350’ of Soundfront on 12+/- Acres w/ Permits

North Fork | East Marion. You remember the feeling. You’re on holiday on the coast of some Caribbean isle or on the cliff of a European town overlooking the Mediterranean. Each morning when your head leaves the pillow you know you are on vacation with broad expanses of water dotted with boats and vistas of other shores. Much closer to home, only 100 miles from Manhattan, you can recreate that feeling each and every day when you develop this very private, nearly 12 acre waterfront, meadow-like parcel composed of two 5.7 acres lots spanning 350’ along the North Fork’s Long Island Sound. With permits pending, a savvy buyer would save hundreds of thousands of dollars and months of waiting to begin construction of a significant house, waterside pool, tennis court and even a guest house for those who would undoubtedly flock to help you enjoy your grand, new estate. The low, but stable bluff, provides easy access down a gentle pebbled path to the beach from where you’ll enjoy an abundance of aquatic activities while conversation and laughter will resound around the inevitable nighttime beach fires. The property affords ample opportunity to create your own vineyard, apple orchard or a field of wildflowers through which your driveway will meander right to your front door. Only a few miles from both the ferries of Greenport and Orient Point, this well positioned property provides easy access to everything that has made the North Fork the new sought after destination. At night, go into town for dinner at one of the waterfront restaurants overlooking Shelter Island or head to one of the many vineyards for a wine tasting. But on clear evenings, eat early as you might want to get back for some of the most beautiful sunsets anywhere, as the sun seems to disappear somewhere into the Sound leaving the horizon a purplish haze. Let The Season Begin! See page 52

Welcome to our annual Memorial Day “Summer Kick Off” issue! It’s the official start of the summer season in the Hamptons and our team has put together an amazing issue to help us all get a jump start on things. Beverly Stephen has been hard at work researching some of the best places to stay and eat in “Let The Season

ABOUT THE COVER

Begin.” Kelli Delaney Kot shows us how to kick off the summer in style in her At Home feature, “Make Way for Memorial Day.” Now that warmer weather is upon us, check out this month’s “Entertaining Al Fresco” shopping piece for inspiration to spruce up your outdoor spaces.

This month’s Designer Showcase features a Sag Harbor home that recently captured a national headline in the Wall Street Journal that read: “They Love Their $14.95 Million Hamptons House. The Problem? Their Dog Hates It.” The story revolved around designer Bryan Graybill and his husband, Daniel Dokos, who are selling their Sag Harbor waterfront home due to their goldendoodle Rufus’ longing for their East Hampton home near the ocean beaches.

Graybill’s design prowess, inspired by historical elements and Nantucket architecture, transformed the Sag Harbor property into a sun-soaked, five-bedroom retreat that is now on the market, listed with Erica Grossman of Douglas Elliman Real Estate.

Also in this issue, don’t miss Hannah Selinger’s “Outdoor

Space Rehab” with tips from experts on getting your outdoor space entertainment ready; Heather Senison has something for all the art lovers — make sure to read her piece, “A Fresh Layer of Art” for inspiration on how to display your beautiful collection. Also, don’t miss everyone’s favorite column, Realty Check for the latest sales and listings along with a dollop of gossip... plus so much more in this special Memorial Day edition. Enjoy the issue!

Claudette Greenstein, Publisher @hamptonsrealestateshowcase

This month’s cover property is presented by Susan Breitenbach and Cutter Koster of The Corcoran Group, showcasing a newly constructed 7,500 SF traditional home nestled on a quiet cul-de-sac in Bridgehampton South on nearly 2 acres of lush landscaping. Featuring a gourmet chef’s kitchen with marble countertops, a spacious formal dining room, and a sunroom with panoramic views of the beautiful grounds. Boasting 9 bedrooms, the master suite has a fireplace and its own private balcony. A third-level sun deck has magnificent ocean views. This residence is quintessential Hamptons luxury living.

HAMPTON HABITUÉS

Good News Gossip About Our Notable Friends and Neighbors.

Who’s ready for summer? With a season that’s already jam-packed with amazing events, we sure are! And we predict that this one might just be the best summer yet! From fundraisers to plays, concerts, movies and more, the East End is once again center stage — here in the Hamptons and beyond.

BREAKFAST OF CHAMPIONS

East Hampton’s Jerry Seinfeld makes his directorial debut with Unfrosted, now streaming on Netflix. Also credited as a writer and starring in the project, the film is loosely based on the creation of Pop-Tarts breakfast pastries and the ensuing competition between American-based rivals Kellogg’s and Post Cereal in trying to come up with the perfect shelf-stable alternative to breakfast in a bowl.

This film features practically as many stars as there are sprinkles on the sugary breakfast treat. Actors in the ensemble include Melissa McCarthy, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, James Marsden, Jack McBrayer, Dan Levy, Bill Burr, Christian Slater, Hugh Grant, Peter Dinklage, Jon Hamm, Cedric the Entertainer, Bobby Moynihan, Max Greenfield, Tony Hale, Fred Armisen, Dean Norris and East Hampton’s John Slattery. For fans of comedy, nostalgia, and a bit of silly good-hearted fun, this one takes the … er, breakfast baked good.

DYNASTIC DRAMA

East Hampton-based John Slattery, Talia Balsam and their son, Harry Slattery, star in a family affair that we absolutely cannot wait to catch at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor this summer.

Now staging, The Subject Was Roses, a Pulitzer Prize- and two-time Tony Award winning play by Frank D. Gilroy, is the first Mainstage production of the season.

The drama, which features a breakout star turn by the younger Slattery, tells the tale of a World War II veteran who returns home to the Bronx after his service. Packed with powerful emotion, the play touches on the fragility of love, familial relationships, and reconciliation.

FAMILY AFFAIR

Whilst on the subject of talented troupes, applause all around for Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton. The mother-daughter authors are at it again with another amazing kids’ book. This one, Waiting in the Wings, is about a real-life family of ducks that hatched in the courtyard at Sag Harbor’s Bay Street Theater. A celebration of the impact of the theatrical arts, the book is sure to be a hit.

PUTTING IT ON THE PAGE

Also out on bookshelves is Ann Liguori’s Life on the Green: Lessons and Wisdom from Legends of Golf The paperback, which was released last month, includes interviews with Jack Nicklaus, Annika Sorenstam, Gary Player, Jan Stephenson, Tom Watson, Padraig Harrington, Bernhard Langer, Nancy Lopez, and more. Love it!

