PHO TO GRAP HIC CHRONICLES STEFANO STRANGES ITALY

Portfolio: www.strangesimage.com www.facebook.com/Rouueste.stranges Freelance Photographer and photoreporter. Born in Turin (Italy) in 1978. I work in the field of photography since 2005, after my degree in Intercultural Communication. My expertise in the anagogic field and my personal and collective exhibition, in 2006, led to my discovery by the artist manager Anna Conti from Kawasaki Italia, for rendering the outcome of the ER6’n model in five artistic shots. Since then, I work as a free-lancer, collaborating with various private agencies in the editorials, corporate, events and travel sectors. Lately my focus has shifted increasingly into the field of reportage and social projects. In January 2012 I attended a “Masterclass” of the renowned agency MAGNUM, participating in a workshop with ace photographer Alex Majoli. In the lasts 2 year I was invited to conduct several meetings about my photographic projects, including a seminar at Pailan School of International Studies, Calcutta, january 2013 and a workshop/seminar for Slice of Art in Mumbai, august 2014. In my photography I aim to put across my own artistic ideas whilst maintaining the original beauty or specific cultural aspect of the place and subject matter. 08

HOMELAND

09

Man transforms every single corner into a home. In this physical and relational space, humans don’t only survive but also live. Home is the habitat in which man repairs, takes shelter, meets others and shares feelings and daily life. The concept of home is one of an intertwined community, one of illuminating one another. “Home” is every inhabited and co inhabited space. For this reason, man is able to build his own nest even without the presence of walls, doors and windows. Homeland is a study into how a train crosses different regions of the world and explores the physical and emotional re-construction of an abode from two platforms, regardless of cultural uprooting and the possible material difficulties of its inhabitants. Each part of the project is born from the presential experience of Stefano Stranges, who lives among them as a guest in each “home” in order to report through his photos, both the living and emotional conditions. Within the walls of grave discomfort and the treacherous contained spaces, they also live the planning, the hope, the joy, the sharing, the sense of family and belonging to a community. With this anthropological and social research, Stefano Stranges shows us how man is able to not only lay roots in the driest part of the desert, but also to make shade. Homeland is self-financed. Till now part of the project has been also supported by Modavi Onlus (Italy), The International Tamil Youth Organisations, Trunk Call NGO (India) and RSA Insurance Company (Italy). If you also want to contribute to the project please contact the Homeland page.

AUTHOR OF THE MONTH DANIEL ANTUNES PORTUGAL

Portfolio: www.facebook.com/daloant https://500px.com/daniel_antunes

I was born and live in Lisbon 54 years ago. My interest in photography began at age 13, always as self taught. There was no access to information that exists today, only some books, trial and error. I remember that the first money I made, I invested in a photographic camera that accompanied me everywhere. My taste for street photography may have come from to live in the city that time. When I married came other priorities and responsibilities, the photography came into hibernation. Five years ago I decided to start over, I bought a good DSLR and great glass, I wanted to photograph but I did not know exactly what. I sought to deepen the knowledge, I attended in several workshops on various subjects and finally, I discovered the street photography, topic with which I identify myself more.
