The Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department will provide well-rounded, quality programs and significant resources by anticipating and responding to customer needs, while enhancing the sense of a close, safe community for all current and future participants.
To register for programs, call the Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department at 314-647-1003 or register in person at the Shrewsbury City Center. Participants are encouraged to pre-register for programs unless otherwise noted. Programs with low enrollment are subject to cancellation three days prior to the start of the program. All fees associated with any programs must be paid for at the time of registration. We accept Cash, Check or Credit Cards: Visa, MasterCard or Discover. Rates for rentals, passes, and programs are subject to change at any time.

The Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department seeks suggestions and instructors for youth and adult leisure enrichment programs, fitness, sports, and other activities. Staff will enforce this code of conduct.

Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation frequently videotapes and photographs participants enjoying our programs, special events, parks and facilities. The images are used at the Department’s discretion and become its sole property.
We encourage people of all abilities to participate in the programs and to use the facilities we offer. Refunds will only be given if: 1. The participant is unable to attend due to illness. A physician's statement must be presented before a refund will be disbursed. A prorated amount will be given if the program has already begun. 2. The program is cancelled. Refunds will be given to all paid participants. 3. The participant makes a written request before the start of the second class. Request received after the second class will entitle the participant to a prorated refund
The Rec Pass includes use of the gym during open play, the weight room, and game room. Passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
For Residents Only. This pass includes the same access as the Rec Pass, plus admission to the Shrewsbury Family Aquatic Center. Passes are valid for one year from the date of purchase and are only available to Residents of Shrewsbury.

Ackfeld Park consists of a total of 6.8 acres of land. It is located at the Intersection of Shrewsbury and Sutherland Avenue, behind the Police and Fire Station. The park has a ball field and two tennis courts. A sand volleyball court is located east of the aquatic center parking lot.
Brinkop Park’s 3.4 acres are nestled in a beautiful residential area west of the intersection at Nottingham and Laurella. The park has a playground, ball field, multi-purpose court, pavilion, and restroom facility.
Call 314-647-1003 or visit the Shrewsbury City Center to reserve a pavilion. Pavilions are open April-October. We will start taking 2024 park rentals on March 4th at 9:00 am. Pavilion Rentals may be cancelled or rescheduled with 48-hour notice or in cases of severe weather, for a full refund.
Hartry Park is the smallest park located in the City of Shrewsbury. The park is one acre of pure enjoyment and is located at 4100 Exeter Ave. There is a playground and a multi-purpose court for all to use.
Wehner Park is Shrewsbury’s largest park consisting of 31.8 acres. This park contains three ball fields, one soccer field, two pavilions, two playgrounds, and two tennis courts. Wehner Pavilion is located at 7600 Hazel Ave., and the Festival Site Pavilion is located at 5200 Lenox Ave.
The basketball gym at the Shrewsbury City Center is available to rent for practices, pickleball events, birthday parties, and private groups.

Do you need field space for your baseball, softball, or soccer team to practice? The City of Shrewsbury has fields available for rent! Please note: We do not have lights on any of our fields. Field Reservations for 2024 are now available.

There’s plenty of room to move around and mingle, so make your next party a hit in our multi-purpose room.

These rules, and rules posted at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Center are intended for the safety and enjoyment of the facility for all patrons. By purchasing a pool pass or paying admission fees, patrons agree to follow all rules established. Failure to follow the rules can result in injury or expulsion from the pool. Staff have the discretion to create, modify, and enforce additional rules as necessary.
Current-year passes are required for entry. Patrons with expired passes will not be allowed admission until their pass is renewed. We do not offer daily admissions at our facility. Guests must enter with a pass holder. Each pass holder may bring up to four guests. No outside food, drinks (except for unopened bottles of water), coolers, or glass bottles may be brought into the Aquatic Center. A picnic table is located outside of the gates. Operating dates and times are subject to change. The pool may close early for special events. On days with inclement weather, low temps, or fewer than 20 guests in the facility, the aquatic center or portions of the facility may not be open. The slide will be open 1 hour after the facility opens and close 1 hour prior to the facility closing.
Pool Passes for the Shrewsbury Aquatic Center are available to purchase for Residents and Non-Residents. Passes are valid for open swim time only and can be purchased at the Shrewsbury City Center. Celebrate your child’s birthday at the Shrewsbury Aquatic Center. Birthday Party Packages include pool admission for twenty people with 2 hours of private reserved tables under the party tent, 4 large pizzas and 4 pitchers of soda. The Shrewsbury Sharks Swim Team is part of the Southwest St. Louis County Municipal Swim and Dive League. The league is a recreational summer swim and dive league with teams from around the St. Louis area. Membership is open to swimmers ages 6-18, Residents & NonResidents. A new parent info meeting will be held on Wednesday, April 10 at 6:00 pm at the Shrewsbury City Center. The meeting is required for all parents of NEW swim team members. Registration will open for new and returning swimmers following the meeting. Practices are scheduled to start the week of May 27th. Practice times will be discussed during the parent meeting. Babysitting 101 is a 2.5-hour course for students aged 11+ interested in babysitting, presented by Little Medical School. Together, we’ll learn about basic childcare, safety, first aid, understanding of developmental stages and relevant activities, health, nutrition, sleep information, Heimlich Maneuver, and EpiPen usage. Students also create a babysitting advertisement and earn a certificate. This class can also be used to earn the Girl Scouts babysitting badge.