BUY THIS BOOK

Iconic artist Audrey Flack also has a big book out and it’s a heck of a read! The memoir, With Darkness Came Stars, is a beautifully written tome that brings the reader inside the East Hampton resident’s amazing life.

This one has it all — Flack’s challenges in navigating the sexist art world, escaping an abusive marriage, and her struggles of raising children as a single mother. And yet, the book is a celebration of beauty of light. No surprise, since this amazing lady exudes it herself.

COTTAGE CORE

Speaking of beauty, Aerin Lauder has launched AERIN Collections for Summertime Entertaining at Williams Sonoma. The recently launched collection includes tabletop and furniture lines inspired by Lauder’s home in East Hampton. The unique pieces, curated for summer entertaining, feature her trademark timeless designs and simply sophisticated style.

THE END

Looking ahead, it just wouldn’t be summer without a big blockbuster action franchise film. One of this year’s hottest Labor Day pics will most likely be Transformers One

Starring Montauk’s Scarlett Johansson and produced by East Hampton’s Steven Spielberg, the animated movie tells the as-yet untold story of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Other actors lending voices include Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Keegan Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm

Hot Sales and Listings with a Dollop of Hamptons Gossip

Wax up those surfboards! Fire up those grills! Fake-tan those beach bodies! Summer is officially here! The weather forecasters are predicting a hot one, so make sure you set aside plenty of time for the beach and pool.

JULY: THE NEW AUGUST?

Also hot, according to some real estate agents we know, is July. Whereas in previous years, of course, August was the prime month for rentals, according to some July is now more soughtafter. Why? Crowding and traffic, apparently. Hm, not our favorites either…

A DACHA IN SOUTHAMPTON

The Hamptons house of Ahmet Ertegun , the legendary music executive, and his interior designer wife Mica has just come on the market asking $52 million. Erica Grossman at Douglas Elliman and Tim Davis of The Corcoran Group have the listing.

Ertegun, who worked with such luminaries as Ray Charles and the Rolling Stones, founded Atlantic Records. He sold the company to Warner Bros in 1967 but stayed on as chairman. He died in 2006, while his wife passed away last December.

The Erteguns built the roughly 11,000-squarefoot house in the style of a Russian dacha because the site reminded the Romanian-born Mica of nineteenth-century Russia. The copper roof and the yellow siding are typical of dachas. The house was designed in 1990 by Jaquelin T. Robertson

This being Southampton, not St. Petersburg, of course the 5.5-acre grounds include a private dock on a creek that leads to Shinnecock Bay as well as a 75-foot-long outdoor pool and manicured gardens with cherry trees.

The ten-bedroom house includes classical features such as columns and Palladian windows. The living room is designed as a two-story cube, one of the ideal ratios for rooms as theorized by Andrea Palladio. But, after seeing the original plans for the house, Ertegun had the room enlarged to accommodate an orchestra. One would expect nothing less from a music legend.

MORE AGENCY

The Agency, founded by Mauricio Umansky in Beverly Hills in 2011, is opening a second office in the Hamptons, this time in East Hampton. It’s being managed by veteran agents Rylan

Jacka and Randi Ball . The first office, owned by Dana Trotter and Tyler Whitman , opened last summer in Bridgehampton. “Inspired by architecture, design, and landscape, Rylan is in a never-ending pursuit of the perfect Hamptons home and property. From the surf cottages in Montauk and Amagansett to the timeless estates in East Hampton, and the historic whaling homes in Sag Harbor, to the bucolic farmhouses in Sagaponack, Rylan has a deep knowledge of the different hamlets,” his bio reads.

Long Island native and former city resident Ball has focused on Amagansett and East Hampton for the past 10 years. Her bio says, “With a background in journalism and marketing from the University of Maryland, Randi honed her skills in boutique advertising firms and production companies before transitioning to real estate.” Other Agency offices on Long Island are in Bay Shore and Huntington. The Agency is one of the fastest growing brokerages in the country; the Los Angeles office is featured on Netflix’s Buying Beverly Hills

OSPREY HOUSE

One of our favorite designers/builders/flippers, the team of Heiberg Cummings , has just

finished their latest project. While the team usually focuses on Sag Harbor, their newest property is on Shelter Island. Asking $11.25 million, Osprey House is represented by Stacey G. Cohen at Saunders. Set on half an acre, the 4,500 square-foot house includes five bedrooms, four bathrooms, and a half bath, as well as a gym and sauna on the lower level.

As always, every aspect of the property has been thoughtfully designed and curated by the team with its signature casual, coastal elegance. Materials include antique Turkish stone sinks, reclaimed wood, polished concrete, and classic clapboard, while the eat-in kitchen features brushed brass surfaces. Four fireplaces warm the interiors and the rooftop terrace overlooking Smith Cove; the rooftop also includes a rooftop bar for epic sunset parties. Perched on a hill, the property offers wonderful views of the bay, Sag Harbor, and North Haven.

Outside is a deep-water dock on the 98’ of water frontage and a waterside 12’ by 25’ gunite pool. There is also a separate patio among the hardscaping and the manicured gardens. The house, part of the South Ferry Hills Association which includes access to private beaches, is located near the South Ferry, making day trips to the South and North Forks simple and convenient.

OPEN HOUSE

Listing brokers James Peyton and John Frangeskos of The Corcoran Group, along with Black Mountain Capital, hosted a recent open

house at a newly constructed Talo Builders masterpiece at 11 Dering Lane in East Hampton. Sponsors included Land Rover, Feline Vodka, Rustik Cakes, La Parmigiana, La Hacienda, Homestead Window Treatments, Stone Castle, Talo Builders and Corcoran. Hamptons Real Estate Showcase magazine was the media sponsor. A big shout out and thank you to the event organizer, Carrie Brudner of Black Mountain Capital!

PSST! WANNA BUY A RESTAURANT?

Surfside Inn, a longtime Montauk hostelry on Old Montauk Highway, has been relisted for sale. Close to downtown Montauk, the restaurant and

Just across from Umbrella Beach, the 0.43acre property offers spectacular ocean views from its indoor and outdoor dining areas. The 5,100-square-foot building includes 11 guest rooms on the third and fourth floors. The restaurant seats about 70, with a lounge area, bar, and outdoor dining on a deck and covered porches.

