He conflict between ruling party and opposition that lead Ukraine into chaos and the occupation of the city square had begun right after the cancellation of Partnership Agreement with EU by president Viktor Yanukovych, on 29 November 2014. In February 2014, Yanukovych’s side let the country head towards Russia and increased the oppression against the protesters who have occupied the public buildings around Maidan Nezalezhnosti. Governmental intervention and political tension lasted for months turned peaceful protests into urban clashes. Casualties in protests received treatment in occupied buildings and churches. Even though there were only tear gas, water cannon and rubber bullets in the early beginning, long barreled weapons were being used in the last days of the clashes, that caused death of tens and wounding of hundreds. While I was photographing the resistance between the barricades that surrounded the Square of Independency, I tried to remain as close as possible to the resisters. I’ve refuged with them in occupied buildings and waited in the food lines. This behavior made me invisible between them, so I could photograph their resistance in my own way when they were busy with essential issues.
