and groups. We’re grateful for all that’s happened and ask for continued blessings ahead.

Please pray for me as I prepare for surgery. May I feel God’s presence before, during, and after— bringing peace, healing, and strength throughout.

NG CAMP (17TH - 21ST)

Please pray for our new headteacher at Ipswich Academy, starting this September. May they be guided with wisdom, strength, and grace to lead the school well and inspire students and staff.

WEEK 2 - ABI

We pray for staff entering the first full week back after summer holidays. May God fill them with strength, joy, and compassion as they serve with renewed passion.

We thank God for all the young people who attended our summer camp. We pray their experiences will leave a lasting, positive impact on their lives and faith journeys.

Now that NG has run for several years, many young people are turning 18. I pray God grants us wisdom to support them well in this new season.

I thank God for all the volunteers who support our projects. Please pray God continues to bring the right people to join and strengthen our team for His work.

September brings new initiatives in school and community. Please pray for God’s guidance, creativity, and inspiration as we embark on fresh opportunities to serve and make a difference.

We pray for students settling into new routines. May healthy, strong friendships form, helping them support and encourage one another through the challenges and joys ahead.

WEEK 3 - TOM

Please pray for all new students we welcome. May they settle quickly, feel comfortable, and discover joy in new ways of learning and growing throughout the year.

Let’s pray for all staff, new and returning, to settle smoothly into the new school year. May they give their best in supporting and encouraging every student’s growth.

WEEK 4 - LUCY

Today, we thank God for the incredible work He is doing in the hearts of children and young people. May His goodness and love shine brightly in their lives!

Please pray that God fills our Chaplains with His Holy Spirit and leads them in their work. May He bless them with favour, wisdom, and boldness every day.

We lift up the headteachers across Raedwald Trust sites. May this year be marked by unity, support, and friendship as they collaborate to lead with wisdom and grace.

We thank You, God, for the Raedwald Trust and the blessing it is to students benefiting from alternative provision, offering hope and opportunity beyond mainstream education.

As Beckie and I work closely this year, we pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance and inspiration, bringing fresh ideas and projects that clearly demonstrate God’s love.

ACTIVITY SESSIONS - GREAT LEIGH (20TH) SIMON AT CAPEL METHODIST (21ST)

Please pray for me as I seek new ways to connect and support students and staff across both settings. May God guide and empower me to serve effectively.

Please pray for the Christian unions at both colleges.May they grow in number and spirit, drawing more people to get involved and deepen their faith.

Please pray for me as I seek God’s direction on where to be and what to do across both sites with many buildings. May He guide my steps clearly and wisely.

Recently, I’ve enjoyed networking with fellow School Chaplains in different places. Please pray God leads and encourages us as we share ideas and learn from one another’s experiences.

Our Chaplains are using ‘Starfish’ mentoring from the Salvation Army. Please pray this resource fosters meaningful, lasting growth and wholeness for the children and young people they support.

Please pray for God’s blessing on our relationships with schools, especially between Chaplains and their in-school line managers. May school staff see Chaplaincy through God’s loving eyes and heart.

The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along the right paths, bringing honour to his name. ’