The inn was originally a telegraph station by the Point. Old family friends of this writer Hilda and Knowles Smith moved the building to the old highway in the early 1920s and called it the Wyandanch. Other names for the inn over the years included the Ocean View, the Anzac House, and Surf & Sand; during WWII Coast Guard officers were billeted there. No wonder that its motto is “Montauk, the way it used to be.”

Such an offering includes grandfathered commercial space that cannot be replicated elsewhere, but, of course, the potential exists to reconfigure the guest rooms to be larger and the restaurant to be rearranged. There is also an apartment for the owners, as well as a detached garage in the rear.

From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the Hamptons are THE place to be.

EHP Resort & Marina

The 50-mile stretch of Atlantic coastline from Westhampton to Montauk is studded with pristine beaches and villages boasting pricey real estate, buzzy restaurants, and chic shops. The party never stops from casual lobster boils to fancy fundraisers. Boating is always appealing and so are golf, tennis, horseback-riding and now pickle ball. Cocktails and conversation punctuate spectacular sunsets.

For those who are not homeowners or house guests, there are more desirable hotel options than there used to be.

Renovated Gurney’s Montauk Resort and Saltwater Spa is the only luxury hotel right on the beach — and a spectacular stretch of beach it is. Its Scarpetta Beach restaurant offers Italian fine dining. A thalassotherapy experience puts wellness front and center.

Montauk Yacht Club offers accommodations with docks and a new gourmet restaurant.

In Sag Harbor, Baron’s Cove’s 67 rooms offer harbor or village views.

In Hampton Bays, recently restored Canoe Place Inn & Cottages joins the party with its Good Ground Tavern, a new concert venue called Front Row Canoe, and a beach butler service. (The original name of Hampton Bays was Good Ground.)

What better way to enjoy local fish and seafood than at a restaurant overlooking the water.

Bostwick’s on the Harbor, with a locally sourced seafood menu, offers stunning sunsets in a casual setting. The more upmarket SiSi Mediterranean Restaurant, where it’s possible to arrive by boat, attracts a fashionable crowd and elevates the dining

scene in the Springs section of East Hampton. Roasted striped bass or Bucatini Verde with lobster accompanied by a crisp white fits the bill as you watch the sunset over Three Mile Harbor. Financier and media mogul Heath Freeman’s opening salvo was SiSi and the renovation of EHP

& Marina. A redo of Sunset Harbor soon followed as did the takeover of Red Bar, now Enchante Bistro in Southampton, where steak frites, salad Lyonnaise and Peconic escargot please Francophiles. This season will see added amenities and menu tweaks. EHP Resort & Marina guests will be treated to complimentary boat rides abord the luxurious 40 foot van Dutch from June through August.

In the village of Southampton, Zach Erdem’s 75 Main (“Serving the Hamptons”) is a celebrity magnet — no water view needed. Tony Sant Ambroeus has opened an outpost in East Hampton. The Tutto il Giorno restaurant group of Southampton and Sag Harbor now has a small outpost in East Hampton,

Tutto Caffé. Highly regarded Mexican chef Julian Medina made a splash last summer with El Verano whose décor evokes Mexican summer vacation homes. This season he plans “to use a lot of local, seasonal ingredients, like baked clams, zucchini flower salad, or whole lobster.”

Most enduring of all in East Hampton is Nick & Toni’s which opened in 1988. It never fails to please or to attract celebrities with its ItalianMediterranean cuisine, much of it cooked in a wood oven. Menu standouts include spinach and ricotta tortellini en brodo, Paccheri Bolognese, and a wood oven roasted whole fish with preserved lemon citronette.

In Sag Harbor, regulars flock waterside to The Beacon for best views of the sunset as they have been doing for 26 years. Locals are also loyal to the American Hotel and the newer LuLu Kitchen & Bar where a signature wood-roasted cauliflower is a crowd pleaser. Billy Durney’s Sag Harbor Tavern will take over the space where Dockside Bar & Grill held sway for years.

In Bridgehampton, Jean-Georges’ Topping Rose House, Pierre’s, Almond, and Bobby Van’s continue to attract. This season welcomes Arthur & Sons from Michelin star chef Joe Isidori. Guests can expect classic Italian American dishes such as chicken parmigiana and shrimp scampi.

In Sagaponack, between Bridgehampton and East Hampton sits the lovely Wölffer Estate Vineyards, home of the famous Summer in a Bottle rosé. Wölffer rosé will be poured along with some 20 other rosés at Dan’s Rosé Soiree on May 26 at the Southampton Arts Center.

Farther east in Amagansett, the ever popular

Rowdy Hall has relocated from East Hampton. Its chic black exterior has been the cause of some controversy among those who don’t like a black storefront. Its menu retains many of its popular favorites like the Rowdy burger, French onion soup, and fish and chips as well as its strong beer program. Top notch Fini Pizza was opened last year by Sean Feeney, a co-owner with Missy Robbins of Brooklyn’s Lilia and Misi. Il Buco al Mare is not just a place to eat but also to shop for beautiful tableware imported from Italy. Coche Comedor, from the team behind Nick & Toni’s and La Fondita, presents a full Mexican menu from Baja style shrimp tacos to apricot-tamarind duck. Carissa’s is THE bakery with a breakfast and lunch menu featuring such unusual sandwiches as a beet Reuben. It also has a new branch in Sag Harbor.

At the end of the island Montauk beckons. It’s especially attractive to surfers and it’s a little less scene-y although it attracts its share of party

goers and celebs. New is Talya, a design forward restaurant at Ruschmeyer’s, a vivid part of the party scene, as is the Surf Club. But Talya chef Geoffrey Lechantoux, who has worked for Alain Ducasse and Gordon Ramsey promises to impress with his Mediterranean-Greek cuisine. Duryea’s endures as does Gosman’s Dock with its legendary lobster rolls and homemade clam chowder. Don’t fail to check out the Montauk Point Lighthouse commissioned by George Washington in 1792.

Not all of the eating takes place in restaurants. “Parties are back! And with all the bells and whistles and more!” says Art of Eating’s Cheryl Stair. “Popular hors d’oeuvres include our artichoke risotto cakes, Hamachi with grapefruit and jalapeño, and glazed pork belly served on a summer corn pancake.” And now pizza is having a moment with the Motorino Neapolitan Pizza Trailer coming out to the Hamptons for on-demand pizza parties.

