Who she is Although Nicole is a transplanted Yankee, she has quickly planted her roots and is growing into her life as a Southerner. Along with her now nineteen-year-old, who attends Virginia Tech, she moved to Danville six years ago, because she has a love for old houses and architecture. “We’ve been renovating an old home on West Main Street. It’s one of the things that attracted me to this area,” Nicole says. She and her second family of two Boxers, one Yorkie, and a rescued English Bulldog spend a lot of time on the local walking trails. In a previous life, she worked for the National Security Administration and was in the Army as a Russian linguist and decoder.

Director and also assists the clinicians when needed. She’s responsible for introducing new clinical quality measures and outlining new learning resources.

Why she does it “I am very, very proud of the hospital’s efforts to support our community. I like community involvement. I love to give back. I have a long-standing involvement with Shockoe Baptist Church in Chatham and have been a children’s group leader since my children were born. My church participated in a missions trip last summer to a homeless shelter in Maryland. We provided basic groundwork and cleaning; things the shelter staff had not been able to do. It’s humbling to see how some struggle to make ends meet. There was also a program there which served meals to people in the community. Experiencing these things first hand makes you more appreciative. I don’t think

Why she does it “I love this job. I truly enjoy it. In the Critical Care Unit, we have fewer patients due to the severity of the illness and the need for the patient to have more specialized care. It’s not only a privilege to take care of the patient, but to help and get to know the family as well. For me, it’s important that I serve the community I live in.”

Who she is Monica is one of the physician liaisons at DRMC. Her primary role is to promote positive, effective relationships between the medical staff, associates, and senior leaders of the organization. She’s married to HC Sellers III. They have two girls, Brittany, thirteen, and Kristen, eight. Their family has been active in Ringgold Baptist Church for the past fourteen years and Monica is very active with the Youth Group.

What she does “Last year we took the youth from our church to Atlanta, Georgia on a mission trip in partnership with a program called Powerplant,” Monica says. “The youth participated in Bible studies, worship rallies, and toured the community. Our youth group also participated in a community car wash. We had a great time and enjoyed the opportunity to minister to residents living in the community.”
