They shuttle back and forth to her home in Kenya and she strongly supports Wode Maya’s mission of streaming beautiful and positive African stories to the World – a great difference from the narrative propagated by the mainstream media It’s the stories you never get to hear, the side of Africa that you never get to see The primary objective is to reunite the sons of Africa with the motherland and showcase Africa to the World in a positive light, and primarily disrupt the way people view and perceive Africa

social media scene Miss Trudy has 348,000 subscribers and counting while Wode Maya has 123m subscribers and counting on YouTube at the time of publishing this issue
Their social media presence has allowed them to invest in more passive businesses that bring residual income because they are actively pursuing social media platforms Miss Their investments are mainly in real estate Owning properties for rental and Airbnb Passive investing is one of the most common strategies for increasing your income, growing your investment portfolio and building a healthy revenue stream Done right, it won’t have to take lots of your time and energy Real estate is a great choice for building passive income streams for Miss Trudy since most of her time is spent concentrating on travel, creating content, and building social media platforms

MELANIE EYLES
Much More Than Fashion FASHION
ICU2 FASHION Is a fashion business offering both private brands and design Founded by Melanie Eyles, their vision is to employ people with disabilities in fashion through image design They are located in Warragul, West Gippsland, Victoria Australia, and sell their items online internationally. They also have a private local boutique and actively participate in local markets
Starting my business is something I had prayed about for years being a mum of three children with autism a wife and working in the disability community I fell in love with the industry Having a disability, myself I also knew firsthand the challenges of the industry and how it impacted lives it was a deep desire to change this that also lead to the creation of ICU2 FASHION. Coming from a background where opportunity was little and money less I really didn’t know where I would or how I would get the resources all I knew was that it was a deep passion that pushed me to keep going I wanted to create a place where skills talents and creativity could be celebrated for everyone where the impossible became possible.
As a mum and support worker and coordinator, I saw the need to provide opportunities for people with disabilities to build a future, I also saw that much of the disability community was with limited resources and were not able to afford fashion that was available to the wider community, I wanted to close that gap and build an environment that everybody could share their talents and enjoy fashion with the focus on ability not disability A huge part of our business is the vision to employ people with disabilities in image design Everyone who is involved with ICU2 FASHION has a disability or is impacted in some way physically or with their health that limits them in other opportunities. Like most of us, the pandemic hit hard and I found myself unemployed I also got hit hard with mental health that became debilitating
Over the next 12 months, I worked through my health issues and used this time to create my dream of ICU2 FASHION I had a clear vision of what I wanted to create but had no idea where to start could I would I be able to succeed Finally I took the huge step and risk to use the last of my resources starting with tees that had positive phrases and where fun to wear Using on trend colors and easy feel to the fabric with cotton In January 2022 ICU2 FASHION started a soft launch and by April of 2022 we were now a fully registered business and building in our community as well as internationally Increasing to multi brands we developed an incredible range of fashion that our community love, we now have a private boutique, visit our community directly with markets We are also online expanding our business to international waters and have been featured in our local community paper We plan to do a fashion show with our brands and our own design in 2023 to raise funds to start our vision of employing people with disabilities in design. We are in discussions all the time with our local disability agencies with keen support to have participants who would like to be involved given the opportunity to do so through modelling and designs
The future of ICU2 FASHION is bursting with energy and expanding all the time, It takes dedication hard work, many days of late night and early mornings but every day is a gift when you know what you are working for and love it you never truly work because it is your passion and that just feels so different

GUESTING
As a female entrepreneur, you know how important it is to market yourself and your business You’re always looking for new ways to reach potential customers and build your online presence One marketing strategy that can help you reach
new audiences and build trust with potential customers is podcast guesting.
Podcast guesting allows you to connect with your audience on a deeper level and establish yourself as an authority in your niche But what is podcast guesting and why should you add it to your marketing strategy?
What is Podcast Guesting?
Podcasts are becoming increasingly popular and they’re a great way to get your name out there and increase your visibility as an authority in your field Podcast guesting is when a host invites an expert on their show for an interview So, you don’t need to have your own podcast in order to be a guest on someone else’s podcast

Female

Why PODCAST
IS ESSENTIALin2023 for
Entrepreneurs
NinaMacarie
It’s an opportunity for both parties to learn from each other and broaden their networks As a podcast guest, you get the chance to share your knowledge, experiences, stories, or opinions with the host’s listeners. It also gives you access to a new audience that may not have otherwise heard of you or your work This will help you reach more potential customers and establish yourself as an expert in your industry
Benefits of Podcast Guesting
Podcast guesting offers many benefits for female entrepreneurs who are looking to increase their visibility online For starters, it allows you to establish yourself as an authority in your field by sharing valuable insights with the host's audience You can also use podcast appearances as a way to promote any products or services that you offer (please always check with the host first, most of them will allow you to do that but there are some of them who are more strict), as well as upcoming events or initiatives that you are involved in. When listeners hear you speak about something on a podcast, they will begin to trust that you know what you’re talking about (because they already trust that host and they know that their favorite podcast host will bring on only people that are a good fit for the podcast)
This means that when they visit your website or other online platforms, they will already have some level of trust in what you have to say. Podcast guesting allows listeners to get to know more about who you are as a person and an entrepreneur before ever making a purchase from you which can increase customer loyalty down the road.
Additionally, podcast guesting helps strengthen relationships within your industry, which can lead to more collaborations and opportunities down the line I’ve seen my clients get invites to summits, Instagram lives or listeners of the show who have their own podcasts reached out to them to invite them on their podcast. Some of them got invites to come back to the same show to share more about their expertise and offers. By networking with hosts and continuing conversations after the episode has aired, it’s possible for these relationships to turn into mutually beneficial partnerships or collaborations in the future!
Why You Should Add Podcast Guesting To Your Marketing Strategy
The #1 reason why female entrepreneurs should add podcast guesting to their marketing strategy is that it provides them with an opportunity to reach a new audience that they would not have been able to reach through traditional marketing methods.
Plus, it helps create brand awareness and trust among potential customers by putting a face (and voice!) behind your brand. Lastly, podcast appearances also provide valuable backlinks that can help boost your website’s search engine rankings which can ultimately lead to more traffic and conversions! The content will live there for months and months, and people can find the interview long after the episode is aired
In conclusion, adding podcast guesting into your marketing strategy is essential for female entrepreneurs who want to build their online presence and reach more potential customers So if you are a female online entrepreneur and haven’t already started using podcasts as part of your marketing strategy now is the best time!

