People With Others
Option 1 – Cambodia Virtual Immersion Day
Boys and Boarders

4 weeks working 1:1 teaching a Cambodian student English via Teams.
Duration of program: 4 weeks Monday
3:30-4:45 pm. March 10, 17, 24 & 31
ACTION: You must raise a minimum $150 for a scholarship for a student

Option 2 - Loaves and Fishes Restaurant
Boarders during term time / day students in holidays with a parent

Loaves and Fishes: Free restaurant serving the homeless & those on the margins
Prepare and serve food; talk with patrons
Travel to and from by College via minibus
Each Student to commit to two shifts throughout the year.
A few school holiday shifts are offered to day students accompanied by their parents. Day Boys

ACTION: No fundraising but must also participate in the Balmoral swim or bring in a grocery donation
Option 3- The Cardoner Network Program Day Boys and Boarders
Brownies & Burritos

Prepare Sunday lunch for those living rough Deliver meals to people in Ward Park, talking with them
Complete two Sunday shifts
Location: Broadway, near Central Station Sunday Shifts available including holidays

Action: Raise $30 to cover the costs of the program and fruit
Option 4 - CatholicCare Holiday Program
Day Boys and City Boarders - in school holidays
CatholicCare assists people with a disability to develop work, social and life skills.

Students will complete two days in a row
When: April or Oct Holidays
Location: Belmore (make your own way)
Action: Raise $100 to support the program

Option 5 - LuzAllAbilities Boarders Only
After-school program for children with disabilities
Boarding students - The afternoon will vary each term

Location: Lane Cove shops
When: 5 afternoon shifts 4-5pm.
ACTION: No fundraising but must also participate in the Balmoral Swim or bring in a grocery donation

Option 6 - Landcare Day Boys and Boarders

Landcare is a community-driven movement focused on sustainable land management and environmental conservation.
Location: On campus
When: Term 2, 2 X Sunday shifts, 4th & 18th May 9.30AM -12.30PM
ACTION: Bring in a grocery donation

We have an opportunity to contribute to this within our community, ultimately caring for our shared common home.

Option 5- St Canice’s Kitchen Day Boys and Boarders

Prepare Sunday lunch for those living rough and sit and interact with guests
Complete two Sunday shifts

Location: Elizabeth Bay, near Kings Cross
Station
When: Sunday Shifts, one in each term
Action: Raise $80 to cover the costs of the program


What is expected of you?
Be a Man For & With Others
Wear appropriate clothing (You will be notified if specific clothing requirements)
If you are unwell with cold/flu symptoms, Do Not Attend and contact supervising teacher ASAP
Have a positive attitude and show initiative
Don’t group together
Ask questions when unsure
No use of mobile phones whilst at service
Report any injuries to SIC staff member
Remember you are representing the College, act inclusively and responsibly at all times (polite and respectful to staff, students and all those you come into contact with)
Treat all those you accompany and serve with dignity & respect
Important Things to Consider
Consider your availability - will afternoons, Sundays or school holidays work best? Sports training

Limited numbers, you may not get your first choice
Get your service done as early as possible this year – because accelerated HSC, prelims/exams, starting Year 12 in Term 4
If you are interested in applying for STUDENT LEADERSHIP, need service completed by end of Term 2
Students who have already signed up for shifts with Cardoner / L&L, DO NOT select a preference you are already in.
If you did your service last December, you DO NOT select a preference
Steps to completing your 2024 Service

Steps to complete the 2025 Ignatian Service Program include:
1. Students select one experience and complete or signup by Week 10, Term 3.
2. Once ALL service components have been completed, logged for you by the Ignatian Centre onto your InsideView Service Record.
Staying Safe During Service

During Service you are to:
• Move in groups of at least two
• Do not work by yourself
• Speak to the SIC Supervising Teacher if you feel unsafe - Trust your instincts
• Ensure that you are shown the correct procedure for performing the task
• Report any injuries immediately to the SIC Supervising
• If you are unwell, please do not attend and contact staff ASAP
1. Today you will select ONE of the seven options as your service preference for the year

2. When your chosen service option becomes available, we will email you and ask you to register for a shift. We will work on a first in basis, there is often an option to join the waitlist should another student drop out.
3. Link to 2025 Year 11 Service options can be found on an email that I have sent to you today.


You will receive a Registration Confirmation email - if you do not receive this you have not correctly completed the registration, and you do not have a place confirmed
