Welcome to Heritage Open Days 2021 Heritage Open Days is England’s largest festival of heritage and culture. Across the country, thousands of heritage venues take part, opening their doors and providing a variety of heritage events, free of charge. For Blackpool, the event is an opportunity to explore and showcase the town’s extraordinary and eclectic history, uncovering unique local stories and hidden treasures.

Heritage Open Days Blackpool and the Fylde Coast is coordinated by Blackpool Council’s Heritage Service and Showtown Blackpool.

How to book tickets Tickets for tours go live on Thursday 12th August at 9.30am. Our Heritage Open Days phone line will be open every Thursday and Friday 9.30am to 12.30pm, from Thursday 12th August until Friday 10th September.

Opened on 14th May 1894, this iconic Blackpool landmark has enticed, impressed and entertained visitors for over 125 years! Join us for a tour and explore the fascinating history that lies within this stunning building.

This guided walk uncovers the history of 23 historic landmarks of pleasure, leisure and architecture from the Victorian era to the present day. Beginning at The Imperial Hotel and concluding at the Comedy Carpet.

Some have been hidden from the public view for many years; others often passed unrecognised. Discover Blackpool’s war memorials on this walk.

Opened in 1926 by the Earl of Derby, Stanley Park continues to impress visitors offering a wonderful blend of architecture, recreation, nature and tranquillity. Discover the heritage of Stanley Park on this tour which includes the rare opportunity to climb the Cocker Clock Tower.

A guided tour of some of the 35 sites within Blackpool that are alleged to be haunted by spectres, spooks and spirits that link with this unique town.

Tour will include some history of the buildings and areas visited.

A beautiful Edwardian building built in 1911. The building is a unique surprise in urban Blackpool, with stunning and original character.

Toddler Time Live Storytelling on Blackpool Libraries Facebook Page. Following the Edible England theme, the library team will be reading ‘The Wolves who came to Dinner’ by Steve Smallman and Joëlle Dreidemy (A Little Tiger Press book)

An impressive, Grade ll listed church, designed by Richard Knill Freeman. It was completed in 1895 and is one of the finest examples of ecclesiastical architecture in Blackpool. The stained glass window to the east and west are by Ward and Hughes (early 20th century) and two large windows in the south transept were designed in 1909 by Carl Almquist of Shrigley and Hunt.

Enjoy a guided tour around this grade ll listed building, learning how a windmill works, enjoy an exhibition depicting the history of the windmills across the Fylde and a family friendly windmill making activity.

1906 CLEVELEYS COTTAGE EXHIBITION WALKING TOUR Meeting Point: Corner of West Drive and Cleveleys Avenue, FY5 2BL A guided walk around the houses built for the ‘Cleveleys Cottage Exhibition of 1906’. A very early example of an ideal home exhibition, including examples from Lutyens as well as many renowned architects and builders. All 42 buildings survive and visitors will receive a replica map of the site.
