About us

Phil first embarked on a plumbing career in 1975, his aim; to create a legacy for his family. It was then he started China Bathrooms, based in Morley, Leeds.

After working in the industry for many years, Phil realised that his older customer base was being taken advantage of by similar companies. They were over charging and using hard sales techniques, leaving customers feeling uneasy and at times vulnerable.

Phil wanted to counteract this sales method and launched his unique selling point, a no pressure, affordable service.

The company relocated their shop to Bury Market in Greater Manchester, allowing their customer base to discover the company in their usual shopping environment.

This way of displaying the company’s services proved very successful. However, living in Leeds and commuting to Bury took its toll over the years. This convinced the company to move back to West Yorkshire. China Bathrooms found a new home in 2014 in Castleford & Pontefract Indoor Markets.

2016 saw the introduction of Phil’s eldest daughter, Harriette and husband Simon. There was a little brand refresh, a relaunch and Shower People Ltd. was born. Shower People launched their first ever website, began to advertise and gained a social media platform to display finished work. More importantly, Phil’s Wife got her conservatory back when a permanent office was built!

The company has continued to grow, adding more shops to their portfolio: Huddersfield Market (2017-2018), Wortley, Leeds (2017-2019) and Crossgates Shopping Centre (2018-2020). Shower People’s most recent venture was their relocation within Wortley, creating an impressive flagship store, displaying one of the largest selections of walk-in baths in West Yorkshire.

In 2019 the family business welcomed Phil’s youngest daughter Henrietta to the team.

As the business continued to grow, Shower People have welcomed two new member to the family team Amanda and Rebecca to manage the office.

In 2023, with a fresh showroom revamp, the company launched kitchen fitting as a new service.

Coming soon will be a large extension to the office and showroom in LS12 with new and improved displays with more kitchens.

Opened in 2019, our flagship showroom is our largest to date. Displaying the largest selection of walk-in baths in Yorkshire, as well as various furniture ranges, wetrooms, shower enclosures, floor and wall coverings, this showroom has it all.

What we do

We offer a complete package, starting with an initial survey right through to bathroom & kitchen aftercare. Customers can come visit us in our showroom and take a look at our displays, showcasing what we have to offer. We operate a free no obligation survey and as part of the service, aim to leave you with a plan and price. Many of our competitors take weeks to provide customers with quotes.

Here at Shower people, we see your bathroom & kitchen renovation plans through from start to finish. We differ from similar companies in that we take the hassle away, creating a plan, provide goods, use our trusted fitters and ethically remove all rubbish at the end of the job. The customer doesn’t have to prepare anything or lift a finger; unless they want to pop the kettle on from time to time.

We specialise in easy access bathing, using baths and showers but with a contemporary design twist. Just because you cannot get into your bath anymore it doesn’t mean your bathroom can’t be a stylish space you want to spend time relaxing in. We have contacts within many lines of trade and large suppliers. This enables us to offer you competitive prices and a reliable service.

Our pressure free quotation promises to leave customers at ease, knowing that they don’t have to book there and then. Our friendly and knowledgeable surveyors will discuss options and design a new modern layout plan to suit you. Our design team are on hand to send 3-D visuals of your bathroom or kitchen and will send with a price straight to your inbox. The service is free, friendly and does not follow hard-sales techniques. We understand individual needs.

During installation, our friendly fitting teams will walk you through the process and explain everything in great detail, so that you feel comfortable with the work taking place in your home.

A full length, walk-in bath is a perfect solution when stepping over the side of a conventional bath becomes more challenging. Fibo is a leading supplier of high-quality waterproof wall systems. Our wall systems are easy to install, durable and eco-friendly. The systems are certified according to wet-room standards and the panels come with a 25 year manufacturer’s warranty.

A Fibo wall panel is made of a layered plywood core sourced from PEFC certified wood. The boards are pressed together and covered with high-pressure laminate so that you get the membrane in front.
