THE HORIZON LOOKOUT
YEAR 3 SEMESTER 1
ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGIES
SHIU HEI LEE

The main concept of The Horizon is to capture and frame the view of the valley views of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. The design and the shape of the lookout is designed to capture a particular view, which allows visitors to walk from the above to the bottom of the lookout that shows different framed views formed by the facade of the lookout. Eventually, visitors can explore the geometry, the habitats and the nature of the Blue Mountains.
The Horizon sits at the cliff of the Therabulat Lookout at Katoomba, which is approximately 900 metres above sea level, looking right at the valleys and the natural habitats of the Blue Mountain. Wind, Rain, Soil condition and possible hazard have been taken into consideration when designing the Horizon
