Dear Students,
After a long summer break, it was wonderful to see you all getting back to campus with renewed energy and a spring in your step. While you were away, a lot of work went into improving infrastructure and facilities on campus, and Colonel Pratik Saxena (Retired) joined us as Deputy Dean of Student Affairs, and Head of Hostel Administration. This year, the University welcomed over one thousand UG Freshers along with a few hundred new PhD scholars and postgraduate students, and the first couple of weeks were packed with orientation sessions, icebreakers, mixers, and fun activities to engage freshers and help them settle into the new environment. Students coming back from the break saw many changes, some of which are ongoing. Your gym has been expanded to more than double what it was, and all the sports infrastructure is undergoing a major revamp Unprecedented heavy rains played spoilsport with the tight schedules and delayed the completion of these projects but once done they will be an asset
With such heavy rain, and high humidity, we have seen damp and mold taking root in some living spaces, which poses a challenge to students and the maintenance staff, but we are working on it When drains were overflowing and water was standing even in front of some academic blocks one evening, a passing student quipped cheerfully to me, “Sir, looks like we have a swimming pool now!” This irrepressible spirit of optimism, seeing the lighter side in any situation is a valuable gift.
The Cultural Committee put up a valiant effort organising this year’s much awaited Club Fair. Over sixty student clubs and societies put up stalls and showcased their activities and interests to the Freshers, and, with sumptuous eats on offer, and energetic music and dance performances, followed by impromptu DJ, it was a memorable evening for all. Most importantly, it poured with rain the day before and the day after the event, but our prayers were heard, and we had no rain on the day itself. There’s so much to be grateful for really! The Freshers’ Games and Family Wars, organised by Surge and the Sports Committee, were keenly contested in a spirit of fun and friendship with lots of fun and excitement The Sports Department also launched a new University Wide Elective in Sports, a first for the University, and it is heartening to see students out on the courts and in the ISC every morning picking up a sport of choice
A word of advice for Freshers Enjoy yourselves, but keep an eye on your attendance and assignments, to avoid pain and tears at the end of the Semester This first semester, when you’re away from home, and the close support and supervision of your parents and teachers, for the very first time is the most crucial. Be intentional, follow a routine, don’t skip classes or meals, get enough sleep and exercise, and be kind and helpful to others. It’s a sure shot recipe for success, not just here, but all through life.

On the 12th and 13th of August, Shiv Nadar University opened its doors to a new batch of freshers, marking the beginning of an exciting journey The campus came alive with the buzz of families arriving—cars pulling up with suitcases, parents guiding their children with both pride and a touch of apprehension, and students stepping onto campus with a mix of curiosity, excitement, and nervous anticipation. The air was filled with warm chatter, heartfelt goodbyes, and the shared emotions of starting life at a residential university.
The onboarding experience was thoughtfully designed to make the transition smooth and welcoming. Dedicated volunteers and staff guided students through the registration process and campus spaces, ensuring that everyone felt at home. The highlight was the Freshers’ Orientation held in the university auditorium, where the Vice Chencellor, all the Deans and Professors came together to personally welcome the incoming batch. The interactive session created a wonderful platform for students and their parents to engage with the academic leadership, ask questions, and understand the university’s vision.
As one new student put it, “I was nervous walking in, but the warmth on campus made me feel I truly belong here ” A parent said, “We are reassured knowing our children are in such caring hands ” Shiv Nadar University extends a heartfelt welcome to the Class of 2025 your journey of discovery begins here!
In line with the directives of the Ministry of Education and the UGC guidelines, Shiv Nadar University observed Anti-Ragging Week from 12 to 18 August with a series of awareness initiatives across campus. The week was dedicated to reinforcing the message of respect, inclusivity, and zero tolerance towards ragging, ensuring that every student feels safe and supported within the university community. th th
As part of the campaign, a creative photobooth was set up, inviting students to actively pledge their commitment to a ragging-free campus. Posters and banners were placed across hostels, academic blocks, and common areas, serving as constant reminders of the importance of empathy, responsibility, and mutual respect. These visuals not only spread awareness but also encouraged dialogue among students about the harmful impact of ragging The organising committees of various orientations also emphasised on the importance of a ragging-free campus in their sessions.
The Registrar and the Dean of Students shared inspiring messages during the week, reaffirming the university’s firm stance against ragging They emphasized that maintaining a safe and inclusive environment is a shared responsibility and called upon students to stand together in upholding these values.
The week-long observance was a meaningful step in strengthening campus culture one rooted in trust, dignity, and collaboration. Shiv Nadar University continues to remain steadfast in its vision of fostering a safe and vibrant learning space for all.
The Student Council held its Fresher’s Orientation on 18 August. The goal was to familiarize students with the basic principles and functioning of the Council. The students were asked what they think makes an ideal student We received a few responses, such as discipline, confidence, not getting lost on the way to classes, and honesty. The Student Council’s answer to this question is that a good student is one who acknowledges that they do not know everything, but that they should try anyway. One doesn’t know where their classes are, but searches for them in the long corridors of G-Block anyway. One does not start out with confidence but pushes oneself to earn it. In the same way, when we, as Student Council, as your fellow students, are faced with challenges that might not have a clear answer, we do not stop; we push forward, for the sake of all students. That is the core of our functioning, and it is a core that we wish to integrate into the larger student body as well.
Each committee of the Student Council presented basic information about its duties, how it can help students, and explained how students themselves can raise issues independently.

