Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese For folks traveling Rt. 272 from Akron toward Brownstown, an eye-catching reindeer made by the Groff family stands proudly in their front yard. This is no ordinary reindeer, but one that towers 15 feet above the landscape and was made with six sheets of plywood, two gallons of paint and a couple days of work in the Groff woodshop. Motorists slow along the stretch to take in the glorious creation built to spread holiday cheer.

Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese Cocalico School District once again teamed up this year with the United States Marine Corps Reserve for their annual Toys for Tots drive. The goal of this annual event is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. The toys were collected at Cocalico High School. Shown in the photo, from left to right, are Emily Fasnacht, Lyndsay Engle, Kathryn Voler and Julie Shupp, all of whom are Class Officers in Cocalico’s Student Council.
