ESITS

Building on our industryleading safety expertise, SIMIAN has responded to requests from the events sector for specialist training and accreditation for those working on temporary demountable structures.

Together with leading businesses in the sector we have established the Event Structures Industry Training Scheme (ESITS).

ESITS is a nationally recognised and industry-led training scheme for those involved in the control, planning, design, build, inspection, use and striking of proprietary Temporary Demountable Structures in the events, media, film, leisure, and entertainment industries.

The aim of the scheme is to assure event organisers and employers that those accredited by ESITS have undertaken quality training and have been assessed as having the required levels of knowledge and skills in the relevant level of the Temporary Demountable Structure qualification.

ESITS is underpinned by a formal crew card scheme that verifies card holders and their accreditations to employers and other stakeholders.

More information about ESITS, and the training courses and accreditation levels outlined above, can be found at www.esits.co.uk

Scaffolder

Our scaffolder apprenticeships typically run for between 18 and 24 months and operate from our training sites in Warrington, Waltham Forest and Weston-super-Mare.

Employers are responsible for actively supporting their apprentices in the workplace to build on and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours covered in the Apprenticeship.

On successful completion, apprentices will be awarded a Scaffolder (Level 2) qualification and will be eligible to apply for a CISRS Scaffolder card.

Independent Scaffolding Inspection

Our independent inspection service covers all three main Scaffold Inspection types – handover, statutory and pro-active.

Statutory Inspection, which is a legal requirement, is often undertaken by the scaffolding contractor on behalf of the client. This arrangement works well until safety and/or quality issues are raised, when it becomes evident that unbiased and independent inspection would have better served the interests of all parties involved.

Our team of Scaffold Inspectors carry out inspections across the UK on behalf of both scaffolding contractors and their clients, providing assurance in line with the relevant safety legislation.

All our Inspectors are CISRS qualified Scaffolders, hold Advanced Scaffolder Inspection certification and hold, or are working towards, IOSH membership.

Scaffolding Compliance Audit

Similar to scaffold inspection but usually carried out in greater depth, scaffold audit is used to provide a measure of the quality of scaffolding, the performance of the scaffolding contractors, or to identify areas for improvement.

SIMIAN’s experience in work of this nature has taken in several continents across a whole host of industry sectors. From petrochemical sites to power generation, defence, ship building, construction, pharmaceutical, rail, nuclear and heavy engineering environments, our audits can be tailored to meet client needs and local performance standards.
