REDBULL DANCE YOUR STYLE QUALIFIERS COMPETITION(RECAP)

Dance has really evolved in Kenya, and I must say that the Gen-zs are taking over this year. At the just concluded Redbull Dance Your Style event that took place over the weekend at the Adlife Plaza –Red Room venue located in Hurlingham.Dancers from all over Nairobi converged at this trendy place to battle it out for the coveted top prize at the Nairobi Qualifiers edition. It was quite a stiff,fun,tough yet very enthralling as famous dancers like Almasi the king, Zack the Great, Lennox Blessed,Shishi and Brian emerged as the final 5 dancers who will represent Kenya at the finals Competition to be held at a venue yet to be confirmed happening later this month on April 27th.
Other dancers went head-to-head tirelessly to win the final spot but got eliminated in each stage that is knockout, quarter finals, semifinals, and final stage. There were more than 150 dancers who registered to participate as they got the full Redbull experience, learning, growing, and networking with each other plus drinking lots of Redbull to give them that extra boost onstage.
It was quite a remarkable sight as some female dancers went against the forces of gravity like Irene, while others had gimmicks and magical surprises while others came masked up as their role models-Michael Jackson and Squid Games inspired outfits with bandit masks to hide their identity. Even past winners like Oduor competed and supported these youths in all genres of music like hiphop,afrobeats,amapiano,RNB,Pop,Lingala , Rhumba, Grime/Trap Music amongst many more. It was a fun filled event full of pomp, color and great memories hosted by the ever so beautiful –Azeezah Hashim aka ‘The Media Messiah'. We look forward to the next Redbull Dance Event.
Bonus Highlights:
Guests in the Audience included Larry and Ortega Ariel(Twende Basketball Team Members),Belinda Wanyana,Nasieku(social media influencer) who did a little dance onstage and Amy Warighe(Brand Ambassador for Redbull Kenya) who was assisting in registering all dancers and divided them into two categories ,”Team Red” and “Team Blue” where the crowd decided who proceeds forward in the competition in each category and is eliminated based on fair judgement and doesn't break any rules set at the start of the whole competition.
