We’ve
For generations, Black women have been the backbone of movements, families, and communities. We have carried the weight of the world on our shoulders—organizing protests, leading revolutions, healing broken systems, and holding everything together even when it felt like it was all falling apart Yet, in this moment of heightened political unrest, systemic inequality, and personal sacrifice, we must embrace a truth that we are often discouraged from claiming: Black women are entitled to rest. We’ve done the heavy lifting long enough
The idea of the “strong Black woman” has been lauded for centuries, but at what cost? While resilience is a badge of honor, it can also become a burden. This societal expectation— rooted in the survival mechanisms of enslavement and the fight for civil rights—leaves little room for vulnerability, softness, or simply saying, “I need a break.”
The truth is, Black women have been asked to be everything for everyone: the nurturer, the activist, the provider, the protector. While these roles are steeped in love and power, they have also forced us to deny ourselves rest and renewal, making it feel like taking care of ourselves is a luxury instead of a necessity.
SHEVVY MALIBU EDITOR IN CHIEF
Set boundaries with toxic people.
In today’s volatile political landscape, the demands on Black women have only increased. We are not only fighting the battles of systemic racism, sexism, and economic inequality but also navigating the microaggressions and traumas that exist in our everyday lives. We are the most educated demographic in the U.S., yet we still earn less than our counterparts We are stepping into leadership positions, yet we face disproportionate criticism and scrutiny We lead social justice movements but are often overlooked or undervalued within them.
The weight is heavy—and it’s okay to say so. In fact, it’s revolutionary to admit that we are tired.
Rest for Black women isn’t just self-care it’s resistance. Tricia Hersey, founder of The Nap Ministry, frames rest as a form of reparations, a way for Black people to reclaim their humanity in a system that has historically dehumanized us. She writes, “Rest is a form of resistance because it pushes back and disrupts capitalism and white supremacy.” By choosing to rest, we reject the lie that our worth is tied to how much we produce or endure. Rest allows us to heal from the generational traumas we’ve inherited and prepare for the future we want to create.
Renewal Is a Birthright
Renewal doesn’t just mean a vacation or a day off (though those are valid forms of rest). It’s about rediscovering joy, stillness, and connection with yourself. It’s about doing things that nourish your spirit, whether that’s sitting in silence, dancing to your favorite playlist, spending time in nature, or journaling
It also means setting boundaries unapologetically. Black women are often expected to show up for everyone else, but how often are we showing up for ourselves? Saying “no” to what drains you and “yes” to what fills you is a powerful step toward reclaiming your time and energy.
As Black women, we don’t need to wait for permission to rest. We’ve earned it. We’ve always earned it. And even if the world doesn’t acknowledge our right to rest, we owe it to ourselves to prioritize it.
So, to every Black woman reading this:
Take the nap.
Log off social media when the news becomes too much.
Schedule the therapy session.
Leave the meeting that could’ve been an email.
Say no to the things that don’t serve you.
Say yes to yourself.
This is your time to rest and renew not because you’ve worked hard enough or suffered long enough, but because you simply deserve it. Period.
Imagine what could happen if more Black women rested. Imagine a world where we are healed, whole, and energized Where we can show up for the causes we care about not from a place of depletion, but from a place of abundance. Rested Black women have the power to change the world because we no longer have to sacrifice ourselves to do so
So, let this be a call to action—not to fight harder, but to rest deeply. Because when Black women rest, we don’t just survive—we thrive. And when we thrive, the whole world benefits. What does rest look like for you? How can you start to embrace rest as an act of resistance in your own life? Let’s continue the conversation—because you deserve this, sis.

When it comes to Valentine’s Day, the focus is usually on what to get women heart-shaped chocolates, roses, and jewelry filling every store shelf. But let’s be real: men deserve to feel special too. The problem? Most Valentine’s gifts for men are either predictable, lastminute, or completely impersonal. So, I took matters into my own hands and conducted an online poll to find out exactly what men actually want. The results? Most of them don’t need something flashy or expensive what they crave is thoughtfulness. They want gifts that show you know them, their style, their passions, and what makes them feel good. With that in mind, here are the top five gifts men truly want for Valentine’s Day plus recommendations that will have him feeling like a king.
