would like to take the opportunity to thank our loyal and dedicated staff, who we consider as family, for their service above and beyond the norm.

We are grateful for our staff making the safety and wellbeing of our residents their number one priority!

At the Groves, our residents are our family. We are community-focused and an integral part of life on Main Street in Ephrata. We offer our residents independence, while also providing their loved ones with peace of mind. During these trying times, our commitment, focus, and mission remains the same. We have been practicing social distancing and taking every precaution

to ensure the continued health and safety of our residents. We are also committed to offering unique opportunities for our residents to still connect with others. Residents have been sitting on our enclosed porch, visiting with family members through the glass or connecting online, reading cards of support from neighbors, and working on projects and crafts. Thank you to everyone that has supported the Groves, especially our residents and staff, at this difficult time.

shopping and activities to keep them connected and engaged. During the COVID-19 Stay-at-Home Order, Senior Helpers caregivers have been especially essential in keeping our seniors engaged and connected. Our caregivers use FaceTime and Zoom to connect with family and friends. To stay engaged we have activities that include crafts, painting, puzzles, games, listening to music, reading, baking, cooking, taking walks and meaningful conversation.

At Tel Hai Retirement Community, we’re working very hard to ensure that residents and team members live and work in an environment where we’re taking every available precaution to reduce the risk for the spread of illness during this COVID-19 pandemic. The safety, security and well-being of all individuals within our community is our top priority.

Engaging in life and remaining connected to community takes creativity with social distancing restrictions. Our resourceful teams, on both Lititz campuses, support residents’ physical, emotional, and spiritual needs in meaningful ways. Video chatting keeps residents in touch with family and friends. ZOOM video supports in-room Chair Yoga, Meditation and other classes to increase a sense of well-being. Virtual meetings safely welcome new residents, and support Resident Council meetings so individuals can exercise their voices. “Group” activities include virtual bingo and trivia. One-on-one staff time with residents includes crafts, and special room-delivered treats and lunches. And our inhouse TV channel airs spiritual services and resident-requested movies.

Friendship Community is a faithbased organization cultivating capabilities of Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities and Autism in Lancaster and Lebanon Counties since 1972. With three-day programs, a home-based services program, Lifesharing and 27 residential homes serving over 200 individuals in the two counties, Friendship Community continues its vital work every day to Impact the World with Capabilities. The Individuals served in these programs have enjoyed active games like bowling and outdoor scavenger hunts, creative outlets including Easter Egg painting and puzzles and LOTS of culinary creations including pizzas, cookies and cupcakes. New routines and social distancing have been hard, but Team Members have been lining up video-conferencing with Individuals’ family and friends. Technology has also enabled connections with familiar Friendship Community faces, including daily prayer time with the Spiritual Nurture leader.

Our Wellness & Social Services team members are providing alternative enrichment opportunities to keep residents engaged using social distancing activities, technology and on-campus closed circuit television. We’ve developed additional custom programming called the ‘Tel Hai TV Guide’ where residents are enjoying familiar faces and dynamic programming from their homes including physical and land-based wellness classes, life enrichment lectures, spiritual messages and musical selections by their talented neighbors. It’s just another example of the ‘Hill of Life’ in action!

Here at Zerbe Sister’s Nursing Center, we have been keeping spirits high by playing hallway bingo, distributing pictures and letters sent from the community and trying to make everyone smile as much as possible! We are also trying to set

up Skype dates and a visitation window for our residents to talk with family members face to face! In Independent Living, we’ve done a car parade for a couple celebrating their 70th Anniversary. We sent out packets of “Brain Teaser” games. We have many walkers on our campus and we’ve provided them different types of scavenger hunts they can do while walking. We also started a “Drive by Bingo” game!

Luthercare would like to express its sincere gratitude to our residents, families and friends, as well as to our dedicated team members, during this unprecedented time. Our residents have been wonderfully patient, cooperative and understanding as we have had to

implement many changes to their normal routine, including restricting visitors and offering meals by delivery or takeout only. Our team members are assisting residents in finding alternate ways to connect with their loved ones – through phone calls, texts, video chat, social media and other virtual means. We ask everyone to continue to practice social distancing and proper hygiene, and to stay home. We will get through this together!

In this challenging season where we are encouraged to keep safe physical distancing and shelter in place, we have to find more creative ways to meet the social, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents.

We arranged for an outdoor hymn sing where Messiah College student Mackenzie Brubaker performed five mini outdoor concerts that residents could watch and listen to from their patios or balconies. Team members are assisting residents with staying connected to their loved ones through video chats or penning letters. As the weather warms up, our residents appreciate walks outside where they can enjoy the scenic views of the Conestoga Valley.

Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese As we approach Easter Sunday this week, we look forward to celebrating the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. Easter symbolizes hope, renewal and new life, so as we recognize this very special occasion, let us take time to also pray for those who have been affected by the virus outbreak and for everyone around the world. Shown in the photo is the beautiful Bangor church in Churchtown framed by a pink dogwood. Scenes like this are slowly emerging day by day and providing a reason to smile amidst the challenges we are facing.

Denver Park To Benefit From Gordon Russell’s Eagle Scout Project Shopping News Photo by Donald Reese The Denver Park will soon be home to a brand new nine-hole Frisbee golf course thanks to local scout Gordon Russell from Troop 115 in Schoeneck. Gordon is undertaking this endeavor as his Eagle Scout Project and it will be a great asset to folks in the Denver and surrounding areas. Gordon, who plays Frisbee golf himself, understands the sport is very popular and by building this course, he is helping to provide new outdoor activities for local residents. Gordon approached the Denver Park Association, the Rec Association and Denver Borough, and everyone thought this project would be a great asset to the community. Gordon has also built a wooden case that will be located at the first hole which will hold Frisbees for those new to the sport and they can be borrowed and returned to the case after

play is complete so the next player can enjoy the game. This idea of shared Frisbees is unique as far as Gordon knows and it is a great idea.

Gordon hopes to complete his Eagle Scout Project by the end of April and he is looking for businesses or individuals to sponsor each
