Infinity Drive cuts handle rotation torque by about 30 per cent in comparison to the conventional system, and makes the reel more powerful. Shimano’s new Digital Control braking system utilises a microcomputer to monitor spool speed 1,000 times every second and apply the perfect amount of brake to prevent backlash and maximise distance.
Incorporating large diameter drag washers at the base of the spool provides greater drag stability. The result is smooth and consistent drag performance throughout the fight. The Coil Wave Spring features steady elasticity at any compression level, and little deformation under repeated compression. The concept of CoreProtect is simple... to provide water resistance without creating a heavy rotation feeling. There are three key areas of the reel that require protection: the roller clutch, the body and the line roller.
G Free Body technology has been developed to shift the reel’s centre of gravity closer to the rod. This has been achieved by moving the worm shaft oscillation mechanism 19mm up from the bottom of the reel to the top. By moving the centre of gravity closer to the angler’s hand position, the G Free Body helps to reduce fatigue and enhances casting comfort.
With this feature the spool is aligned parallel to the rod, minimising the rubbing between the rod and the line, while increasing casting distance.

Shimano’s “Silent Tune” places O-rings on the inner and outer diameters of the bearings and the outer diameter of the bearings. By increasing the degree of adhesion with the shaft and frame, the rattle of the bearings is reduced. Featuring four carriers, the tight weave construction is created by applying high tension at opposing directions during the braiding process. The fibre is weaved evenly at all angles, resulting in a smoother finish and a reduced diameter. This low stretch, long casting braid is an excellent choice for finesse fishing, where smoothness, sensitivity and castability is fundamental. Kairiki 4 is available from PE 0.6 (6lb) to PE 5 (50lb) in 150m and 300m spools, in Hi-Vis Orange.