1. Cologne – A Scent That Leaves an Impression
There’s nothing sexier than a man who smells irresistible. And let’s be honest cologne isn’t just for him, it’s for you too. The right scent can transform his confidence, make every hug linger a little longer, and leave a trail of attraction everywhere he goes. This Valentine’s Day, go beyond the basic department store cologne and get him Menotte Night, a bold, intoxicating fragrance designed for a man who knows his worth. With its smooth blend of warm spices, sensual woods, and a hint of mystery, this scent will make sure he turns heads especially yours.
If your man loves sneakers, gifting him a fresh new pair isn’t just thoughtful it’s personal. A new pair of kicks can upgrade his style, boost his confidence, and show that you actually pay attention to what he likes. Whether he’s into classic Jordans, sleek Nikes, or exclusive collabs, the key is knowing his taste. Bonus points if you grab a limitededition release or a pair he’s had his eye on. And if you really want to flex? Get a matching pair for yourself because nothing says "power couple" like stepping out in style together.
There’s something undeniably sexy about a man in a good watch. It’s more than just an accessory it’s a statement. A sleek, well-crafted timepiece shows confidence, ambition, and that effortlessly puttogether energy that makes heads turn.
This Valentine’s Day, gift him a watch that’s not just stylish, but meaningful. Tally & Twine, a Blackowned watch brand, creates bold, sophisticated timepieces that stand out. Their designs are modern yet timeless, making them the perfect addition to any man’s collection. Plus, supporting a Black-owned business makes this gift even more special.
The best gifts aren’t always wrapped in a box sometimes, they’re unforgettable moments. If your man values adventure, quality time, or new experiences, skip the material gifts and plan something that will blow his mind.
Think a luxury staycation, a surprise road trip, tickets to his favorite concert, or even a private chef experience at home. Whatever you choose, make sure it’s something tailored to his interests. A gift that gives him an experience to remember? That’s next-level love.
Let’s be real there’s nothing sexier than a home-cooked meal, especially when it’s made with love. This Valentine’s Day, skip the crowded restaurants and create an intimate, unforgettable dining experience right at home.
Picture this: candlelight, soft music playing in the background, his favorite meal on the table, and a bottle of wine that keeps the conversation (and the romance) flowing. Dress up, set the mood, and make dinner a slow, sensual experience not just something you eat, but something you both feel. And after dinner? Well… let’s just say, dessert doesn’t have to be on a plate.
At the end of the day, men don’t need cliché gifts or generic gestures. What they really want is effort, attention, and something that feels personal. Whether it’s a signature scent, a fresh pair of sneakers, a sleek watch, an experience to remember, or an intimate night at home, the key is showing that you truly see him.
So this Valentine’s Day, skip the predictable and give him something that speaks to his soul. Because when you take the time to gift with intention, he won’t just appreciate it he’ll remember it.

Winter has a way of making us slow down. The days are shorter, the nights are longer, and everything around us feels like it’s in hibernation mode. For some of us, this season comes with a certain stillness an invitation to reflect, to heal, and to prepare. But for others, the quiet can feel heavy, almost suffocating, as if the weight of our unspoken thoughts and unmet goals is amplified in the cold air.
That’s where I am right now. Not on the other side of a glow-up, but standing right in the middle of my winter, taking stock of who I’ve been, where I am, and where I want to go. Sis, let me be real with you. I’m in the middle of my glowup right now. Like, literally as I’m writing this, I’m figuring it out—step by step, piece by piece. And if you’re anything like me, you’ve been through some stuff lately. Life got some hands, and it’s been swinging. But I can fight too! And I’m still standing, and that means there’s room to rebuild, rebrand, and to reemerge!