Retailers must feel confident that there is once

again a need to get dressed. The world’s richest man of the moment Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH who restored the flagship Tiffany in Manhattan, bought One Main Street in East Hampton for $22 million. His two-story Louis Vuitton store joins Chanel, Prada, and Valentino. Thankfully there’s also a J. Crew.

If there’s an overload of shopping and dining, the peaceful gardens at LongHouse Reserve are a welcome respite.

For a dose of culture check out a quality production at Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor or the Hampton Theater Company in Quogue or visit the Parish Art Museum in Water Mill.

The Hampton Classic horse show over Labor Day weekend is the biggest social bash of all. Trust the horsey set to present the season’s grandest grand finale

OUTDOOR SPACE REHAB

Get your backyard ready for a party with these expert-led tips. BY

If Memorial Day Weekend marks the unofficial start to summer, it also marks the unofficial start to backyard season. That is: the weekend during which every homeowner realizes that it’s time to start reconsidering the look, feel, and function of his or her backyard. How can you get your outdoor space looking its best? What should you clean? What should you ignore? What plantings need to be cut back, and when? What’s the do-or-die timeline for making your paradise look like you haven’t ignored it all season? And is that even possible?

I wanted to know a little more about how homeowners could get their outdoor spaces ready for the upcoming holiday, so I spoke with Susan Cohan, the principal of the New Jersey-based Susan Cohan Gardens.

“Everyone,” she says, “should think about how they are going to use their outdoor space throughout the season. They should also assess how much maintenance they want to participate in or not.”

Waiting until May to plan your garden or garden clean-up? Methinks not. A better tactic is to take on the big stuff well before you plan to host a garden party with friends, which will prevent any last-

minute scrambling (and will give you time to think through how you want to approach your space for the upcoming season).

In fact, Cohan says, part of the magic of maintaining a magical space lies in year-round prevention and maintenance. “A general rule is that summerblooming perennials should be cut back in late winter/early spring, before the first flush of growth,” she says. “The same holds true for ornamental grasses. A good general fertilizer can be applied, and the garden areas cleaned of debris and lightly mulched.”

But, if you haven’t thought way ahead, you don’t have to be discouraged. There are, Cohan confirms, plenty of ways to make your space look robust and beautiful, even if you have accidentally left your outdoor space languishing until the last minute. And some of these hacks may even be easier than you think.

“Clean the grill and outdoor kitchen,” she advises. “Apply any annual finishes to wood and stone that need it. Power-wash surfaces that are dirty or mildewy. Add some new cushions and pillows. Empty and clean planters and fill them for the holiday with summer-loving plants.” Et voila! A brand-new (or, at the very least, greatly improved) space is born. Annuals may not be a long-term solution, but they can provide a little last-minute

pep if you’ve missed out on a hard prune. And never underestimate the power of a new set of cushions when you need them most.

As for the future, start thinking about Memorial Day, well, a long, long time before the actual holiday. Every year, we talk about how quickly the season creeps up on us, and that timeline is accelerated when it comes to plantings. “Plan any improvements to happen in the spring or fall before the season starts,” Cohan says. But if you can’t, a little elbowgrease can fill in where pruning can’t.

THE DESIGNER BRYAN GRAYBILL ARTFULLY REIMAGINES A HOUSE IN SAG HARBOR

Last spring a story about a house in Sag Harbor made national news. The headline was a good one: “They Love Their $14.95 Million Hamptons House. The Problem? Their Dog Hates It.”

According to this article, which ran in the Wall Street Journal, the homeowners, a married couple named Daniel Dokos and Bryan Graybill decided to sell their waterfront property in Sag Harbor for the sake of their beloved goldendoodle. It seemed that the dog, Rufus, prefers East Hampton to Sag Harbor.

Lucky for him the couple also have a beautiful house in East Hampton. In 2018, they were renovating that place when they bought a dilapidated 1,600-square-foot cottage on a half-acre plot of land in the historic district of Sag Harbor on one of the loveliest streets in the village.

Although the nineteen-fifties era cottage wasn’t much to speak of — ”There was dry rot on the porch and the windows weren’t great,” says Graybill the property had views of Upper Sag Harbor Cove to the west and a marsh and a bird sanctuary to the north. Working with the architect Andrew Cogar of Historical Concepts, Graybill, an interior designer who trained in the UK under the late David Collins, completely overhauled the simple wood-framed cottage of which hardly any trace remains (Graybill says “It was on its last legs”), in addition to adding a pool, a pool house, and a garage. Style-wise, they went back in time, creating a sun-soaked five-bedroom, 4,200-squarefoot retreat that both references the village’s past and evokes the feel of an English country home (minus the bad weather).

Graybill and Cogar drew architectural inspiration from images they discovered at the Sag Harbor Whaling Museum. In the course of their research, they learned that an elevated

railroad ran from Sag Harbor to Southampton from the late eighteen hundreds to about the nineteen-thirties. It so happened that this railroad traversed a corner of Dokos and Graybill’s property. Also on the property were a series of warehouses. Graybill liked the idea of living in a space that was connected to the past in a modern way; and so, based upon the pictures they found, he and Cogar set about

artfully reimagining a historic warehouse-like structure. “We were liberal in our interpretation of those images. The original warehouses were fairly austere and they didn’t have a lot of windows,” says Graybill. To maximize natural light and make the most of the property’s fantastic sunsets, he and Cogar looked to the architecture of Nantucket, another prosperous, one-time sea-faring community, and they took

pains to orient all the public rooms to the west.

But that was just the first part of the project. The second challenge was to turn their vision of industrial chic into a cozy single-family home. To this end, Graybill created interiors that conjure a house in the Cotswolds. The result is a kind of unified eclecticism in which deep colors and textures play off each other in a vibrant way.

“I wanted it to be a four-seasons house,” says Graybill, “not a beach house that’s only used eight weeks out of the year. I wanted it to feel warm.” That sense of warmth is reflected in the traditional rush matting on a sun porch; glass windows that serve as interior partitions; the English kitchen, complete with banquette seating and a refectory table brought over from

the UK; the high-shine glazed ceilings and main bedroom walls — a blush color that catches the sun’s rays on the water and changes with the light.

