Terry German Is Set To Share His Slimming Secrets

A slimmer who transformed his life by losing nearly 3 stone is now using his success to help others achieve their weight loss dreams. Terry joined his local Slimming World group in Hednesford 7 months ago and dropped from 14st 9.5lbs to 12st.

Terry has now trained as a Consultant for Slimming World, the UK and Ireland’s largest group-based weight loss organisation, at their national training academy in Derbyshire. He’s opening his own group in Cannock at the Avon Business & Leisure Centre on Saturday 26th April 2025.

He says: “When I first joined Slimming World as a member, I never dreamed that I would end up helping other people to lose weight, but now I just can’t wait to get started. After losing nearly 3 stone and completing my training, it’s a privilege to pass on the experience, insight and understanding that helped me.”

Terry had tried many diets over the years. “None were sustainable. I joined Slimming World about 15 years ago, got to my target weight, then left thinking I knew it all—how wrong I was. Within months,

I’d regained the weight and thought ‘Oh well, this is how I was meant to be.’”

After moving to Cannock with his wife, a work trip to London became a turning point. “I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror and was shocked. I knew I needed to go back to the one plan that worked. I joined Helen Coppage’s group and was welcomed with open arms. Her support has been second to none.”

“Slimming World isn’t a diet—it’s a healthy, sustainable way of eating that doesn’t take away the food you love. The support and tools I received helped me change my life, and now I want to help others do the same.”

Terry’s new Slimming World group launched Saturday 26th April at 9am at the Avon Business & Leisure Centre (next to Asda), Cannock. For more information, pop along on the day or call 07926 418034.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity’s Patient Liaison Service Reaches Record Milestone

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, the lifesaving emergency service has achieved a new milestone.

The charity’s patient liaison and aftercare service has now received more than 100 responses to its patient and relative feedback surveys which were introduced in April 2024. The surveys enable people to leave their feedback which is used to further improve the patient care that Midlands Air Ambulance Charity provides.

Through these surveys, patients and their families can also be put in direct contact with the clinicians who treated them or their loved one, with many wishing to say thanks for the lifesaving care they received. The patient liaison and after care service provides invaluable emotional and practical support to those who have been involved in life-changing incidents and their families.

Kerry Hemus, patient liaison lead and critical care paramedic for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity said: “We are dedicated to provided outstanding care to our patients and their loved ones, this is why we offer a dedicated patient liaison and aftercare service that supports our past and present patients through their recovery as well as provide help for bereaved families through their grief.”

Together, Kerry and her colleague Rob Davies are available to offer support, information about patients’ incidents and signpost to additional support services. They can be

contacted via email: patient.liaison midlandsairambulance . com or by calling the charity’s headquarters on 0800 8 40 20 40.

Midlands Air Ambulance Charity serves the largest air ambulance region in the UK. This includes the communities of Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands, and Worcestershire, representing a population in excess of six million. The charity responds to an average of 4,300 missions each year.

Each year it costs £16million just to keep the three charity helicopters and fleet of critical care cars operational. Each air ambulance mission costs £2,950 on average and each critical care car mission costs £288, which is entirely funded by the generosity of the public and local businesses.

Stage is set for stunning stafford shakespeare show Stafford Shakespeare 2025

‘Dark, visually stunning and played at pace, HAMLET is going to be something special.’

So says award-winning Director Richard Cheshire, who is heading up a Stafford Shakespeare production for the first time this summer (June 24 to July 5). ‘I can’t give too much away, but HAMLET is such a strong visual play with ghosts, battlements, murder and madness galore that it offers an incredible scope to produce something that makes audiences go ‘Wow!’.

‘And I think that’s what will happen with Stafford Shakespeare this summer.’

Set designer Patrick Connellan has previously worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company and Richard added: ‘it’s a real coup to have someone of his standing on board. It reiterates how Stafford Shakespeare is so highly thought of in the industry. it’s one of THE most prestigious productions in provincial theatre and people are very keen to be involved.’