This glow-up isn’t just about leveling up my look or flexing for the gram. It’s about healing, evolving, and stepping into the woman I know I’m destined to be. This isn’t about rushing toward some picture-perfect version of success. It’s about pausing long enough to truly see myself—to take inventory of the woman I’ve been, to nurture the parts of me that have been neglected, and to intentionally lay the groundwork for the woman I’m becoming. So, let’s talk about how we’re doing this—together.
It flourished when cars appeared
Listen, the hardest part of this journey is getting out of your own head. I’ve spent so much time carrying guilt, regret, and self-doubt, like a bad bag I refuse to put down; living out an Erykah Badu song. But here’s the thing: those feelings don’t serve me. They don’t serve you either.
Right now, I’m actively working on flipping the script. Every morning, I remind myself that I deserve joy, peace, and success even if I’m not perfect, even if I’m still figuring it out. Affirmations have become my lifeline. Along with meditation and intentionally giving myself some actual “ME TIME”!
It’s easy to think of a glow-up as a purely external transformation—a wardrobe overhaul, a new hairstyle, maybe a revamped skincare routine. And while all of those things have their place, the real glow-up begins inside. For me, that means starting with a mindset shift. It means sitting with the hard questions: What have I been carrying that’s no longer serving me? Where have I been holding back out of fear or self-doubt? How do I show up for myself in the same way I’ve shown up for others?
Taking this deep dive isn’t always pretty. Some days-MOST days, it’s overwhelming. But just like winter prepares the earth for spring, this season of reflection is preparing me for what’s next. It’s a reminder that healing and growth require both time and intention.
Your Turn: Ask yourself, what’s the story you’ve been telling yourself? Is it rooted in fear? In pain? Rewrite that narrative. Out loud. To yourself. Right now.
Rebranding your life starts with reconnection. Think of it as a complete scan of your journey so far. Who have you been? What parts of you have you silenced or ignored? For me, this looks like grabbing one of these journals I get every year from my good friend Shev and journaling in the morning not just writing about what’s wrong, but celebrating small wins and moments of joy. It’s about creating space for myself, whether that’s through meditation, prayer, or simply taking 10 minutes to sit in silence. Sometimes reconnection means rediscovering old passions. I’ve been revisiting hobbies that once lit me up and even creating new ones: dancing around my apartment, learning to cook new recipes, even singing along (terribly) to my favorite playlists. These small acts remind me of who I am beyond my titles, responsibilities, and to-do lists.
Let's also be real. Rebranding is as much on the outside as it is on the inside! With that being said, let's also talk about how we present ourselves! And how that sometimes, we can use a fashion overhaul to match this new energy we’re bringing in!
Clothes have always been more than just fashion to me. They’re armor, expression, and sometimes even therapy. But if I’m honest, my wardrobe was stuck in the past pieces that represented a version of me I’d outgrown. So, I’ve started curating a new vibe. When I look good, I feel good. And when I feel good, I radiate that energy everywhere. Your Turn: Go through your closet, your friends list and bad habits. What’s holding you back? Make space for pieces that align with the woman you’re becoming.
And another thing! Everybody can’t come with you on this journey. And that’s okay. One of the hardest lessons I’m learning is that protecting my energy is non-negotiable. I’ve had to set boundaries that feel uncomfortable but necessary. I’ve had to step back from relationships that drained me and pour into the ones that fill me up.
It’s not just about people either. It’s about habits, spaces, and even thoughts that no longer align. I’m being intentional about where my energy goes because I’ve realized something powerful: when I’m aligned, I’m unstoppable. Then there's this unspoken pressure to have your purpose all figured out by the time you’re 30, or at least 40. But life has taught me that purpose evolves. Sometimes the dream you had for yourself no longer fits, and that’s okay. Just like winter sheds old leaves, this is the time to release outdated expectations and make room for what’s to come.
Your Turn: Take inventory. What’s stealing your peace? Who or what is draining your light? It’s time to set boundaries, say no, and reclaim your energy. In this season of re-emerging, figure out your new purpose. You owe it to yourself.