The house is listed with Erica Grossman of Douglas Elliman Real Estate and Tim Davis of The Corcoran Group. “Of all the homes I’ve represented in the Hamptons, this is one of my all-time favorites,” says Grossman. “It’s truly a masterpiece of design by Bryan Graybill.” Given the gloriousness of the interiors, you may wonder if the couple’s impulse to give the house up is entirely Rufus’s fault. Well, not exactly. Graybill blames the sea birds — remember the view of the bird sanctuary? — as the dog gets exercised by the sight of water fowl. “But we are partial to East Hampton,” he admits, “since there’s more room for us to spread out.”

The Fine Art Photography of Bob Tabor

They say that a person’s signature carries their energy. In the case of photographer Bob Tabor, his signature style carries an energy that feels almost three dimensional, creating vibrant images people not only want to view but live with intimately in their homes. He even attends every installation, deriving a deep artistic satisfaction. “I want to see your eyes when the image becomes part of your life. I never name my work. It’s only a number because I want you to write the script. It’s your beach, it’s your splash, it’s your horse, it’s all you.”

An Executive Creative Director for top New York City ad agencies for over forty years, Tabor has worked with the best directors, photographers and graphic designers in the business. “When the time came to broaden my horizons, instead of critiquing others work I started to do my own,”

explains Tabor, “I don’t just shoot the surface which I call God’s palette, I go deeper below.”

Tabor’s graphic acumen is another signature element in presenting his limited editions, carefully composing not only the shot but the way it is cropped. His equine images, earned with the horse’s trust, capture their soul and the cropping puts a different spin on his visuals. He was discovered by the people from Ralph Lauren and his work is in their shops on four continents. His images have such a painterly quality that the manager at the Ralph Lauren store thought it looked so much like a water color that he asked him to take it out of the frame.

And while he exhibits internationally, it is East Hampton where he has been since 1978 and eventually built his own home where his creative spirit thrives. “There’s nothing like it on earth,” he says. Tabor is especially passionate about his work when he heads to the beach, recently debuting his “Splash” series.

“At the beach I am visualizing every moment that changes. I see the image before I take it. I am able to get it down to one frame and know where I am going with it. I use a long lens to flatten out the visuals and make a presentation of the final image that is very graphic.” Interior designers love his work not only for its visual appeal but because he can print in all different sizes to suit the specific space in a home. Some are single prints, others triptychs, and his Splash images are even part of a limited series of surfboards he has created.

You could say that Tabor is old school, he prefers books to Kindle and told his students at the School of Visual Arts to find a way to turn off all the technology. “I would tell them; you look but you don’t see what you’re looking at.” He is also not necessarily a fan of very conceptual art. He tells the story of being in an art show where the installation next to his was a brick on the floor and a tattered piece of cloth with haphazard paint and a hole in it. “That was the show and six times the cost of any of my pictures,” recounts Tabor, “And it sold! I asked the artist ‘What is this?’ and he said, ‘You don’t understand the force with which that brick went through that painting which is a representation of my inner being, my heart and broke it.’ I gave him the name of my therapist and said you should call him.”

Tabor speaks about the importance of support as a creative person and credits Andrea McCafferty and Kat O’Neill at the White Room Gallery in East Hampton for their long-term guidance and representation. “They have an eye being both artists the way they curate the shows and it’s also lovely the way they take care of their customers.”

From the photographer to his subject, from the art to its buyer, and from everyone who keeps personal connections to keep the creative arts alive and well, it may be just one click of the shutter, but it is a lifetime of enjoyment.

A new season is here, and that means new places to eat.

Summer is back on the East End, and with it all the news of openings, reopenings, and refreshers for the season. Although we don’t yet know about all the pop-ups and new hot spots that this season will bring, we do know about a few emerging new — and re-framed — spots in the Hamptons that you’ll want to make sure you get to this season. It’s time to get eating on the East End, and there are some exciting things brewing.

New to the Hamptons this year: the awardwinning Motorino Pizzeria Napoletana, which is expanding out East with a custom-built, woodfired pizza trailer that will be available for ondemand pizza parties. The pizza company was founded in 2008 by Chef Mathieu Palombino in New York City and has since brought its Neapolitan pies around the world, to places like Hong Kong, Manila, Singapore, Dubai, and Kuala Lampur.

Pizzas are made with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and signature menus include pizzas like the classic Margherita; the Soppressata Piccante, with fior di latte mozzarella, spicy soppressata, Calabrian chili, and fresh oregano; a Brussels sprout pizza; and a Cherrystone clam pizza, made with freshshucked local clams and oreganata butter. Guests can also order antipasti (heirloom tomatoes with buffalo mozzarella; Yukon gold potato salad with celery and capers; pork meatballs braised in tomato sauce; fried calamari), a prosciutto station, and an Italian gelato cart featuring six artisanal gelato and sorbetto flavors — along with homemade tiramisu.

It’s not entirely new, but it’s still creating buzz. In the fall, Rowdy Hall, the East Hampton veteran, relocated to Main Street in Amagansett. Owned and operated by the Honest Man Hospitality team, who also owns and operates Nick & Toni’s, Coche Comedor, La Fondita, and Townline BBQ,

Rowdy Hall continues to serve some of the classics that made it a popular destination for 26 years in its previous location.

But new items have also arrived on the menu, and the spring and summer menus will evolve, too. Rowdy 2.0 now features dishes like roasted codfish brandade with beurre blanc and wilted greens, a duck and smoked pork cassoulet with white beans and Halsey apples, and a cider-brined Berkshire pork chop with red cabbage and mustard sauce. The restaurant has also added a “boards” section, featuring a selection of charcuterie items that can be customized for snacking.

In the fall, Hampton Eats, the Hamptons’ first multi-vendor eatery, launched in East Hampton. The project was spearheaded by food operator Rashid Sulehri and real-estate developer Adam Potter. It’s a one-stop-shop where hungry diners can find, say, jelly-stuffed croissants from the Montauk Bake Shoppe, pizza from Paul’s, and sandwiches from Villa Italian Specialties

In addition to participating vendors — besides the aforementioned, vendors include Beach Bakery & Grand Café, Stuart’s Seafood, Hampton Coffee, and Eli’s Breads — shoppers can find a self-serve frozen yogurt station, bubble tea, fresh fruit, smoothies, juices, pre-packaged local products, and a nascent Mediterranean menu, which will launch in time for the summer season.

Hamptons homes are mini galleries. Collectors of various mediums, and degrees of seriousness, love to show their treasures and rarities from their travels and scavenges. But when it comes to displaying art in your home, there’s more to it than hanging a painting on your living room wall, designers say.

