Fire Procedure
from Digital Welcome Pack
by Runyu Hu
• Fire alarm testing- Weekly, not on any particular day. There will be a public announcement prior to and following the test. The fire alarm will sound for up to 30 seconds. If it does not finish after 30 seconds, please assume it is not a drill and evacuate the building.
• An intermittent alarm means smoke has been detected in an adjacent zone - wait in your current location. A continuous alarm means you should evacuate immediately via the nearest external exit.

• Fire evacuation procedure- Should the fire alarm sound leave the building by the shortest, nearest route and report to the nearest Fire Assembly point. When you arrive please familiarise yourself with fire exits, assembly points, fire wardens and routes out of the building.
• If you discover a fire, operate a fire alarm call point immediately (located at door entrances). Do not use the lifts or stop to collect personal belongings. Evacuate the building and go straight to your assembly point. Once evacuated, do not re-enter the building until informed that it is safe to do so.
