HAGANE is Shimano’s reel design concept, which aims at “Smooth, Strong and Durable.” We’ve taken our unique metalworking technology, including precision cold forging, to extreme levels in pursuit of the reels that only we can produce.

Advancements in manufacturing technology and gear tooth design improve the surface contact and meshing between the drive gear and pinion gear. Advancements in the internal structure and design extend the spool's oscillation to enable the spool to move up and down at an extremely low speed. This technology creates a precise winding pattern with less overlap that significantly reduces friction as the line leaves the spool during a cast. The result is smooth and exceptional casting performance, especially of light lures.
With Infinity Drive, the pinion gear inner does not make contact with the main shaft, as high-sliding bushing supports the main shaft and sliding resistance is reduced. In addition to this, a special skidding coating on the main shaft helps to further reduce sliding resistance. Infinity Drive cuts handle rotation torque by about 30 per cent in comparison to the conventional system, and makes the reel more powerful. This enables anglers to wind more aggressively, even under heavy load.
Constructed to enhance overall durability, this revolutionary drag washer incorporates cutting-edge materials woven in a unique pattern compared to conventional drag washers. Without sacrificing a smooth drag feel, this new material is greater than 10x more durable based on tests with previous models for improved drag performance.
Drag durability has been improved even further. Each washer is made of metal and carbon. Larger diameter drag washers have been installed on both the top and bottom sides of the spool. As a result, smooth and stable drag performance has been enhanced by improving heat resistance and durability.
With amazing strength and durability, the HAGANE Gear is at the very heart of most Shimano reels. Shimano, through the application of state-of-the-art technologies, gives anglers the long-lasting smoothness and enjoyment that is felt when anglers first use a reel, over and over again. No cutting work is applied to the teeth of the drive gear during fabrication; instead, the entire surface is calculated in minute detail by a special 3D design and then formed by Shimano's cold-forging technology.
The use of lightweight and rigid metals such as aluminum and magnesium firmly suppresses deflection, distortion, and torsion of the reel. This protects delicate gear meshing and enables smooth reeling.
The new design of the MAGNUMLITE ROTOR produces unprecedented light and sensitive rotation. The rotor profile — which was previously symmetrical — is now asymmetrical, and the bail arm mechanism — previously situated on the same side as the line roller — has been moved to the opposite side. Furthermore, the line roller has been lightened, the bail has been made of titanium, and the rotor wall thickness has been optimally arranged to successfully reduce rotational inertia.
HEATSINKDRAG is a revolutionary structure to prevent the drag force reduction by drag heat. The ''HEATSINK panel'' located at the bottom of the spool dissipate heat generated by drag. In addition, the "heat-insulating sheet" has succeeded in reducing the temperature rise in the winding area.
X SHIP provides improved gear performance. Large diameter drive gear, optimally positioned pinion gear and drive gear, and two points bearings supported pinion gear produce light reeling under load.
The basic design of the entire body and drive-related parts were reviewed one by one to reduce minute rattles, gaps, and shaking between parts down to the smallest detail. It provides smooth and quiet reel rotation.
The MICROMODULE Gear II has evolved with Shimano's unique manufacturing technology and a state-of-the-art gear-tooth surface design. The drive and pinion gear surfaces have been analyzed and updated from the ground up in Shimano's pursuit of perfection to further improve the smooth gear feeling and reduce sound.
The flexible polymer fin is installed near the line roller. This maintains line tension to reduce sagging and prevents the line from falling off the bottom of the spool or wrapping around the spool in an uneven manner.
For medium and small general-purpose spinning reels, which require lighter spinning, we focused on a non-contact structure that does not compromise the lightness of the spinning. In addition to conventional water-repellent treatment, a labyrinth structure that suppresses water penetration is combined to achieve high water-resistant performance despite the non-contact nature of the structure. It is used in the stopper bearing section and line roller section.
The MagnumLite (MGL) Spool is designed with reducing the moment of inertia with the hole on side wall, and improves casting performance.
CoreSolid Body integrates the B-Side Plate, levelwind guard and frame into a solid one-piece construction. This delivers an ridid feeling.
By applying slight pressure to the bearing holding the spool, SilentTune reduces the vibration of the bearing during highspeed rotation. This improves the quietness while casting and the rise of the spool rotation becomes even smoother.
The MicroModule Gear technology creates a smooth retrieve by utilizing smaller teeth to increase the number of contact points between the drive gear and pinion gear.
A newly-designed lever that can easily and accurately control the fall speed. The Falllever enables anglers to fish much more strategically.
G FREE BODY technology has been developed to shift the reel's center of gravity closer to the rod. By moving the center of gravity closer to the angler’s hand, the G FREE BODY helps to reduce fatigue and enhance casting comfort.
The body is water-resistant equivalent to IPX8 by water-resistant seals on the body, side covers, and other parts of the body.
The concept of CoreProtect is simple... to provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. There are three key areas of the reel that require protection: the roller clutch, the body and the line roller.