To show it properly is to layer.

“Layering art is a way to create depth and dimension within a space,” explained Paul De Andrade, founder of Studio Kestrel, a New York City design studio with projects in the Hamptons. One technique is, “placing sculptural elements in front or adjacent to artwork like paintings or other sculptures,” he said.

Art is so significant that it’s among the first things interior designers consider, added Elena Frampton, founder of Frampton Co, a studio based in Bridgehampton and New York City. “We conceive

art from the outset of a project to ensure proper planning considerations from the aesthetic to the pragmatic,” she said.

After all, it’s more than a decoration, noted Noa Santos, founder of NAINOA, an architecture and design firm with a studio in the Hamptons. Art is a tool to reinforce the visual narrative throughout a home. “Art can set a tone, shift a mood or evoke a particular memory that makes you smile, laugh, linger or even feel something entirely new,” he said.

Thinking of changing up your space, or have some new pieces to put somewhere? We asked our pros for tips:

PLAY WITH PROPORTION

Rather than grouping a few artistic photographs, layering entails the opposite. “Embrace the odd pairing,” Santos explained. Mix classic oil paintings with contemporary works or abstract canvases against vintage photos, he suggested.

“Collectors often get ultra-focused on a particular medium,” Frampton agreed. “We like to explore a more diverse curation and introduce our clients to other options and other ways of seeing.” She encourages blurring boundaries between art and design, such as mixing limited-edition furniture with fine art. For example, in a recent Amagansett project, Frampton installed a unique light fixture layered against a color field painting by Ted Kurahara. Paintings set behind sculptures can add dimension too, she said. For wall-mounted work, incorporate smaller pieces to emphasize scale and proportion.

ADJUST THE FOCUS

The thing about art, De Andrade said, is that by going against the design scheme of a room, it can

bring the space to life. In neutral spaces, it can add bold and vibrant color to an otherwise serene palette. “Sculptural installations, in particular, seem to be less common in the Hamptons, yet they can be captivating,” he said.

When used as focal points, “art becomes a powerful catalyst for storytelling,” Santos added. “By strategically positioning art within a room, you can give the space a sense of purpose.” Try placing a sculpture on an attention-grabbing pedestal made of opal or travertine, for example. Another idea is to hang a large-scale painting behind a sculptural chandelier, Santos suggested. “The chandelier will create a striking silhouette against the artwork behind it and a dynamic lighting scheme in the foreground,” he said.

GROW YOUR CREATIVITY

When asked about unconventional spaces to layer in art, our designers unanimously suggested the bathroom. One recalls a sculpture occupying a (rarely used) tub. Meanwhile, chandeliers and threedimensional pieces placed in the crevice of a high ceiling make good use of Hamptons architecture.

Art comes in many forms, after all, from wallpaper to furnishings and interesting light fixtures. And don’t forget your houseplants.

“I think that live plants as a sculptural element are a highly under-appreciated form of artwork that can be used for layering,” De Santos said. Have high ceilings and ample sunlight? Bring in a 6-foot olive tree or bird of paradise in an oversized urn or planter. “The foliage will instantly imbue the space with a sculptural, organic feel that will enhance the other artwork pieces in the room,” he said.

Meet the Broker

Meet Kimberly Cammarata, a distinguished broker with Douglas Elliman, whose journey into real estate in the Hamptons is fueled by an undeniable passion for the area's lifestyle, community, and natural splendor. With a genuine commitment to serving her clients, Kimberly sets herself apart through a personalized approach, prioritizing communication, attention to detail, and a steadfast dedication to achieving exceptional results.

HRES: Why did you become a broker in the Hamptons?

KC: I have a real passion for the area. I love the lifestyle that the Hamptons affords, the people and the community feel, and the natural beauty all around. I find great fulfillment in helping others find their perfect home here, and in seeing family’s create a nucleus for their children to come back to and spend quality time together for generations to come.

HRES: What qualities or certifications set you apart from other agents?

KC: I think real estate is largely a people business. I try and lead with a personal touch, taking the time to really get to know my client and their needs. I stay in close contact, I get back to people right away, and I enjoy the journey together. I’m very detailedoriented and I care about the end result, so my hope is that clients who are working with me feel like they have a trusted friend, advisor and advocate throughout the process.

HRES: What strategies do you employ to stay updated with the latest market trends and developments in real estate, and how do you apply this knowledge to benefit your clients?

KC: Being able to tap into the global reach and the cutting-edge technologies that Douglas Elliman offers really elevates the experience for my clients, as I’m able to share all the information, resources, and tools I have access to with them. I also have an incredible marketing department and an in-house public relations team behind me, so I’m able to stay ahead of the curve on things like social media, reels, marketing, print

advertising, and editorial opportunities. I also really appreciate the many opportunities to network with top agents across the country with many events and functions in our key markets. Whether I’m attending an event to learn insights about our jointly produced annual Wealth Report with our international partner Knight Frank, or I’m connecting with agents at the Hampton Classic, or other amazing brand events in California, Florida, or Manhattan, there is so much opportunity to develop relationships and refer business across the world which really benefits my clients.

HRES: What kind of clients could benefit from your services?

KC: I’m a full-service agent, working with buyers, sellers, developers and investors. I’m knowledgeable in all facets of the industry and I enjoy meeting the unique challenges of each deal.

HRES: How have the needs and desires of home buyers changed over the past two years?

KC: Hamptons buyers still want homes built for entertaining, where their families can come. The right amenities remain a huge driving factor. In the last few years, I’ve seen a big increase in the popularity of Pickleball courts. Lifestyle amenities like movie theaters and hot tubs are always on the want list.

HRES: One of your specialties is new construction, could you share some insights on your approach to marketing and showcasing newly constructed homes?

KC: New construction takes a lot of work behind-the-scenes, sitting with the builder and coming up with a house design that works for the needs of the buyers. The visuals are very important for marketing as the goal is to make the house look appealing before it’s even done. So, there is a lot to do and to get right from creating the floor plans and renderings and then taking updated photos all the way throughout the process. There’s a lot that goes behind it and I love every minute of it.

"I LOVE THE LIFESTYLE THAT THE HAMPTONS AFFORDS, THE PEOPLE AND THE COMMUNITY FEEL, AND THE NATURAL BEAUTY ALL AROUND."