This glow-up is not overnight. It’s not a quick fix or a filter that hides the flaws. It’s messy, it’s raw, and it’s real. Some days, I feel like I’m thriving, and others, I’m just trying to make it through. But what I’m learning is that every step even the hard ones —is part of the process.
Winter can be isolating, but it doesn’t have to be. I’ve learned the importance of community during this time. Whether it’s reaching out to a trusted friend, joining a group of like-minded women, or even getting cute and stepping out.
Right now, I’m giving myself permission to be a work in progress. I’m celebrating the small wins, like finally nailing my morning routine and being consistent with it. These moments remind me that I’m moving forward, even when it doesn’t feel like it.
Your Turn: Give yourself grace. Celebrate the small wins. Trust that even on your hardest days, you’re still glowing. And remember that community doesn’t just offer support; it reminds us that we’re not alone in this journey. Have you embraced the process and found your community?
The beauty of winter is that it’s not forever. This season of reflection and rebuilding is preparing us for the re-emergence of our rebranded selves. Just like the trees that seem bare but are working hard to bloom again, we are in the process of becoming.
So, as I navigate my own glow-up, I invite you to join me. Let’s take this season to reflect, to heal, and to reconnect. Let’s take inventory of our journeys, redefine our purposes, and prepare for what’s next. The glow-up isn’t about perfection; it’s about progress. And I’m right here in the middle of it with you, taking it one day, one step, one breakthrough at a time.
To my sisters reading this, know that you’re not alone in this journey. This glow-up isn’t just about me it’s about us. So here’s to the process. Here’s to rebranding ourselves inside and out. And here’s to glowing all the way up together.

Stepping into entrepreneurship is a journey of transformation, resilience, and self-discovery. For many business owners, success isn’t just about financial gains it’s about overcoming internal barriers, embracing growth, and redefining what it means to thrive.
In this interview, we speak with dynamic entrepreneur Danni Feathers who has navigated the challenges of self-doubt, learned the power of boundaries, and built a business rooted in authenticity and empowerment. Through her experiences, she shares insights on selfcare, divine feminine energy, and the lessons that have shaped her into the confident leader she is today
Before you became the boss you are today, what personal obstacles or limiting beliefs did you have to overcome?
Before stepping fully into my role as a business owner, I had to overcome self-doubt and the idea that I had to do everything on my own. I used to believe that success meant grinding non-stop, but I’ve learned that true success comes from strategy, boundaries, and knowing when to ask for help. Another big obstacle was shifting my mindset around money—understanding that I deserve to be paid well for my expertise and that it’s okay to charge my worth unapologetically.
What does self-care look like for you as an entrepreneur, and how do you prioritize your well-being while running a business?
DANNI
Self-care for me is about discipline setting boundaries with my time, making sure I’m eating well, getting enough rest, and not overloading my schedule. It also means creating space for things that bring me joy outside of my business, whether that’s a quiet moment in the morning, travel, or just spending time with loved ones.
That being said, I’ll be honest I’m still working on it. I recognize what I should be doing, but actually following through consistently is a work in progress. It’s easy to get caught up in the demands of running a business, but I’m learning to give myself grace while making self-care a non-negotiable priority.
In what ways has your business journey been a healing journey? Have you had to break any generational curses along the way?
I wouldn’t say I’ve had to break any generational curses because I come from a very business-oriented family. Entrepreneurship is in my blood, and I’ve always seen strong examples of what it takes to build something from the ground up.
However, what I have done is create a space where I’ve set boundaries and allowed myself to embrace a path that aligns with my vision of success. I’ve learned that I don’t have to follow the exact footsteps of my elders to be successful—I can take the wisdom they’ve passed down while carving out a journey that feels authentic to me.
That being said, this journey has truly been a healing experience. It has helped me understand myself better my strengths, my limits, and what I truly value. It’s forced me to trust myself, embrace my own way of doing things, and redefine success on my own terms. Through this process, I’ve gained a deeper sense of self-awareness and confidence that extends far beyond business.
