INTRODUCTION Milan is getting ready for Fashion Week 2017, returning from the 20th to the 25th of September. With this year’s show comes the release of the new Silver and Gold Magazine.

The first issue, borne from the great ideas and the creativity of Silver and Gold’s staff, will be published

by MMS Moda Milano Sinergy. The next will see new and different professional figures, both newbies and experts together.

Silver and Gold was created to change the patterns of the ordinary fashion magazines, giving the blooming professional a chance to grow, facilitating collaboration between newbie photographers and expert stylists, and vice versa.

Silver and Gold will constantly change and evolve to adapt and offer the best. Publishing bimonthly issues about beauty, fashion, and trends. Moreover, every issue will have interviews with great stylists, like Anton Giulio Grande on page 36 of this first edition.

INTERVIEW: ANTON GIULIO GRANDE Tell us something about yourself, • I have a beautiful yet intense history behind me, both personal and professional.

I’ve chosen to do this in very innocent times. As a young boy I was fascinated by the world of women, show, fashion and everything related to beauty. It was true vocation and, as a result, I had no interest for outside activities that were more popular among my peers. In the late ‘80s, I was studying at a classical gymnasium in a small village in southern Italy and I loved drawing and skimming fashion magazines.

• They were different times, of highest quality, they were harder but surely more poetic.

In the suburbs, confrontation with the latest fashions was possible mainly through TV. Many of the dreams of that lonely, introverted high school boy I was, came true in a way perhaps even faster than I expected. I have no regrets, and if I could go back I would do almost every single thing I’ve done, because through sacrifice, experience, apprenticeship and studies, this job and passion of mine gave me moments of authentic happiness.

How do you feel about your job?

• I feel gratitude, contentment, constant excitement, euphoria, passion never extinguished, it’s been a lifeline in difficult times and especially something that has always filled the gaps in me, something that can’t betray me... Love. Your creations seem to be the result of a deep communion between the garment and the wearer. How do you get to convey that sense of harmony through fabric?

• It’s something you can’t explain, it’s a natural gift. Through my studies at the University of Florence before and New York then and with direct experience on customers around the world, I surely improved and refined techniques, solutions of constructions and much more, but the talent, taste and feel are absolutely innate and unexplainable.

Being a high product, both materially and spiritually, doesn’t it runs the risk of getting to only a certain elite?

• Haute Couture has always been thought, and actually been, for a few. Things have changed a lot in the past few years. High fashion has become more accessible

and has adapted to the times, approaching the youngest with less structured and more portable, modern clothes. For women who love to travel and do not give up the luxury of a unique and sophisticated garments, maybe event thought to be packed just as you do with a pair of jeans. An elite garment is not economically unattainable at all costs.

It’s so thanks to style, mood, research and innovative techniques. For me this is the concept that represents high fashion now.

What is the best memory when you look at your professional history?

• I can picture many unrepeatable moments lived in these twenty years of career. Definitely seeing my dresses worn by beautiful women just like I imagined them, all the magazine covers, the fashion shows on Tv, all the women who choose to wear my creations for their own special occasions... my life’s been a constellation of many and different moments of beauty.

What’s your definition of beauty?

• It’s something absolutely personal but essential to the happiness of anyone. Through beauty, its creation, contemplation, the search of it, both the world and the men would benefit and be much better. Everyone should be seduced and dominated by beauty to be better people.

What advice would you give to young people who want to work in the fashion world?

• Few but essential things. To study, to be humble and be willing to sacrifice themselves.

Not to get carried away by internet, to use it it to speed up the timing but not to make it a dependency. To experience and feel this world with their own hands, through culture and fashion in every sense. And to get used to the idea that unfortunately it is a world of changes, often too sudden to notice. This is a world where there’s no certainty nor stability and you need to be ready to face it with courage. Success doesn’t happen all at once and is hardly ever constant. It goes through different phases. You have to be ready, both professionally and psychologically, to face an environment which is often not easy.

Any projects for the future?

• A lot. Many events and, above all, to take my product all around the world. It’s not only dresses but also fashion accessories. I want to grow staying true to my style of quality and sophistication, taking advantage of my background, the Made in Italy, and all my enthusiasm and passion.