The masterminds behind this beautiful newly built and currently for sale home are Mickey Klein and Michael Cohen, founders of Corbel Development, who bring over 30 years of combined experience in construction and design. Positioned on 2 acres of prime real estate, this exquisite home is the epitome of leisure and entertainment, with 5,320 square feet of carefully crafted living space. Their approach is defined by meticulous planning, expert craftsmanship, and a keen eye for specialty materials. Deliberately chosen materials, like Zelige tiles from Morocco and Terracotta porcelain tiles for the flooring in the temperature-controlled wine room, infuse this home with timeless elegance and durability.

HRES: Could you elaborate on the selection process for the specialty materials used in the rebuild?

Corbel Development: We chose to import Fior Di Bosco marble from Italy for the countertops,

backsplash, and integrated sink. This exquisite marble has warm tones with subtle elegant veining throughout, resulting in a timeless appeal without being overly obtrusive. At one point during the build process, we were having trouble getting Fior Di Bosco because the blocks in the quarry in Italy were too small, but we would not accept any substitutes because we knew this was the perfect stone for this home.

We designed the fireplace and primary bath using large-format vein cut slabs of travertine to experience the movement and organic flow of the travertine. The slabs are not only visually striking, with their warm tones and unique textures but also quite durable, ensuring long-term beauty and functionality.

The fireplace is undoubtedly the focal point of the living area. The hand-plastered finish adds depth and character to the fireplace, enhancing its visual impact. The juxtaposition of the textured

artisanal plaster against the smooth travertine creates a captivating contrast, contributing to the overall aesthetic of the home. Collectively, these carefully selected specialty materials play a pivotal role in shaping the ambiance of the home, infusing it with elegance, sophistication, and a refined sense of luxury.

HRES: What were some of the design considerations for maximizing natural light throughout the home?

CD: Maximizing natural light was a key design consideration when planning the elements to include in the rebuild. The vaulted ceilings were

designed not only for aesthetic appeal but also to enhance natural light diffusion. The increased ceiling height allows light entering from expansive glass doors on one side and floor to ceiling windows on the opposite side to penetrate deeper into the living spaces, creating a space that is naturally illuminated regardless of time of day.

The use of 12-foot glass doors in the lower level, and the primary bedroom serve a dual purpose. Firstly, it visually extends the living space by seamlessly connecting indoor and outdoor areas, such as the primary bedroom’s patio and garden. This creates a sense of continuity and expansiveness. Secondly, the large-format glass doors function as windows, allowing abundant natural light to flood the entire

area, resulting in a bright and inviting space that extends throughout the entire lower level.

HRES: How did you integrate the indoor and outdoor spaces to create a seamless flow?

CD: In designing this custom home, we focused on blurring the lines between indoor and outdoor living. The expansive floor-to-ceiling windows and strategically placed sliding doors effortlessly connect the serene interior space with the outdoor environment. The three-season room is the perfect blend of both spaces. Built with a continuity of finishes and materials to reflect the interior space but with a flooring of mahogany to incorporate the exterior deck and outdoor kitchen.

In recent years, the concept of wellness has extended beyond traditional practices like yoga and meditation to encompass various aspects of our daily lives. The bathroom, once a purely functional space, has evolved into a sanctuary for relaxation and self-care. The latest trends in wellness for the bath emphasize holistic well-being, incorporating elements that promote relaxation, rejuvenation, and a sense of tranquility. Here are some of the latest trends reshaping the bath into a wellness haven:

RITUALISTIC BATHING EXPERIENCES

Today, people seek more than just a quick shower; they desire a ritualistic bathing experience that engages all the senses. Bath rituals involve incorporating soothing elements such as aromatic candles, essential oils, bath salts, and botanical-infused bath bombs. These products not only cleanse the body but also provide therapeutic benefits, promoting relaxation and stress relief.

HIGH-TECH HYDROTHERAPY

Technological advancements have introduced innovative hydrotherapy options for home bathrooms. Hydrotherapy tubs equipped with features like adjustable water jets, chromotherapy (color therapy), and aromatherapy capabilities offer a spa-like experience at home. These tubs provide customized water pressures and temperatures, targeting specific areas of the body to alleviate muscle tension and improve circulation.

BIOPHILIC DESIGN

The concept of biophilic design emphasizes a connection with nature within indoor spaces. Bathrooms are incorporating natural elements like living green walls, potted plants, and organic materials such as wood, stone, and bamboo. These elements evoke a sense of serenity and enhance the bath’s aesthetic appeal while promoting relaxation and mental well-being.

SMART AND SUSTAINABLE FIXTURES

Smart technology has infiltrated bathroom fixtures, offering convenience and eco-friendly features. Smart showers with programmable settings for water temperature and flow rate ensure a personalized bathing experience while conserving water. Water-saving faucets and toilets equipped with sensors for touchless operation contribute to sustainable living practices.

MINDFUL BATHING PRACTICES

Mindfulness has become an integral part of wellness, even in the bath. Incorporating mindfulness techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation apps, or soft ambient music during bath time can promote mental relaxation and reduce stress levels. It’s about turning bathing into a mindful practice that rejuvenates both the body and mind.

CUSTOMIZED WELLNESS SPACES

Customization is key in creating personalized wellness spaces within the bathroom. People are opting for bespoke designs that cater to their specific needs and preferences. From steam showers and sauna installations to multi-functional showerheads and heated towel racks, these personalized touches elevate the bathing experience to suit individual wellness goals.

SENSORY LIGHTING AND SOUNDSCAPES

Lighting and sound play significant roles in creating a relaxing ambiance. Soft, adjustable lighting and soundscapes help create a calming atmosphere in the bath. LED lighting with color-changing capabilities (chromotherapy) and waterproof speakers that allow users to play soothing music or nature sounds contribute to a sensory-rich experience.

The evolution of the bathroom into a wellness sanctuary reflects a growing awareness of the importance of self-care and holistic wellbeing. As individuals seek to create spaces that nurture their mental, physical, and emotional health, the trends in bath wellness continue to evolve, offering a plethora of options for transforming daily routines into moments of rejuvenation and relaxation.

Meet The Agency

HRES sat down with Tyler Whitman, Dana Trotter, Rylan Jacka and Randi Ball to talk about why they decided to make their move to The Agency.

HRES: What inspired you to join The Agency?

Tyler Whitman: When The Agency acquired my previous company, I knew that The Hamptons was a market where this brand would dominate and be extremely well received. It is very clear that the Hamptons market responds well to the boutique approach to real estate. The Agency brand speaks to that luxury market and offers the global reach that is so important to our marketplace.

