If one wanted to investigate and track down the elements that make Greece and the Greeks the leading force in the world of merchant shipping, there was no better opportunity than the party held by Aegean, on the occasion of the Posidonia 2014 international maritime exhibition on 5 June, at the seaside Balux centre. ures, press and media people, performers, athletes, and over 5,000 executives from various companies belonging to Greece’s weightiest industry – shipping. The presence of such major players at the party, is indicative of the successful and dynamic progress Aegean has made in all its areas of activity, in Greece and at dozens of foreign ports. The welcoming and beautifully appointed spaces at Balux, which were decorated with Aegean’s colours for the event, hosted the guests of the Melissanidis family, who partied to the sounds of live music from a 20-member orchestra, Stavros Romanos’s LA Big Band, while the appearances of Pantelis Pantelidis and Antonis Remos, brought Greek flavour to the stage. Amongst those invited were Minister of Marine Miltiadis Varvitsiotis, deputy parliamentary spokesmen Tassos Nerantzis and Yiannis Tragakis, former Minister of Culture Kostas Tzavaras, Aris Spiliotopoulos, Vice-Admiral Athanasios Athanasopoulos (commandant of the Hellenic Coast Guard), General Secretary of Ports and Port Policy Athanasios Christopoulos, Ambassador Ana Irene Delgado of Panama, mayor of Cephalonia Alexandros Parissis, the newly elected mayors of Glyfada, Giorgos Papanikolaou, and Marathon, Ilias Psinakis, and many figures from the press and media, the world of football and sport, and also actors, models, performers and others in the public spotlight...
