Advanced Architectural Design program at Columbia University's Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. You have distinguished yourself among a strong group of well-qualified applicants, and we are excited for you to embark on the next phase of your academic journey as a member of the Columbia GSAPP community this summer.

Unfortunately, we are not able to offer you a scholarship at this time. We understand that pursuing a graduate degree is a big decision, and that the financial cost of your education is an important factor. To this end we offer a number of opportunities for funding to help you offset the cost of tuition. Included with this letter is information on additional sources of funding and support, as well everything you need to know regarding your admission and next steps. You'll also learn about opportunities to connect with and ask questions of our current students and faculty, and information on advanced placement options, visa requirements, and the unparalleled resources you will find at Columbia University and throughout New York City. I especially encourage you to join us at our Open House for admitted students on April 1st, when the faculty and I hope to meet you in person and look forward to answering any questions you may have.

As a GSAPP student you will have the opportunity to grow in an inspiring, motivating, and rigorous environment that will prepare you for future success in our quickly evolving discipline. GSAPP is distinguished as #2 among Top U.S. Graduate Schools in Architecture in the most recent DesignIntelligence ranking, a reflection of the contributions our successful graduates make to the profession. The school's influential academic curriculum and open collegial atmosphere will allow you to develop your individual work alongside other talented students and our excellent faculty.

The coming weeks are of great importance in preparing the next steps for your future, and we hope to support you on this journey. To help with your decision and the many questions we are sure you have, please first visit our Admitted Student website for a useful timeline and overview of all the information you'll need to take the next step.

We have highlighted a few important points below: Open House: To learn more, we hope that you will be able to join our Open House for admitted students on April 1st. You will have the opportunity to speak to current students and faculty, visit the studios and maker spaces, get a first glimpse of Avery Library's unparalleled collection, and take a tour of Columbia University's historic Morningside campus. Please confirm your attendance here.

Virtual Open House: In addition to the Open House, we will host an online info session with Andrés Jaque and students on March 28th.

Enrollment: The deadline to confirm your spot is April 15, 2019. The enrollment form is linked on the first page of this letter.

Add us to your contacts: Be sure to add arch_admissions@columbia.edu and studentaffairs@arch.columbia.edu to your e-mail contacts so that you don't miss any of the important information that we will be sending you going forward.

Columbia ID Number: In the coming days, look out for an email from GSAPP Student Affairs containing your CUID (also called a PID). You'll need this number to view your federal loan package (if you submitted a FAFSA), to apply for a visa, to apply for university housing, and for many other important tasks.

Visa Application: All International students should apply for a visa as soon as possible through the University's International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO). For all inquiries pertaining to visas, please contact the ISSO directly at newintlstudent@columbia.edu.

Funding: There are a number of opportunities for funding are available to you at Columbia GSAPP. Meritbased Teaching Assistant positions are posted each summer, stipends are offered to offset the cost of required course travel, and each student is provided with 24-hour access to computers.You will find further details on tuition, federal loan packages, external grants, and assistantships on our Financial Aid website.

Degree Conferral: Incoming students whose professional degrees will not be conferred until after the start date of the program must provide a letter from their degree-granting University certifying that you have completed all required coursework. The letter must also provide the date the degree will be conferred.

This document should be signed and sealed and delivered to the GSAPP Admissions Office by the end of the second week of the Summer semester. All students must be present on the first day of class, June 3, 2019, and cannot miss more than three classes per semester if they wish to participate in the program.
