Shiv Nadar is a leading Indian philanthropist and tech pioneer. He founded HCL Enterprise in 1976 which has grown into a US$11.8 billion global organization with over 211,000 professionals across 52 countries. He is also the Chairman Emeritus and Strategic Advisor to the Board of HCL Technologies, a group company and India's third largest IT services organization.

Mr. Nadar is a key figure in India’s IT industry, overseeing HCL's evolution from a hardware manufacturer of the country’s first indigenous computers to a global software services organization. Under his guidance, HCL has continued to ride the waves of the changing IT landscape for over 45 years and remain at the forefront of every technological revolution since 1976. HCL is one of the few global IT companies founded in the 1970s that remains in existence to date.

Mr. Nadar is known for fostering result-oriented partnerships and promoting research and engineering, leading HCL to establish significant joint ventures and alliances. Today, HCLTech boasts one of the world's largest IT Engineering and R&D divisions.

The Shiv Nadar Foundation, founded in 1994 by Shiv Nadar, is committed to the creating of a more equitable, merit-based society. The Foundation's core mission is to empower individuals through transformative education, acting as a bridge to narrow the socio-economic divide.

OUR DISTINCTIVE HISTORY

Shiv Nadar University was established in 2011 by Mr. Shiv Nadar, one of Asia’s foremost philanthropists and a pioneer of the technological revolution in India. He is the Founder of HCL Tech, a $12.8 billion global organization with 223,438 professionals operating from 60 countries.

Mr. Nadar’s philanthropic initiative, the Shiv Nadar Foundation set up in 1994, has so far invested close to $1 billion across institutions and initiatives spanning the entire spectrum of education and art, making it one of India’s largest philanthropic foundations.

Within just 12 years, Shiv Nadar University has defined a new trajectory for higher education in India. In 2022, the university was recognized as the youngest Institution of Eminence by the Government of India. With 400+ organizations visiting the campus, over 90% of our students receive placement offers on-campus, beginning their transition into an exciting career.

Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, known as the "People's President," was India’s 11th President from 2002 to 2007. A renowned aerospace engineer, he played a crucial role in India's Pokhran-II nuclear tests, ballistic missile development and space research. Before becoming President, he had crucial roles and responsibilities in the DRDO and ISRO.

Dr. Kalam was also a prolific author and received prestigious awards, including the Padma Bhushan in 1981, Padma Vibhushan in 1990, and the Bharat Ratna in 1997 for his significant contribution to Indian space and research programs.

A legendary former cricketer renowned for his remarkable all-round skills. He made his debut for India in 1978 and went on to lead the team to a historic victory in the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Kapil Dev was the first player to achieve 400 Test wickets and is celebrated as one of the greatest all-rounders in cricket history. He received two of India’s highest civilian honours: the Padma Shri (1982) and the Padma Bhushan (1991). In 2002 he was named the Indian Cricketer of the Century, and he was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s Hall of Fame in 2010.

Lord Charles Powell, is a distinguished British diplomat and statesman. Renowned for his extensive career in public service, he served as the Private Secretary to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher from 1983 to 1990, playing a pivotal role in shaping British foreign policy during her tenure. Powell's influence extended beyond his time in office, as he continued to engage in international diplomacy and policy advisory roles.

Mr. Kailash Satyarthi is a renowned child rights activist and Nobel laureate from India. He has dedicated his life to combating child labor and advocating for the rights of children globally. Satyarthi founded the Bachpan Bachao Andolan (Save the Childhood Movement) and has been a crucial guiding light in saving children from exploitative labor situations. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize jointly with Malala Yousafzai in 2014.

Commander Rakesh Sharma, the first and only Indian citizen to travel in space, is a true inspiration to an aspiring nation. With a three-decade flying career, he logged over 4000 hours and flew 21 combat missions during the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. In 1984, he spent seven days and twenty-one hours aboard the Salyut-7 space station, performing critical experiments. Post-retirement, he joined HAL as a chief test pilot and supports ISRO’s Gaganyaan program.

Padma Vibhushan Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, a Sarod virtuoso and composer par excellence, is an icon of Indian classical music. He has profoundly influenced Indian classical music while honouring its traditions. With over six decades of global acclaim, he has collaborated with a range of artists and performed at prestigious venues worldwide. Amjad Ali Khan’s passion for bringing the sarod to new audiences has seen him give numerous residencies and be appointed as a visiting professor at several universities.

MR. KRISHEN KHANNA

Krishen Khanna belongs to a magnificent generation of painters; some of them are from the Progressive Artists’ Group. Mr. Khanna's career began with acclaim for works like "News of Gandhi's Death" and continued with exhibitions at major biennials and galleries worldwide. Mr Khanna’s paintings often reflect the changing dynamics of Delhi and focus on themes such as the working class and vibrant processions. Mr. Khanna has received several awards for his invaluable contribution to the visual arts field, including Padma Shri, the Lalit Kala Ratna, and Padma Bhushan.
