2002 BMW Z8 Estimate: £160,000 - £180,000 Buyers Premium 12.5% + VAT

Welcome Hello and welcome to our final auction of 2020! This sale, The NEC Classic Live Online Auction, would ordinarily be part of the annual Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC in Birmingham. However, the event, like so many others, is sadly unable to go ahead this year but we are pleased to say that our auction very much is. This will be our third live online auction this year – something which we are delighted to be able to offer to both our vendors and buyers alike. This format means we can continue to offer our services in a safe way, whilst achieving great results. The catalogue for this sale, our final one of the year, is full of exceptional classic and competition cars. These will be offered over two days, alongside a selection of automobilia items and cherished registration numbers. Furthermore, we are proud to introduce a unique collection of personal items belonging to the late Sir Stirling Moss OBE. As you browse this e-catalogue you will find a significant private collection of five competition cars from a golden era in Motorsport, a collectable Red Arrows 2017 Aston Martin Vanquish S, a 1980 BMW M1 with period provenance, a rare 2002 BMW Z8 – I could go on and on, the cars speak for themselves! We are able to offer a significant viewing window once again, from Thursday 29th October through to Thursday 12th November. This is your opportunity to inspect the vehicles of interest in person and to view any accompanying history files. This will take place by prior appointment at NAEC Stoneleigh (Hall 1), Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, CV8 2LZ / CV8 2LG To reserve your appointment, please contact the team on 01926 691141, where full details will be provided. To bid in this auction you have a choice of three methods, online, by phone, or via a commission (pre) bid. Further details on these are in the following pages, alternatively visit our website, www.silverstoneauctions.com to register. I would like to thank you for your support throughout 2020, enjoy the auction and happy bidding!

T H E J OY O F YAC H T O W N E R S H I P. THE LUXURY OF NO RESPONSIBILITIES.

ALL SHARES SOLD WHAT IF YOU COULD ENJOY ALL THE UPSIDES OF BOATING ON YOUR OWN FULLY CREWED, PROFESSIONALLY MAINTAINED, LUXURY PRINCESS MOTOR YACHT WITHOUT THE COMPLEXITIES AND FOR ONLY A FRACTION OF THE COST? THAT’S EXACTLY WHAT’S HAPPENED... Seven couples are now proud owners of the inaugural YachtQuarters Princess 64, berthed in Port Adriano Mallorca. They have just experienced their first opportunity to soak up the sun on the stunning coastline of the Balearic Islands, in the reliable hands of Yacht Skipper Simon Greaves, and Yacht Manager Juliano Meirelles. So how does YachtQuarters work? Each owner purchases a share. Every aspect of running the boat is taken care of by a dedicated team of professionals, including berthing, insurance, servicing, skipper and crew. There’s even a concierge service to help plan any trips. All they and their guests have to do is sit back and relax. What’s best is that you only pay for the four weeks you spend on board, not the 48 weeks of the year, many privately owned craft spend lying in a marina. All of the costs are built into the ownership agreement – so it’s totally transparent and controlled. The only things not included are fuel and provisioning. The net result?

Owners get a lot more yacht for their investment, and at the end of the four year period when the yacht is sold, they receive the same 1/8th share of the sale price. A 1/8th share of the YachtQuarters Princess 64 for example, cost just £150,000 plus an annual running cost of £20,000. Following their first summer on board, one of the new owners has already expressed just how delighted they are with their new yacht and the service they have received from the YachtQuarters team: “Having considerable work commitments, I could not see myself being able to use a boat for more than a few weeks per year, so YachtQuarters provided the perfect solution. The annual cost of running the boat is shared with others and when I turn up for my weeks on board, the boat is ready and waiting for me - I don’t waste precious time seeing to repairs and maintenance. The experience during this first year of ownership has been wonderful and Princess have provided an excellent service.”

Bid On Lot 431

A very special collectors car from the golden era of French Touring Cars. • Six new R5 Turbos (alloy roof and doors) cars were taken from stock and used by Renault as the bases for their assault on the ‘Production’ Class of the 1985 French Supertourisme Championship • Renault were determined to win outright in 1987 so, late in 1986, three of the six cars were chosen and heavily re-prepared for the 1987 season to be driven by were Frenchmen Jean-Louis Bousquet, Jean Ragnotti and Érik Comas • The bodyshells were sent to ‘Matter’ and Sonica lowered the cars even further, increasing the track front and rear and fettling the suspension so that the cars were close to the regulation limit • Renault F3 engine specialists, Sodemo Moteurs, produced a stroked 1419cc version of the R5T engine • With a new wild camshaft and a new Garret T4/T3 turbocharger with tri-lobe shaft and titanium internals, this particular engine produced 410bhp at 7000rpm using 3.2 bar of boost • Renault achieved their aim and Érik Comas won the title in 1987. Renault has confirmed that this car, ‘Ch 3-86’, was the actual car used on the championship-clinching drive by Comas on 25/10/1987 at Pau-Arnos! • These three cars were the most extreme versions of the Renault 5 Turbo ever produced by the factory and the other two are carefully locked in the Renault museum at Paris Flins!
