We have a global food system that undervalues the role of farmers, fails to feed the planet, and supercharges the climate crisis. We need change like never before.

For a quarter of a century, Sustainable Harvest International has been at the forefront of that change. Global leaders are finally waking up to the value of nature-based solutions. With your support, we’re here to lead the way.

Our team is driven by a shared vision of transforming one million farms by 2030.

ZOILAREYES

To reach this goal, we’re fostering a culture of creative thinking, building strategic relationships, and testing program innovations. We’re already seeing this work pay off.

Our goals are ambitious because, quite simply, the need for change is monumental. We can because we must.”

As the SHI-Honduras Country Director, Zoila is committed to exponentially growing SHI’s impact.

EVOLVING

26 -year-old Elmer Alexander Buezo wants his two young girls to have a better future. His own family farmed conventionally, growing basic grains and coffee, and they always struggled to make ends meet. And like many Honduran youth, Elmer’s education was cut far too short by a need to put food on the table.

Recently, Elmer completed SHI’s accredited training program, earning his certificate as a Community Agroecology Promoter. It’s an exciting and new opportunity – one that combines restoring ecosystems with improving livelihoods, all while increasing his economic opportunities.

Today, Elmer has established a demonstration plot and field school where others come to receive training in regenerative practices.

FOR THE FUTURE

As we grow, SHI’s core program remains our foundation.

This past year, in addition to direct technical assistance, we led 170 workshops reaching 699 farmers in 25 communities across Central America.

42% of them will train other farmers in regenerative practices.

The impact of this work continues to ripple outwards, year after year.

Partner families are transforming local food systems, providing regional access to healthy, organic produce.

We rely on donors to support our program and the innovations that will help us grow.