Fetch conducted an engaging 10-minute session during the Student Council Orientation to introduce the campus dogs to the incoming Class of 2029 The session was designed both to reassure students and to build awareness about the animals who share the campus environment. Students were informed that all campus dogs are vaccinated, sterilized, and monitored regularly, ensuring safety for both the dogs and the community
The talk covered the following areas:
1) Understanding Campus Dogs – Basic knowledge of the different types of dogs, their temperaments, and how to interpret their body language.
2) Reasons for Stray/Community Dogs – An overview of why stray dogs exist in urban spaces and the importance of responsible management rather than removal.
3) Vaccination Protocols – Information on WHO-recommended vaccination schedules, with emphasis on rabies prevention and public health
4) Puppy Development – Insights into the teething phase and behavioral patterns of young dogs.
The session concluded with practical guidance on creating a safe and harmonious environment where students and dogs can live alongside each other respectfully. Students were encouraged to:
1) Respect Boundaries – Allow dogs their space, avoid teasing, and recognize signs of discomfort.
2) Safe Interaction – Approach calmly, avoid sudden movements, and never disturb dogs while eating or sleeping
3) Compassionate Practices – Report any signs of illness or injury to the campus authorities rather than handling it independently.
In addition to the orientation talk, Fetch also organized hands-on sessions for interested students. These interactive sessions introduced participants to the different campus dogs, giving dog lovers the opportunity to spend meaningful time with them Students across all years from freshers to final-year students actively participated.
Breeze’26 began on a high note with two events that drew large participation and set the tone for the semester - the Orientation for the incoming batch of 2029 and the third edition of College Rivals.
The Orientation, conducted at the G Block Auditorium, gave the freshers a warm welcome to campus life. The event kicked off with an energetic dance performance which was followed by an interactive series of games, which invited students to get involved and interact with each other.
The enthusiasm only grew with the return of College Rivals, on 26th August in its largest issue to date. At the Library Lawn, the event became a beehive of activity from the very beginning. A specially equipped gaming truck attracted huge queues with games like FIFA and Valorant, and the F1 racing simulator provided a special adrenaline rush that kept the participants coming back to try their hand. The competitive spirit was matched with the spirit of fun as students were cheering each other on and celebrating each victory. Goodies and Red Bulls for the winners were the icing on the cake; everyone leaving with a smile.
August on campus wasn’t just another month, it was the beginning of Surge season. What started with orientation at G Block quickly turned into weeks of fun, from solving treasure hunt clues to tugging ropes under the floodlights. On 19th August, Surge kicked off its orientation at G Block, where the Batch of ’29 was officially introduced to Delhi NCR’s biggest sports fest The evening was full of fun moments, stage games, and a chance for freshers to get to know what Surge is all about. Next up was FAMILY WARS: The Treasure Hunt on 24th August. More than 40 families jumped into the challenge, running across campus solving quirky clues and testing their teamwork. A surprise wild card round had participants battling it out on Clash Royale, projected on the big screen in B315, which brought in loads of cheers and laughter At the end of it all, 26 families qualified for the next big showdown.
Before the final stage, Surge brought extra buzz to campus with the SIPnPOP stall on 27th August, giving everyone a chance to recharge and hang out together
The action peaked with Family Wars: The Games on 31st August at the cricket ground. From 4:30 PM to 10 PM, the top 26 families went head to head in group games like lemon and spoon and tic tac toe races. The top 16 then clashed in elimination rounds featuring classics like dog in the bone, dodgeball, and finally, a high energy tug of war to crown the champions. After a thrilling evening, the winning team proudly walked away with the Family of the Year title and trophy.
The Cultural Committee Orientation was a lively and engaging evening designed to welcome the incoming batch into campus life. Filled with interactive games, fun activities, and icebreakers, the event gave freshers the chance to connect with one another while discovering the university’s diverse range of clubs, societies, and cultural opportunities. More than just an introduction, it offered a glimpse into the vibrant campus culture that defines student life, setting the tone for their journey ahead.

This was followed by the offline orientation on 11 August 2025, led by Dr. Anshu, which offered a more hands-on approach with in-depth workshops on empathy, confidentiality, and mental health awareness. Live demonstrations, group activities, and role-play exercises enabled PSGs to practice handling real-life situations, refine their communication skills, and strengthen bonds within the group. Together, these sessions equipped PSGs with both the knowledge and practical experience to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive campus environment.
