Add or remove inbox categories & tabs in Gmail.

Message in your inbox is all sorted in the category on the basis of category like social message are in the social category, similarly further categories like forum, promotional etc. At the time you open your inbox you see the Primary tab.

For computer:

Step 1: choose your inbox style.

1. Open Gmail account.

2. click on setting.

3. click the Inbox tab.

4. In the “Inbox type” section, select Important first, default, Unread first, starred first, or priority Inbox.

5. choose others setting, like whether to point out important markers or how to filter email.

Step 2. If you don’t see tabs in your inbox then add or remove some categories.

Follow these steps to turn on inbox categories.

1. Open Gmail Account.

2. click on setting and then configure inbox.

3. check the boxes categories you want to use. If your tab was hidden then those messages will show you in primary tab.

4. you have optional choice to show starred a message in primary tab.

5. click save.

Move Messages 1.Open Gmail Account.

2. Drag and drop your message from one category to another.

Always Use Category labels to Search and Filter messages.

By default, all messages are automatically labeled for first five categories even if you don’t categorize them.

See all messages in Category If you want to see all your messages in categories, including archive message, generally archive message will not show up in category tab.

1.Open Gmail Account.

2.Under Compose, click More. You may need to scroll down to see it.

3.To the left of Categories, click the Down arrow.

4.Select a category.

Show category labels in your message list If you turned off tabs in your inbox, you can still have the category labels show.

1.Open Gmail Account.

2.Under Compose, click More. You might need to scroll down to see it.

3.To the left of Categories, click the Down arrow.

4.To the right of a category name, click the arrow.

5.In the section “In the message list,” click Show.

Note: For search messages in certain category add a category name before your search item.

Change notifications for each category You can choose different notifications for each category. Learn more about notifications.

Can’t turn on inbox categories If you have more than 300,000 messages in your inbox and you are not able to turn into categories then you have to archive and delete messages.

Check the number of messages in your inbox You usually stuck in the group when replies into the conversation, at the time you open your inbox you will see a number of conversation, not messages.

Follow the given steps to see how many messages are in your inbox: 1.Open Gmail Account. It’s impossible to find all messages in your Gmail app.

2.In the top right, click Settings.

3.Scroll down to the “Conversation view” section.

4.Select Conversation view off.

5.At the bottom of the page, click Save Changes.

6. Turn back and see the number of messages in your inbox. If you have multiple sections or categories, make sure to add together the number from each section.

7.When you’re done, go back to settings and turn on “Conversation view.”
