ABOUT ME

SHWE SIN(MOE) HTUT

As a fourth-year student studying at Pratt Institute in New York, and coming from Myanmar, a country with unique challenges and opportunities, I’ve developed a deep appreciation for the power of design to create meaningful change. Growing up in a developing nation has fueled my desire to learn and contribute to sustainable and impactful solutions. Throughout my studies, I’ve learned to blend creativity with precision, and I’m eager to apply these skills in real-world scenarios. This portfolio is a collection of my work so far, highlighting the diverse projects I’ve tackled. It showcases my journey in the world of architecture, driven by a passion for innovation and a commitment to making a difference.

Multi-Gen Housing Complex

In my Comprehensive Design 302 class, I collaborated with my partner Tvishaa Chadha on the of the Multi-Generational Co-Housing Project. This project reimagines urban living by integrating green spaces into both private and public realms. Inspired by the pixelated modular approach, each floor features unique subtractions that introduce communal gardens, fostering a connection to nature for residents of all ages. The design emphasizes vertical expansion and community interaction, with modular courtyards linked by bridges supported by glulam beams. A rooftop ecosystem crowns the structure, serving as a living space for both residents and local wildlife.

Public Fresh Food Market

For our Comprehensive Design 301 studio project, my design partner, Sea Koohakeaw, and I conceptualized a versatile structure in Sara D. Roosevelt Park, New York City. This multi-functional building merges a fresh food market, educational classrooms, and spaces dedicated to public events. Our core design concept revolves around portraying this building as a ‘city within a city,’ highlighting its ability to offer a diverse range of urban experiences and functions in a single, cohesive space. For this project we focused more on the structural aspects of the design.

Botanic Nest O2

In my Intermediate Design 202 studio project, I focused on transforming the Marcy Library in Brooklyn. The vision was to expand and revitalize it into a state-of-theart Audio-Visual Center, complete with classrooms, theaters, an atrium, and an enchanting outdoor garden. Central to my design concept was the harmonious integration of nature with contemporary, blocky architectural forms. This is exemplified by the inclusion of an open atrium, a serene garden at the heart of the structure, and smaller green spaces encircling the rooms, creating a blend of natural elements within a modern setting.

BATH HOUSE AND SAUNA

In my Intermediate Design 201 course, I undertook the creative task of designing a civic sauna and bathhouse. This project was inspired by the architectural style of Junya Ishigami’s KAITS Workshop, especially its two-way slab roof system. Central to my design is an open garden, seamlessly integrated into the heart of the structure, adding a touch of nature and tranquility to the bathhouse environment.

05 TECHNICAL DRAWINGS

In my Construction Documents class, I engaged in the technical task of creating detailed construction drawings using Revit. Throughout the course, I progressed & developed comprehensive details on plans and sections, that effectively communicated the construction of the building of my Public Market Project, learning the technicality aspects of the space.
