Lina Engelsrud

Lina Engelsrud is the leader of Sunndal Library. She has a background in Journalism, Acting and Yoga teacher.

She has been actively contributing to the development of In2IT International Dance Festival, since it was established in 2016. Her joy and passion for movement and art carries a voice that is sensitive to others and surroundings.

We are happy to have Lina present the Opening remarks and lead a discussion around Visibility in Møre og Romsdal.

Theatrical breaking

This workshop teaches the technical evolution of the corporeal language of the collective. To do this we will study the fundamental aspects that support the collective’s unique identity. We will work on the development of tools that assist in the breakdown or blurring of boundaries, something that the company is known for. The aim is to find a space of encounter between urban dance, contemporary dance, Butoh and martial arts. From here, we will facilitate the learning of key aspects of our practice: dissociation and coordination, ground work, acrobatics, interpretation and collaborating within a group dynamic through partnering

UNSPOKEN SPOKEN

We exist within a world of rules. Rules we impose upon ourselves, rules others impose upon us. Sometimes they are unconscious, sometimes hidden, often unspoken. Angry, frustrated, confused, awake. Why does it take so long to realise all these rules are here? Can we accept them? Should we? And what do we do now?

Fin Walker’s Unspoken Spoken for Candoco Dance Company exposes the potential that exists when we dare to challenge the rules. We encounter five characters, each with his or her own rules to question, to surrender to, to fight against.

A story told through BSL, voice and movement, Unspoken Spoken is performed by a cast of disabled and non-disabled dancers. Some younger, some older, they ask us to look deeper, to explore our own boundaries. What changes if we face up to what is holding us back?

A twisted, dark story of rejection, religion, lust and death. In collaboration with live classical music performed by Bowjangles. Co- produced by The Cockpit in partnership with St Mary In The Castle and The Place.

Based on Oscar Wilde’s play, this telling of Salomé explores the shifting relationships of power between the characters of Salomé, King Herod and Jokanaan, focussing on themes of corruption, desire and divinity.

A rich and sensual dance theatre experience with live music and original score by Phillip O'Meara. The company of seven take you on an extraordinary and dark journey where music, contemporary dance and latin ballroom bring to life the characters and themes of Wilde’s tragedy.

In Jakob two male performers depart into an intense elliptic journey that gradually reveals the complexity of their interdependent relationship. It invites the audience into a seemingly playful choreography that investigates the reasons for why we limit our availabilities and our capacities to open up for one another, and to support and accept each other.

With a movement language that generates metaphoric pictures and symbolic gestures, and that is yet emotionally detached, Jakob is the continuation of Tony Tran’s ongoing research on power and identity in human relationships. How does the person or party we are relating to take part in the choices we make?

How does this shape our behavior, our individual actions and how we meet the others?

ABSENCE CREW (Norway)

Joy, self-confidence and mastery are key words that are central to an Absence crew workshop. You learn to rock to the music, dance with others, improvise and of course many cool breakemoves. The workshop and dance courses are suitable for children and adults of all ages.

Absence means the absence or temporary loss of consciousness, and refers to the feeling of just dancing and forgetting everything around them, and it is this feeling that Absence is trying to convey in their workshops. One of the fun things about the courses is making a jam, where everyone dances together, or a battle where you compete group against group, or one against one. Here you really get to challenge yourself and your friends.

Join us for Ubuntu Day: The ubuntu day is a very important day in the lives of all humanity. It is a day when humanity comes together to celebrate the oneness that exists in creation and between all races.

The African philosophy of Ubuntu binds all humanity together in oneness. Black, white, yellow, brown all find refuge under the banner of Ubuntu. Ubuntu is based on the principles of Celebration, Oneness, Love, Truth, Peace, and Happiness. It is only through Ubuntu that Africa and all its many cultures can unite in fruitful oneness, because Ubuntu transcends culture race tribe or creed. To celebrate this African heritage a day was selected, a day when all cultures, all religions can lay down their dogmas, ideas, ideologies and come together in the true spirit of Ubuntu i.e. Oneness. God, human beings and all creation are essentially one, this is the very essence of Ubuntu: Oneness.

Why? - The aim of these celebrations is to raise awareness amongst the youth to the glory of Ubuntu. The old saying “It takes a village to raise a child” is more relevant today considering the many negative influences the youth of today encounter through music, internet, movies etc. When? - The annual Ubuntu day falls on the family Day during the Afro Arts festival.