SVS INFINITY
SVS Infinity, provides easy-to-manage, consistent spool control and brake force. With brake weights that use inner friction against the raceway during the cast, SVS Infinity controls spool speed for precision casting. The external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments when anglers need to adjust to the conditions or when they switch baits.
Optimally balanced design of rigidity and lightness. By minimizing deflection of the reel caused by large impacts during casting, the timing of release is stabilized. As a result, not only flying distance but also accuracy is improved.
Each washer is made of only metal and carbon to support the spool from both the top and bottom. Smooth and stable drag performance has been refined by improving heat resistance and durability.
CI4 is a resin material reinforced with carbon fiber that is lighter and has a higher strength than conventional resin material. CI4+ is an advanced version of the original CI4 material.The rigidity and durability have been greatly improved from original CI4 material while maintaining the lightness of the material, making it possible to reduce the size and weight of the reel.
S3D SPOOL leads to significantly reduced spool vibration. This creates an smooth feeling when casting.
SVS use centrifugal force, rather than magnets, to aid in controlling the cast. When turned on, the individual brake weights are forced outward at the beginning of the cast.
Shimano AR-C Spool features a special spool ring shape. This design effectively minimises the possibility of issues when line exits the spool, resulting in trouble-free line management and exceptional casting performance.
EXCITING DRAG SOUND technology enables drag sound on a baitcasting reel.
The e-Exciting Drag Sound is an electronic drag sound from the reel when a fish makes a run. This creates a modern solution to the mechanical clicker while adding excitement to an angler’s experience.

By strengthening the spool support of the main shaft, the play and fluctuation of the spool during drag operation are reduced. The RIGID SUPPORT DRAG allows smooth and consistent drag delivery.
S A-RB bearings are put through the same process as Shimano’s A-RB bearings but feature shields on both sides of the bearings. These shields reduce the possibility of salt or sand inhibiting the rotation of the bearing.
A-RB stainless-steel ball bearings are specially treated to drastically increase the corrosion resistance of the bearing.
One Piece Bail allows the line to travel unimpeded to the line roller. Its seamless design reduces friction and the chance of tangles or cuts to the bail arm.
SUPER FREE SPOOL reduces friction on the spool shaft during the cast and enhances casting performance.
Variable Brake System uses weights to slow down the spool’s rotation. This provides the angler with more consistent spool speed, as well as easier line management during the cast.
Thermo Adjust Drag is a control function designed to suppress abnormal heat generation of the drag to maintain stable drag performance. If the drag slips while the motor of the electric reel is on, the gear will idle and cause an abnormal heat generation in the drag portion of the reel. As a way to suppress excess heat, the speed of the motor is automatically reduced by the Thermo Adjust Drag when the drag begins to slip.
This drag material provides a wider range of drag settings, for the smoothest Shimano drag performance ever.
Fine tuning of the Baitrunner Spool functionality. Both the small drag setting and the big free spool knob now work independently of each other. Improved, more user-friendly handling is the result.
PARELLEL BODY is designed to improve dynamic line flow from the reel. On many reels the spool is aligned slightly upwards towards the rod blank, but reels with PARELLEL BODY have the spool located parallel to the blank. The result: less line slapping on the blank as it travels towards the first guide during the cast, ultimately increasing performance.
The LONG STROKE SPOOL has a longer stroke compared to conventional spool designs. It contributes to improved casting feel and distance.
RAPID FIRE DRAG is a very effective function in situations where anglers want to adjust drag force instantly. When the drag knob is rotated, the change in drag force is quicker to increase along the drag curve compared to traditional drags. This is especially effective for anglers utilizing light line: A high drag setting can be used for a hookset and then quickly decreased when fighting the fish.

Shimano High Pressure Carbon is a process which creates stronger, more responsive blanks. Pressure is applied to the blank surface during curing (heating), which evenly distributes the resin through the carbon fibre matrix. T45 involves a three step process by which a graphite tape linear rolled at 45 degrees. The graphite tape reduces the weight greatly, as it is not a complete sheet of graphite. It is then reinforced by two opposing angled, premium quality graphite sheets to create a light, extremely sensitive yet strong blank.

You can fish the Soare A-Jig vertically from a boat in the same way you would fish a traditional metal jig or horizontally from either a boat or shore using a quick twitch and pause technique. Because the weight is placed in the front, this metal jig falls very quickly on a slack line, but once your line is tensioned again, it assumes a horizontal position and swims with a high frequency and a flashy action.