Dana Trotter: For me, the decision to join The Agency was driven by the desire for a fresh challenge and the opportunity to grow my career with a dynamic new brand. Over the years, I have been approached by many of the brokerages in the Hamptons, but a move never felt right...and those moves didn’t come with ownership. I thoroughly enjoyed my 27-year career with Sotheby's, but I was drawn to The Agency brand, its boutique approach, and its collaborative culture. When Tyler presented the opportunity to join The Agency Hamptons as a partner, it felt like the perfect alignment of timing and vision. We’ve built a vibrant team and culture, which has been immensely rewarding. Our momentum continues to grow as we are now opening our new office in East Hampton and attracting top agents like Rylan Jacka and Randi Ball.

Rylan Jacka: My decision to join The Agency was driven by a desire to offer a more personalized and adaptive

service to my clients, as well as to expand my own business capabilities. While my 17 years at Sotheby's were formative and I gained invaluable experience there, I often found the traditional brokerage models somewhat restrictive. At The Agency, I am empowered to customize my approach using innovative marketing strategies and state-of-the-art technology, which are essential for effectively managing high sales volumes. The Agency has presented me with the exceptional opportunity to play a key role in establishing a new luxury real estate boutique in the Hamptons. The East Hampton office, situated in my favorite village alley next to Tutto Caffé, boasts an atmosphere that is both fresh and vibrant.

Randi Ball: The decision to join The Agency was driven by an unexpected yet compelling opportunity that presented itself. While I had not actively sought a change, the allure of The Agency's offerings proved irresistible. Success in this industry often hinges on collaboration, and the prospect of working closely with Tyler, Dana, and Rylan is indeed a professional dream. Dana's distinguished career trajectory and unwavering professionalism have long been a source of admiration and inspiration for me. Furthermore, Rylan and I possess complementary strengths, facilitating seamless collaboration. The Agency is an exciting new addition to the Hamptons market and quite frankly I wanted to be an integral part of a fastgrowing company that mirrors my own work ethics and enthusiasm.

HRES: What makes The Agency stand out in the competitive Hamptons market in terms of the overall client experience?

Dana & Tyler: What sets The Agency Hamptons apart is our unwavering commitment to client-centered conciergestyle services. In a market crowded with "big box" real estate firms, we offer a unique boutique experience tailored to clients seeking personalized attention and top-tier service. By combining local expertise with global reach, we ensure that our clients receive unparalleled visibility in both local and international markets. Through our extensive social network and marketing strategies, we aim to elevate our clients' properties to a much broader audience while also maintaining a steadfast commitment to excellence. The Agency is reshaping the real estate experience, positioning us as the new standout choice in this esteemed market. We truly are part of the next generation of Hamptons real estate.

HRES: With your extensive experience in the industry, what advice do you have for individuals considering investing in the Hamptons real estate market, whether they are first-time buyers or seasoned investors looking to diversify their portfolio?

Dana: With over 28 years of Hamptons real estate experience, my advice to first-time buyers and seasoned investors alike is to conduct thorough research and seek

professional guidance for their Hamptons property purchases. By defining a clear set of goals and budget constraints and by working with a knowledgeable real estate agent, we can identify a suitable list of properties to review together. Local knowledge is vital in our market, and utilizing our local connections can pay huge dividends to our clients. As agents, we help buyers stay informed about market trends, regulatory changes, and other developments. Ultimately, all this information combines to enable our clients to make better, more informed investment decisions. Patience, diligence, adaptability, and local advice are often the keys to success in the Hamptons real estate market.

Plant a window box this year and enjoy your tiny garden.

Window boxes are a delightful way to garden. They’re easy to install, simple to plant, and fun to care for. They don’t require endless hours of digging, bending and weeding to maintain. Best of all, window boxes make flowers and greenery a part of your home, growing in a place where you will see the plants often and enjoy them. If you’ve never gardened before, planting a window box or two will let you try your hand at growing plants on a small and very manageable scale. Mount window boxes on porch railings, windowsills, a garden shed or balcony.

Although most window boxes are more or less rectangular, your window box garden will look more natural if it contains plants of varying heights — taller plants in the back of the box, shorter plants in the middle, and low edging or trailing plants in the front to give the box a softer, less contrived look.

When planting window boxes, don’t line up your three sizes of plants in straight rows like little soldiers. For a more flowing, natural look, stagger the plants in the rows, placing some a bit farther back and others slightly forward. To bring visual movement to the box, vary plant heights from side to side across the box as well as front to back. Place taller plants at the back of the box, medium size plants in the middle ground, and smaller plants in

the front. Including flowers that will spill over the front of the box adds charm.

Old-fashioned flowers and mixed color schemes bring a romantic look reminiscent of a cottage garden. Consider spicy-scented garden pinks, sweet William, johnny jump-ups, pansies, fuchsias, candytuft, nicotiana (flowering tobacco), cornflower, nasturtiums, calendula, primrose, French marigolds, Iceland poppy, and miniature roses.

For a romantic effect, you could include a flowering vine or two — morning glory or its night-blooming relative, moonflower, passionflowers, fragrant wisteria, honeysuckle, sweet peas or jasmine. Black-eyed Susan vine and canary creeper are other possibilities.

For a more formal look, design window boxes with plants neatly clipped and arranged in straight lines. A small evergreen centered in the back of the box adds height, and can be sheared in the shape of a neat cone or pyramid. Some plants for formal window boxes include dwarf boxwood, falsecypress (Chamaecyparis) and juniper. Upright flowering plants such as geraniums, tulips, daffodils, narcissus and impatiens also work well.

Window box containers should be at least 6 inches deep; 12 inches is even better. Wood is a classic material for window boxes; it's a good insulator and

protects plant roots from extreme temperatures better than plastic, clay or metal boxes.

Use an all-purpose potting mix, and check your boxes daily to see if they need watering. Regular watering is essential, as the small amount of soil in the boxes dries out quickly in summer weather. To keep the plants growing well, fertilize with an all-purpose liquid fertilizer beginning when the plants have been growing for several weeks. Follow the package directions.

Go over your window box plants regularly to pick off faded flowers and wilted leaves. Manybranched plants like impatiens need to be pinched back periodically to encourage bushier growth and lots of flowers. Then enjoy your tiny garden!