Many women are stepping into their divine feminine energy. What does that mean to you, and how do you embody it in your life and work?
“Entrepreneurship is in my blood, and I’ve always seen strong examples of what it takes to build something from the ground up.”
To me, divine feminine energy is about ease, flow, and confidence. It’s knowing that I don’t have to chase—I attract. It’s about leading with grace, but also setting firm boundaries. In my work, I embody it by making my salon a sanctuary where clients feel cared for, seen, and empowered in their beauty. I embrace my divine feminine by trusting my intuition, taking care of myself, and allowing abundance to flow rather than forcing things to happen.
Has there been a moment where you truly felt like you had “become” the version of yourself you always dreamed of? If so, what did that moment feel like?
“There’s always another level, another lesson, and another version of myself waiting to emerge. And that’s what makes the journey so powerful.”
Absolutely. This journey has truly helped me realize the best version of myself—I bossed up. There wasn’t just one moment, but a series of realizations where I saw the growth in myself, in my business, and in the way I move. From making confident decisions to setting boundaries and standing firm in my worth, I’ve stepped fully into the woman and entrepreneur I always knew I could be. But trust and believe I’m still growing, learning, and evolving. I will never stop evolving. There’s always another level, another lesson, and another version of myself waiting to emerge. And that’s what makes the journey so powerful.
What’s a non-negotiable self-love or self-care practice that keeps you grounded as a business owner?
This is truly a tough one because, if I’m being honest, I tend to consider myself a people pleaser. I naturally want to make sure everyone is happy, which sometimes makes it hard to put myself first. But I’m learning that setting boundaries is a form of self-love, and it’s something I’m working on every day. One thing I’ve come to realize is that I can’t pour from an empty cup. So, my non-negotiable practice is reminding myself that I matter too. Whether it’s taking intentional breaks, honoring my time, or simply saying “no” when necessary, I’m learning that prioritizing myself isn’t selfish it’s necessary for my wellbeing and the longevity of my business.
What is one key lesson you’ve learned about balancing ambition with inner peace?
I’ve learned that ambition doesn’t have to mean constant motion. I used to be in go, go, go mode, always thinking about the next move and never truly allowing myself to rest. But I’ve realized that true success isn’t about how much you do it’s about how well you do it. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that peace comes from trusting the process. I don’t have a full team yet, but outsourcing small tasks has taught me that I don’t have to carry everything on my shoulders. It’s okay to pause, breathe, and make space for clarity. Hustling nonstop doesn’t always equal results sometimes the most powerful thing you can do for your growth is step back, regroup, and move with intention.
BOSSY!
How do you want the people who sit in your chair to feel—not just about their hair, but about themselves?
First and foremost, I am so thankful that my clients trust me to service them. It’s an honor to be a part of their loc journey, and I never take that for granted. I thank them for allowing me to enhance their crown, but more than that, I want them to feel valued, confident, and empowered. Locs are more than just a style they're a statement, a commitment, and a reflection of self-love. When my clients leave my chair, I want them to feel proud of their hair, proud of their journey, and most importantly, proud of who they are.
Who inspires you to keep going when things get tough, and how do you stay connected to that inspiration?
My biggest inspiration is my kids and my family they are my why. Everything I’m building isn’t just for me; it’s for them. I want to create a legacy, financial freedom, and opportunities that extend beyond what was available to me. Knowing that my hard work is paving the way for their future keeps me motivated, even when things get tough. But my clients also inspire me in a deep way. They put their trust in me not just to style their hair, but to guide them on their loc journey. Seeing their confidence grow, hearing their stories, and witnessing the transformations that happen in my chair remind me why I do this. When I feel overwhelmed, I think about the people who rely on me, who look forward to their appointments, and who leave feeling better than when they arrived. That trust means everything to me and keeps me pushing forward. I stay connected to that inspiration by reminding myself of the bigger picture. My family, my clients, and the legacy I’m building it all fuels me to keep going, learning, and growing.
