BRIEFS Dr.Me says ‘Make a Flag’. This brief was very open and was to simply make a flag with a partner. There were no limitations apart from that it must be 1 x 1.5m.

CONCEPT / MAKING The idea that we went with for this was based on our mutual love/ hatred of animals. We decided to group lots of animals into the categories ‘good’ or ‘bad’. We then scanned in and cut out 50 animals, hand editted them and scanned them back in. The vision for the final flag was a battle of good Vs evil in the animal kingdom. The final digital outcome can be seen on the following board.

BRIEFS To design a christmas postcard as part of Lizzy Tyrer’s brief - A Very Alternative Christmas. The theme I was given was Last Christmas by Wham! The card has to be A6 and use only one colour.

CONCEPT / DEVELOPMENT Taking inspiration from the famous lyrics “Last Christmas I gave you my heart’, I wanted to make a bit of a cryptic visual clue about what song it was. The design was based around a card sent from George Michael dated with last years date (2012).

FINISHED DESIGN To make the most of only having 1 colour to use I used a half tone pattern so that I could give the impression of an open card. In hindsight I shoul have probably written ‘From Wham!’ to make to make it more obvious that it is based on the song Last Christmas

BRIEF As part of the Dialogue exhibition people were invited to submit artwork that had links to the theme of ‘dialogue’. The artwork had to be black and white and ready for screen printing.

ARTWORK What came to mind when I thought of visual dialogue was “Say what you see” from Catchphrase. With this as a basic theme I decided to manipulate an image of Roy Walker.

06

BRIEFS I was asked by a member of the EDF Apprentice scheme to design a logo to promote a charity skydive. The logo will be used primarily on promotional t-shirts and potentially on EDF social media outlets.

CONCEPT / DEVELOPMENT For this logo I set out to make something that would be instantly recognisable and obvious. The reason people would sponsor this event is because it is extreme and dangerous, so this is what the logo had to quickly communicate. I used a heavy slab serif typefave and some grunge brushes to make this simple but suitable logo.

PRINTED PRODUCTS As I wasn’t involved in the printing of the t shirts the logo came out a little bit smaller than I had planned but the t-shirts were made on a small budget so that more proceeds could go to charity so this is to be expected. Overall I think the logo does it’s job, it’s not over complicated and it quickly communicates what the campaign is for.