They offer classes for both girls and boys ages 18 months to 12 years. It is their mission at Tippi Toes to develop a love of dancing in children by creating a positive experience that promotes healthy living habits, helps build self-confidence, and a love for others. They begin every class with warm-ups and stretching exercises as well as activities that encourage boys and girls to use their imagination. They then introduce ballet, tap and jazz or hip-hop techniques using dance terms and examples to enhance their knowledge of the art.

Stay Strong, Stay Healthy is an evidence-based senior strength training program. Do you like building puzzles? Are you competitive? Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation is pleased to announce a brand-new event, The Great Jigsaw Showdown! This is a 2-hour Jigsaw puzzle-building competition with a fun atmosphere with prizes, and an optional puzzle swap table. To swap: bring in your old puzzles (no missing pieces please) and trade with other puzzlers. Teams are welcome to bring snacks and drinks. All teams will receive the same 500piece competition puzzle, then will race to finish them the fastest. The top three teams will receive prizes for finishing the puzzle the most quickly, and all teams will be able to take home their competition puzzle at the end of the event. These lessons are for kids, ages 6-13, who are brand new to tennis or have had some exposure to tennis but are not ready to play tournaments. When children join the clinics, they will learn how to hold a racket, watch the ball, position themselves to effectively hit the ball, and engage in fun games that will allow them to practice correct techniques. Our coaches focus on teaching precise form, so your child will progress through the program with a solid understanding of and developing ability to demonstrate the physics behind hitting a tennis ball. Children will be placed in groups based on their ages, 6-9 or 10-13.

These sessions are for kids who have played tennis for at least one year. If your child wants to play high school tennis, or is currently playing on a team, this clinic is perfect for them. During the sessions, they will work with an experienced coach to refine their technique, improve their footwork, develop their topspin, and learn/improve specialized shots. They will participate in competitive, high-paced drills and games to help them develop and improve their form and strategy. Come out and give it a try! Participants will be grouped by their skill level.

Are you ready to sweat? This advanced adult clinic is for those warriors who want a hardcore workout while improving their tennis skills. If you’re not quite an advanced player, but are looking for a good workout, this class is perfect for you, too. We guarantee you will be moving the whole time. If you have not played tennis before, check out our adult instructional clinics for beginners and intermediate levels. Come with an extra water bottle and get ready to move your body! Adult Beginner Clinic: If you have not played much tennis and/or have never been formally taught, this clinic is perfect for you. The coaches will break down the strokes and guide you through the proper implementation of the steps required to hit the ball straight and over the net. As you practice and receive feedback, your muscle memory will take over and help you move to the next level. Moving from a beginner to an intermediate player takes time, and we’re here to help.
Adult Intermediate Clinic: This clinic is perfect for people who can consistently hit the ball back and forth 8-10 times but are not fully happy with their game. During the clinic, coaches will provide feedback to enhance your game and troubleshoot areas that need improvement. Come prepared to move and hit a lot of balls while also refining your form and footwork. The instruction focuses on the basics while incorporating fast-paced drills and competitive games.

All of our training starts with the Just for You Behavior and Training Seminar (BAT 101). The BAT 101 seminar willget you prepared for our puppy and family dog classes, as we cover stateof-the-art training methods, leadership, and training equipment. You’ll learn the most effective way to trainyour dog, how to manage common behavior problems, and how to prepare for class. This 90-minute online presentation provides you with a solid foundation for yourfirst class.

Open for puppies between 8-14 weeks old. Our puppy socialization classes are uniquely designed to take advantage of your puppy’s developmental periods. These classes allow opportunities for off leash socialization with other puppies so your puppy can learn or build on good social skills.
For dogs over 16 weeks old. When you want a well-mannered family dog, your dog needs to learn helpful obedience skills. Whether your dog is a complete novice or a seasoned old-timer who is new in your home, you and your dog will benefit! With this class, we help you and your dog progress through a Good Dog and Super Dog level. Then you are eligible to take more advanced classes in the future.