If you could leave one message for women stepping into their power, healing, and becoming their best selves, what would it be?
Own your worth. Be unapologetic about what you deserve. Let go of the belief that struggle is required for success. Step into your power, take up space, and trust that you are worthy of everything you dream of. But also hold yourself accountable. Growth and healing require honesty with yourself. You can’t elevate if you keep making excuses or avoiding work. Stay disciplined, stay focused, and take responsibility for your journey. Success isn’t just about desire—it’s about action. You are capable, you are powerful, and you are in control of your own story. Keep going, keep growing, and never stop evolving.
What’s next for you and your business? Are there any exciting new projects or expansions on the horizon?
Absolutely! This year is all about expansion and elevating the experience for my clients and community. One of the biggest things I’m excited about is the launch of my Naturally Bliss Collection product line, which is designed to help clients maintain their locs between appointments with high-quality, nourishing products. This has been a labor of love, and I can’t wait for everyone to experience it! In addition to the product line, I’m also launching classes starting in March. Education is so important to me, and I want to equip both aspiring locticians and clients with the knowledge they need to properly care for locs. These classes will cover everything from techniques to maintenance, ensuring that more people feel empowered in their loc journey.
This is just the beginning, and I’m excited for what’s to come!
How can people stay connected with you and keep up with everything you have going on?"

Black women and those of all the intersections create a toolbox of community and inner communing.
This year there will be a lot of collective turmoil and as much as we have focused outside of us for years. We are to go inward into our higher selves, universe, ancestors and all we believe. May it support the healing of self.
Many of us are burnt out and weary from being in auto survival. we cannot connect to our bodies and many times it is found in a fight, flight, or freeze mode. High cortisol leads to inflammation and now many of us have our hormones all over the place.
The ongoing stress among all the environments we see forced to conform in will literally cause illness in our body. With the north node in Pisces a focus on holistic wellness is the invitation for this year. For the mind: I have a guided meditation and affirmation available on streaming called Lyszuli Chill. There are multiple apps and YouTube channels that support meditation.
Find a way to get present to release the spiraling and inner chatter. Sometimes stillness isn’t really being still it’s recalibrating ourselves through dance, through art for art’s sake, laughter with friends do not underestimate the beauty of friendship and hugs. Scientifically affection helps us release stress. It can all look different for us but a mixture of many things keeps reminding us we have the capacity to keep going.
Holding it all in is causing immune issues. Cry, rage (if you are a fire sign especially Aries rage rooms are your friend). Do not be ashamed of your emotions it’s reminds us what hurts, what makes us truly us, what joys we have lived and difficulties we’ve overcome. Resilience is not what people have defined it to be for Black women. To take until we internal crumble it is to receive care, to let someone hold the umbrella while the rain pours on us, to extend a hand because we have overflow, to really refocus on ourselves and the love that surrounds us. Create pockets of safe space alone and accompanied.
Pisces is about the the flow of emotion and hope that includes faith. May faith not be used to blindly by pass our reality but as an add on to supporting what can be and what is. Extremism is a dangerous path that has caused harm and disservice. The biggest part of wellness and healing is getting real with ourselves not to chastise but to gently say it’s time to not sit and become our problems but to see where we have partaken in them and we can see our way out of them. Holistic healing is also betting on ourselves and making things jappen one day at a time because it fills us with a joyful fire.

The south node is in Virgo which as much as some say to get away from it it’s a reminder that faith in ourselves is good for our health. To believe we can make changes in our day to day males space for sustaining our hope. Ensure your body has nutrients that supports you, stretch especially as we get older and all the sedentary stuff we do, get sun, breathe around nature all of these things do not have to be rigorous which is the tendency we need to leave behind The idea that it has to be a grand gesture in life for it to count can prevent us from making a move forward.
In this year, what if you literally live, laugh, love as your prescription so fully that you’d be solid in who you are versus being a martyr for people who will only ask you for more? This year will ask you during Venus retrograde to review your values and resources make sure you include your self value and who is worthy to take part in experiencing your aura and magic. Not everyone is. It is a delicate dance sometimes we mist isolate and sometimes we must be experienced mutually by the world.
