WHAT ARE A-LEVELS? An A-Level is an advanced qualification offered across a range of subjects, typically accessible to school leavers (students aged 16 to 18). The programme is a 2-year course taught similarly to your GCSEs, with your final grades obtained from your final exams which take place at the end of the two years. Whilst subjects are mostly exam-based, some A-Level options, such as Art or Science, require you to complete coursework or controlled assessments during the year which will count towards your final grade. WHERE CAN A-LEVELS TAKE ME?

A-Levels can take you to higher education (university), into high-level apprenticeships or even directly into employment depending on your career goals.

For all A-Level subjects, students should have 5 GCSEs grade 9-5. Please note that some subjects have more specific requirements, these can be found on our website.

Stacy studied with us under our Catering programme, and has gone on to become a great success in the industry. Stacy previously worked with Michelin star chef Andrew McLeish as a sous chef, and is now Head Chef at Threadneedles Hotel. Stacy now mentors our students, who come to Threadneedles for work placements.

Our very own Debbie Cooney has recently been presented with a Civic Recognition Award by the Mayor of Bexley Council, in recognition of her 27 years in service to the Scouts Association. Every year we host an event in our very own City View Restaurant to thank our work-placement mentors for all the work they do to support our learners. This year was an exceptional event, which consisted of several former SHC students who are now WEX mentors. This event also gives next year's NVQ 3 students the opportunity to have interviews with their potential work placements.