More than 2,000 tickets have already been sold and Marketing Manager Keith Harrison said: ‘We’re thrilled with the response to HAMLET. tickets are selling really well and we’ve got lots of community groups and schools coming along too. For some, it will be the first time they’ve seen Shakespeare on stage –and it is by far the best way to enjoy his work. Having seen some design concepts everyone here is very excited and it’s going to be an incredible production.’

In the story, young prince Hamlet returns home to find his father the King dead and his mother about to marry his villainous uncle. The King’s ghost visits and tells him to avenge his killing – but how should he go about it? Will he put his own life at risk? his sanity? Or both?

Set in contemporary (but not quite modern-day) times, the dramatic set is under construction at the Gatehouse Theatre workshop in Beaconside, Stafford. Tickets from the Gatehouse Box Office 01785 619080 or www.gatehousetheatre.co.uk

Cannock and District Ladies Probus Club Local Clubs

Serenaded by Songs From Shows

Local Clubs of Cannock Chase Ladies Probus, Cannock Chase Mens Probus, Cannock and District Mens Probus, Cannock Soroptimist and Cannock W.I., together with personal friends, enjoyed a fabulous afternoon’s entertainment by local singers Lucy Lacey and Robert Follows.

Chairman Anne Bumford warmly welcomed guests to the Annual Lunch Celebration for Cannock and District Ladies Probus Club. A delicious three-course meal was served with choices including Pate, Soup or Smoked Salmon with Prawn Cocktail; Roast Beef, Salmon Fillet with Herb Crumb or Veg Lasagne; followed by Chocolate Brownie, Apple Pie or Fresh Fruit with Ice Cream.

Entertainment followed, with songs old and new. Robert, who “keeps trying to retire,” delivered a rich rendition of Old Man River, to proud applause from his daughter. Lucy, also impressive, shared that someone in the audience once presented her with a trophy at a local music festival—so she performed the very song that won her the award. Another surprise came when Robert presented a birthday bouquet to a great friend in the audience.

The show featured classic Songs from Shows including Memory and I Dreamed a Dream, powerfully sung by Lucy, who once performed it on stage. She opened gently with a number from The Sound of Music and closed the set with As If We Never Said Goodbye, met with generous applause.

A minute’s silence honoured Past Chairman Joyce Cox, recently passed. Toasts were made to Absent Friends and to The King. Thanks were given to Paul James Fowler and staff at The Chase Golf & Country Club for their hospitality and excellent food.

A Career of Service to Her Community

Last week, SI Cannock & District welcomed Helen Fisher – recently retired Staffordshire Deputy Commissioner for Police, Fire, Rescue and Crime – to their meeting.

Born locally, Helen has served her community for many years as a Town, District and County Councillor before becoming Deputy Commissioner in 2021.

Helen recounted the many phases of her life; as a teenager, her talent on the keyboard led to performances at local venues and work in the musical instruments department of a local store. She later taught music from home before co-founding a successful car repair business, which is still trading today.

Her interest in politics began in the late 90s, inspired by Margaret Thatcher. In 2007, she was elected to Burntwood Town Council, where she served for 12 years, as well as on Lichfield District Council, holding cabinet roles including Community – helping survivors of Domestic Abuse. A particularly memorable moment came as Chair of the Planning Committee when she had to maintain order during a debate

about a chicken farm, with many protestors dressed as chickens!

In 2017, Helen was elected to Staffordshire County Council, representing Burntwood South. She became the first female Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport – a challenging but rewarding role. After four years, she chose not to run again.

Plans to travel with her childhood sweetheart (now husband) were put on hold when she was invited by Ben Adams to become his Deputy in 2021 – a role she relished until her retirement in 2024.

Helen’s life story is one of varied experiences, all united by her “can do” attitude and belief in herself –traits that will no doubt guide her in whatever comes next.
