I am currently working in the Treasury Department at the African Development Bank Group. I work as a financial asset manager primarily responsible for managing the treasury’s excess cash, investing in money market instruments and in bond markets.

I have over 6 years’ experience working in Treasury and Cash Management. I started my career in Treasury & Cash Management at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Corporate Treasury department. While there I gained valuable experience working with senior treasury professionals.

I studied for and passed the ACT's Certificate in International Cash Management Qualification (CICMQ) in January 2019. It was challenging to study while working but worth it!

The CICMQ is an excellent qualification which covers all aspects of international cash management. It has helped me consolidate my knowledge of the industry and enabled me to understand what other companies are doing. The course material is comprehensive, useful and relevant to my job role. The CICMQ has really helped me to understand how best to manage my department’s cash pooling structure whilst also advising our corporate clients on their cash management needs. I have learnt about how important it is to know and understand the political, legal and economic environments that you are operating in, especially when accessing new markets or even trying to get paid! Knowing where your customers are based, would they be likely to pay or go bankrupt and if you would be able to retrieve money from them if they defaulted has really made me think about where I am doing business.