Reclaim yourself, come home to yourself, and wonder what if it all works out? Find all the means to take care, to REST without guilt, get support through a licensed professional, an energy healer, a doula, all or one. Black does crack but that doesn’t have to be our story. March will be a volatile new energetic year based on astrology so rest, regroup, and for those on that go getting vibe plan and prepare. But always out your well-being first so that then we can sustain ourselves and those others that don’t deplete us.

America the Beautiful, you stand before us, a fragile woman who doesn’t love herself. And on November 5th, you proved just how much you’re willing to let an abuser back into your life.
It’s a heartbreaking realization that this country, where so many of us have fought for dignity, justice, and love, continues to embrace leaders who embody hatred, violence, and oppression. That day’s choice cut deep, and today, shame, sorrow, and exhaustion wash over me.
And on November 5th, you proved just how much you’re willing to let an abuser back into your life.
As Black women, we have poured our hearts and souls into you, into trying to help you see your own worth, trying to heal you. We have shouldered the weight of your pain, striving to protect a dream we believed could be real. But now, it feels like we’re loving someone who can’t love herself, who keeps running back to those who only know how to hurt. How many times can we pick up the pieces, when every time we look up, they’re shattered again?
America, we’ve tried so hard to lift you, to shield you from harm, to demand better for you. But today, we realize: maybe that’s not our burden to carry. Black women, we cannot keep trying to save America from herself. There comes a point when, for our own survival, we must let go. We cannot keep sacrificing ourselves, our dreams, and our sons for a nation that doesn’t believe we deserve better, that doesn't even believe she deserves better.
This is our breaking point. America, you are worthy of more, but until you see that for yourself, we must take a step back. You’ll have to walk through this part of the journey without our hands holding you up.
have my Black sons to protect. I have my heart, spirit, and community to nurture and love. Black women, we are powerful beyond measure, but we cannot keep pouring into a country that doesn’t pour back. We deserve the peace, the love, and the strength we give so freely. So, America, you’ll need to choose a different path if you ever want to change. We can’t keep losing ourselves trying to save you. Today, I turn my energy to those who see their worth, who value their future, who want a world that uplifts and heals. It’s time we give that love back to ourselves

You can experience true mindfulness and bring meditation into your daily life with the practice of walking meditation. By using the act of walking as your focal point, you can tap into a state of meditation in action
Unlike sitting meditation, walking meditation keeps our eyes open and our attention engaged with the outside world. Tripping over, interacting with others, and embracing the sounds of nature and humanity become part of the meditative experience
Walking meditation offers a unique advantage - it's easier than sitting meditation By being intensely aware of our bodies in motion, we can find a deeper connection and enjoyment in the practice Plus, with various forms to choose from, the most common being outdoors, you can easily adapt it to your preferences
Start by standing still and become aware of the subtle movements happening in your body to maintain balance. Feel the weight transferring from your body through your feet into the earth, appreciating the ability to stand upright
Maintain a normal walking pace, paying attention to the sensations in your feet - the contact and release, the texture of your shoes and socks. Keep your eyes focused, relaxed, and open to the present moment
Observe your emotional state and physical sensations without judgment Notice if you ' re bored, content, irritated, or blissful. Simply acknowledge the feelings and let them pass through
Strive for equal awareness of your inner and outer world Find a point of stillness within your mind, experiencing calmness and clarity.
After each step, allow yourself a natural pause. Feel the stillness of standing and take in the present moment before continuing Repeat this process as desired until you ' re ready to end the walk
Take a moment to reflect on your experience and appreciate the world around you. Whether you ' re in the great outdoors or any other setting, cherish this time of mindfulness and relaxation
rade your self-care routine by immersing yourself in mindful walking meditation and experience the peace and joy it brings Start your journey today and discover a new way to connect with yourself and the world.
Simply acknowledge the feelings and let them pass through.