On this day celebrations are held; school children take part, eminent speakers and great musicians are invited with the sound of music and a festive atmosphere filling the air. The African philosophy of Ubuntu i.e. sharing what you have be it money, wisdom, time etc, is practised. It is a day of compassion, a day of charity and celebration. It is an auspicious day of prayer for inner peace as well as for world peace. At 12noon on that auspicious day every participant should stop for a minute to contemplate/ pray for inner peace and for those suffering from mental, emotional and physical pain.

MC CHARLENE EGBE

Charlene Egbe aka MC Charlene is a Bergen based entrepreneur, she owns C-enterprise a Norwegian Dance And Entertainment company. This companies goal is to teach dance and introduce more Afro-entertainment to the masses. Centerprise will also bring to you an event happening every month in the City of Bergen/ Norway, so stay tuned. This page also shows Centerprise’s work and other inspirational dance videos.

Mr Hillo`s confusion

GLIMS AND GLOMS (Finland)

Mr Jam Hillo carries all his belongings with him. Penniless and having lost his home, he leads the life of a hobo and wanders around dragging his bags. The bags contain everything that is necessary, but also antiques, the value of which only Mr Hillo can appreciate. The former junk retailer's most precious treasures, Esmeralda, Vilivili and Urho, come to life to the horror of Hillo and to the joy of the children.

The romantically nostalgic and amusingly absurd JAM carries the spectator from dreamy visuality to expressive miming and heated action. The silent storytelling takes children and others enchanted by clowns into the whirlwind of surprising incidents.

Møt de tussete klovnene, de siamesiske tvillingene, den mystiske magikeren og damen med skjegg –og bli med å ta rotta på den sleipe direktøren og hans assistent, gorillaen. Circus Absence er historien om et suksessrikt sirkus som tar pusten fra publikum. I skyggen av de fantastiske artistene står en fattig ryddegutt med en stor drøm om å få bli med i manesjen. Når det viser seg at den griske direktøren er en stor svindler, er det nettopp ryddegutten som tar affære. Og det blir et spektakulært oppgjør! Absence Crew er kåret til norgesmestere i breaking og er kjent fra Norske Talenter og Mitt Dansecrew på TV2. De har produsert en rekke kritikerroste og populære teaterforestillinger hvor breaking står i sentrum. De har også medvirket i flere av DNS’ familieforestillinger de siste årene.

NOSIN MIS HUESOS

No sin mis huesos (2016) is a dance piece conceived of as a commemoration to the 400 year anniversary of Miguel de Cervantes’ death (April 1616). In the work, Iron Skulls Co. revisits the writer’s biography and draws inspiration from his history. Moreover, they contemplate the socio-political context of Spain during the Golden Age, from which they drawout primary concepts for their creation, including religion and military service.

KENSHIRO! are a heavy hitting aggressive 3-piece alternative metal band, founded in 2019 and based in Bergen (Norway). They're sound is a solid mix of punchy metal riffs as well as catchy melodic parts. They incorporate elements from metalcore, thrash and progressive metal to form their unique sound.The band consists of Sahan on guitar and vocals, Geo on drums and vocals and Mirco on the bass. Their debut single in entitled "Stymphalian Birds" and is out on streaming platforms!

Det Skandaløse Orkester kommer fra Bergen og har lenge vært kjent som norges mest upopulære band. Dette til tross for at de kan både løfte taket og spelle så det smeller i veggene, med en energi på scenen som verden ikke har sett maken til siden Frank Zappa sitt band fra 1977.

De har spilt over 100 konserter siden 2011, og nådde et absolutt bunnpunkt våren 2018 da de spilte på Hannes konditori på Os for tre betalende publikummere, hvorav den ene ble kastet på glattcelle før konserten var ferdig.

The core of this piece is memory; rephrasing the notion of existence and the notion of simply existing in order to exist. Exit/Exist takes a moment to pause; to look back; to rewind the tape to the days when the tapestry of South Africa was about the collision of biographies. Maqoma, a renowned chief of the Xhosa nation is at odds with the English over the possession of cattle. The animosity that was brewing at the time left us with a body of work that we’ve used in putting together Exit/Exist.

A deliberate choice of less exposition and a bigger emphasis on how we use the visual element to tell this tale, while underpinning the musicality, that we hope will evoke the spirit of the time. Maqoma to us is not only an iconic figure of Xhosa land but a figure of historical transformation, the custodian of a movement of a people that cleared the path to an emancipated that he spent his whole life yearning for.”
