a bachelor’s degree in animal science. Judging for Ryan Rathmann at Tech, I was a member of the 2008 National Champion Livestock Team accumulating multiple top 10 finishes individually. I also was a member of the 2008 National Champion Meat Animal Evaluation team. Graduation quickly approached and like many impending graduates, I was not sure exactly what the future held. A new opportunity arrived when Shane Bedwell, judging coach from Colorado State University offered me the chance to help coach the livestock judging team while pursuing a master’s degree. Two years later, I had earned a degree in animal nutrition and received valuable coaching experiences with Bedwell. The thought of moving back to the Texas Panhandle encouraged me to seek the livestock judging coach position at West Texas A&M University and pursue a PhD. My first team at WT was very successful and ranked in the top five in three national contests. This was the first time in recent program history this had happened. During my second year at WT, Chris Mullinix,

expressed his interest in me applying for the Butler coaching job upon his vacancy. Knowing the history and success of the program, it was an easy sell and a perfect fit. I started as an instructor and livestock judging coach the fall of 2013. During my time at Butler, I have coached seven AllAmerican students, four Reserve Champion teams at national contests, 13 top five finishes at national contests, and have never had a team place out of the top 10. I attribute all of my successes and where I am today to many people. My parents and family have been the biggest support system through everything. I am also grateful to have had strong influences and coaches that have helped mold me along the way. But most importantly, as a strong Christian, I attribute everything to the Lord. My faith and my relationship with the Lord are easily the most important aspects of my life. Throughout this journey, the Lord has had a plan for me every step of the way. Things may not work out the way you want them to, but have faith and the Lord will show you His way. •
