SPORTS STATION

FROM THE DEAN OF STUDENTS

Winter is a faded memory; Spring has booked a camp heard a Brain Fever Bird calling late last night, and It’s summertime! You’d hardly guess it looking at so hoodies, or the angry emails I get from others demand the showers Never form an opinion based on stray i

It’s called jumping to conclusions

On All Fools’ Day, for at least a day, we are able to say “April Fool”, say if you find a stone in your samosa, or are wrongly accused of dressing wrongly You can’t rightly be rightly accused of dressing rightly, or wrongly, right? Its just not right, and its just so wrong, right there Some people got their calendar a bit mixed up recently and were rather put out when campus security refused to play along with dark substances in water bottles being passed off as cough syrup at the gate Or a square packet of something being delivered as a square meal, fair and square Watch out for pranks!

All that aside, March was a good month on campus, never mind the midsems Our University sports teams played and won lots of matches, and the clubs and societies vied for the Club Championships, alongside the Club Core elections

Our University offers you many opportunities to get involved in various activities and events, and learn the fundamentals of leadership It’s a good idea to wet your toes and wade in, because wherever you head from here, you will need to work with people, diverse, different, annoying and nice, and you will need to have built your ability to persevere in the face of difficulties and disappointments Leadership, and the work that it entails, holds up a mirror to your true character, but also gives you the chance to look at what it shows you and take steps to improving in areas that may be less than edifying First and foremost, leadership is about building Trust through Consistency with common values The more often you do it, the less difficult it becomes, believe me

Here’s another edition of Campus Connect, put together by our wonderful volunteers Suhani and Subhasri, to fill you in with all excitement on campus (well, not all, but you get the drift)

“First and foremost, leadership is about building Trust through Consistency with common values.”

TRIVIUM THE DOUBLE

Last month, Trivium brought Dostoevsky to the stage with its first-ever adaptation of The Double. Set in a university much like ours, the play followed Yukta, a disillusioned academic grappling with her own mediocrity until a new student with the same name arrived, sending her spiraling into a crisis of identity and madness. Who is the real Yukta? Is Yukta even real? The gripping performance captivated audiences in the G Block Auditorium, blending psychological tension with a touch of dark humor in what was aptly dubbed Dostoevsky for Dummies.

FACTION AN ADVISORY AFFAIR

Last month, quizzing enthusiasts had another chance to put their knowledge to the test with a specially curated General Quiz, hosted by our esteemed faculty advisor, Dr. Anand P. Krishnan. SnuphoriaARMAGEDDON ‘25

Snuphoria’s band, Tandav, recently participated in and secured first place as winners in Armageddon, the Battle of Bands at Symbiosis Law School, representing Shiv Nadar University. This was their first-ever performance together as a band, making the experience even more special. The competition had 12 bands, 5 performing on Day 1 and the rest, including Tandav, on Day 2. They performed three songs, each unique in its own way. The first song was an improvised jam of "Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zeppelin. The second was a fusion of "Bheegi Bheegi Si" by James and "Prithibi Ta Naki" by Mohiner Ghoraguli, blending two iconic tracks seamlessly. We ended with a mesmerizing classical-rock fusion of "Sajan More Ghar Aayo", a Raag Jog-based Bandish by Bandish Blues.

Many other bands performed original compositions alongside covers, but their fusion of classical elements with rock music set them apart. The judges especially congratulated them for making such an impact in their first independent competition outside SNU. Winning their very first Inter-College Battle of Bands was an unforgettable experience. Along with the title, they also received certificates and are about to receive a cash prize of Rs. 17,500.
