MASTER OF CEREMONIES

K

evin Williams is the Director of the Shore Sports Network but to many in Ocean County he is best known for his work on 92.7 WOBM as he’s been on the air there in some capacity for nearly 39 years. The radio station is one of Townsquare Media’s four at the Jersey Shore and at some point he’s been heard on all of them.

Kevin is a nine-time winner of the New Jersey Sportscaster of the Year Award (National Sports Media Association) and his popular daily commentary “The Hometown View” has been honored four times by the New Jersey Broadcasters Association for “Best Public Service” and airs weekday mornings on both 92.7 WOBM FM and WOBM AM 1160/1310.

Kevin is in charge of the award-winning team that broadcasts live high school football and basketball games in addition to a weekly high school football show and he also provides daily morning sports reports. He is founder and director of the WOBM Christmas Classic, a 32-team high school basketball tournament at the RWJBarnabas Health Arena which he has run since 1984. For the past five years much of his time has been devoted to the growth of the Shore Sports Network, especially its popular website shoresportsnetwork.com which covers Shore Conference High School sports,

A member of the New Jersey Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame, Central Regional High School Athletic Hall of Fame, the Jersey Shore Sports Hall of Fame, Shore Football Coaches Foundation Hall of Fame, Toms River Regional Schools Athletic Hall of Fame and the Jersey Shore Wrestling Hall of Fame, he has also received the distinguished alumni awards from both Central Regional High School and Ocean County College. He has been honored by numerous organizations for his charitable efforts and professional accomplishments. His wife Jane is a retired guidance counselor and they have two children who both live in Hoboken. Brandon (wife Jill) is Director of Public Relations for Fanatics and Alexandra is an Event Coordinator for A2E.

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Ron Kornegay R

ON KORNEGAY is a name well-known in athletic circles throughout the Jersey Shore for more than 50 years as a player, coach and administrator. An All-State basketball player from Essex County, he was the first scholarship athlete at what was then Monmouth College and was a four-time Hawks MVP who earned NAIA All American honors in 1968 and 1969. Until just recently he was the leading scorer in Monmouth history and he was part of the first-ever class to be inducted into the school’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 1981.

Following a tryout with the Indiana Pacers he would return to Monmouth after graduation in 1969 and remain there until 1987. During his tenure he served as both an assistant and head men’s basketball coach as well as an Assistant Director of Admissions and Assistant Athletic Director. He then took over as head coach and assistant AD at Kean University (1987-1993) before becoming a high school administrator. Kornegay’s coaching achievements included three times being named NJ College Division Coach of the Year as well as being named National Division 3 Coach of the Year.

Ron worked at Franklin High School for seven years as Athletic Director and Supervisor of Physical Education and then moved to Manasquan High School in the same capacity in 1999 and remained there until 2016. He was on several NJSIAA committees and also served as Vice President and President of the Monmouth County Athletic Directors Association. Most recently he has been commissioner of the Jersey Shore Summer Basketball League.

MONMOUTH COUNTY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR

MIDDLETOWN TOWNSHIP SCHOOL DISTRICT

in his fifth year as Director of Athletics with his main responsibility overseeing the programs at the two high schools (North and South) in the district

Prior to coming to Middletown he was Assistant Principal and Director of Athletics at New Egypt High School and previously served there as a Guidance Counselor, Supervisor of Guidance and Supervisor of Student Services as well as head baseball coach. He also spent close to four years as an Assistant Athletic Director as well as head baseball coach at Upsala College. Rich began his career in education as a social studies teacher at Saint Mary’s Regional High School in South Amboy.

He currently serves as president of the Shore Conference of High Schools, is director of the Shore Conference Boys Golf Tournament and a member of the Shore Conference Officials Committee. Rich is very active with the NJSIAA serving as a Shore Conference representative on several committees and was an active member of the United Playoff Proposal Football Committee which recently adopted significant changes to the playoff structure in New Jersey. He is an active member of the Directors of Athletics Association of New Jersey as well as a state delegate to the national convention

Rich earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Seton Hall University and his Master of Science in Counseling from Upsala College. He lives in Easthampton (Burlington County) with his wife Kris and they have three sons, Matthew (wife Jordan), Timothy and Patrick and a 2-year old granddaughter Emerson.

OCEAN COUNTY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR OF THE YEAR ill Sundermann

PINELANDS REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

ILL SUNDERMANN is an alumnus of Pinelands Regional High School and has been working at his alma mater since 1993 as the School Based Youth Services Recreation Director, a special education teacher, Supervisor of Health and Physical Education and has been the Athletic Director for the past 16 years. During his tenure he has also been the head boys soccer coach, assistant girls soccer coach and assistant girls basketball coach. As athletic director he is most proud that Pinelands was able to start a 7/8 football team and implement a girls volleyball team which won the Shore Conference Tournament this past year. Will has been President of the Ocean County Athletic Directors Association, a member of the Shore Conference Executive Committee, Chairman of the Shore Conference Officials Committee and Director of both the Shore Conference Soccer Tournament and Ocean County Baseball Tournament. He is also part of the exclusive “609” club that includes Chuck Donohue, Jr. (Southern), John Germano (Barnegat) and Karen Hughes (Lacey). While a student at Pinelands, Will as class valedictorian, class president and captain of the Wildcat soccer, basketball and track teams. He then went on to St. Joseph’s University where he played on the soccer team (was a captain as a senior) and majored in marketing. He attended graduate school at The College of New Jersey and Jersey City University. Will and his family live in Little Egg Harbor and he is very proud that his sons Caden and Kieran are part of Wildcat Nation and attend Pinelands Regional. He serves as a soccer coach for the Jersey Shore BOCA Juniors and Toms River Futbol Club (TRFC).

MIDDLETOWN SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL

TACY WHITE is in her 26th year as the athletic trainer at Middletown South High School and is highly

regarded both in the Shore Conference and throughout New Jersey. While her first priority is taking care of Eagles student-athletes, she is a familiar face at many of the biggest sporting events in the area.

During her tenure in the Shore Conference she has served as an athletic trainer for the WOBM Christmas Classic since 1995 as well as 20 All-Shore Football Classic games. She has also been a constant fixture at many Shore Conference basketball, baseball, bowling, wrestling and ice hockey tournaments as well as the NJSIAA Basketball Tournament of Champions. Stacy has worked many other county, Shore and state events.

Before coming to Middletown South, she was a student athletic trainer at Kean University where she graduated with BA/BS degrees in athletic training and physical education. She worked under some great athletic trainers and coaches including Tim Sensor, ATC, Dr. Gary Ball, ATC, Glenn Hedden, Ron Kornegay and Tony Ochrimenko. During her tenure at Middletown South she has been honored to work with athletic directors like Kevin “Buddy� Haines, Nick Pizzulli and Rich Carroll. She is currently a member of the NATA and ATSNJ athletic training associations.

Stacy lives in Lacey Township with her 17-year old son Garrett who has missed a lot of Saturdays with his mother, but learned to drive a golf cart by the age of six.