SUE SIMMONS
CONFIDENCE COURAGE Giving Women
RESILIENCE
“Many years ago, during one of my kids’ numerous life-anddeath struggles, my sister nicknamed me SueNami, because I refused to give up There were times I didn’t know if I’d make it, but today I’m stronger and happier than I’ve ever been”
They say what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger. Sue Simmons (aka SueNami) is living proof, but despite her confident exterior, it was touch-and-go for many years
As a young woman, being a parent was always something that Sue dreamed of. She longed to give her children the unconditional love that her own mother, due to mental health issues, couldn’t provide
Nothing could have prepared her for what was in store raising two children with autism without support from her partner, also on the spectrum
Each of her kids struggled with both physical and mental health challenges leading to life-threatening struggles that spanned two decades. Along the way, following her son’s diagnosis at age 5, Simmons stumbled upon a parent-based program that would change the course of her son’s life - and her own
This approach would enable her to build an “attuned” emotional connection with her son. The subsequent shifts in her son’s life and their family were so dramatic that she devoted two years training under the psychologist/program founder to earn certification, and deliver this forward thinking program to other families
Out of this crisis, Simmons became an “accidental entrepreneur,” and developed a fierce passion to support other dedicated parents, struggling as she had herself A new chapter had begun However, what wasn’t apparent even to her, was despite her success in helping others, her own emotional world was crumbling, leaving her feeling like a fraud She was battling Imposter Syndrome
Her work was in high demand It quickly became clear that the crippling stress and guilt that her clients faced presented a significant obstacle, not to mention the suffering it inflicted In search of a solution, she discovered Emotional Freedom Techniques, a form of energy psychology which has become known as “tapping” in recent years This quickly became her “secret sauce” and to this day continues to garner magical outcomes in the realm of confidence, stress relief and crushing limiting beliefs
The process of becoming a Certified EFT Practitioner, and eventually a Master Practitioner was her saving grace. Blinded by societal programming and ignoring her own needs, her mental health had been swept under the carpet Through her training, she was forced to look in the mirror and address the demons that she herself had avoided facing
Simmons was blessed to change the lives of families affected by autism for over 15 years After separating from her husband of 25 years, with a healthy dose of inner work and soul-searching, she knew in her heart that it was time for a shift
Sue was ready to help other female entrepreneurs who were struggling with Imposter Syndrome as she had, but were hiding their painful secret from the light of day for fear of being exposed as “frauds”
“Our inner world impacts every aspect of our outer world,” says Simmons. “When we try to build a business with fear running the show, we can’t be authentic Potential clients ‘feel’ that energy On top of that, fear of visibility and failure are dream killers. Nothing is more satisfying than helping other women get beyond this this work allows them to soar in life and business.”
It’s been said that we can’t outrun the lessons we’re here to learn in this lifetime. Through addressing her children’s and clients’ needs, her own needs were met, miraculously Not only that, but she emerged with the compassion, skills and energetic tools to make deep, lasting change that surpasses the abilities of most coaches in their work
Today, her “SueNami energy” has paid off both personally, and professionally. With a successful coaching business, a rich spiritual life, and both of her now adult children poised to shine their own light on the world, life is good.

TIPS FOR WRITING BOOKS: Truths
New Year, New You, Boom or Bust? I am very excited to be writing for SHE Tribe. When Maureen asked me if I wanted to write my own monthly column for the magazine I jumped at the chance.
So, I’ve got some brilliant ideas for you all over the coming months, diving into all the topics around writing books for your business that I think you’ll find inspiring. Such as: what to do if you get writers block; or finding your unique voice as an author; and should you pay for reviews.
And I will be giving you THE TRUTH about writing, not the shiny, glowy version. You’ll get a shedload of helpful tips that I use with all my clients for e-books, help guides, and fulllength nonfiction works. And I’ll also do the odd foray into fiction, because—why the heck not? Let's celebrate our creative freedom to go where we are inspired to travel to.
In this month’s issue, because it’s my first, it’s January, and we’re still getting to know each other, I’m going to ask the question: New Year’s Resolutions – Yes, or No?
After the indulgence of the holiday season, it’s tempting to begin the new year with a bang. Introducing new products to our audiences, bringing out the latest new shiny thing. Or promising ourselves that we will do the thing we’ve been putting off for the second half of the year.
ClaireBeesly
January has that weird boom or bust mentality that more often than not ends with bust. Or probably more likely, a holiday weight bloated fizzle into silence.
There is nothing wrong with wanting to mix things up a bit. But my view is that January should be about forming new habits that serve us as well as our clients. And habits take time to become established.

“New year is the glittering light to brighten the dream-lined pathway of future.”
Munia Khan
TheGood,TheBad,&TheUgly
I am all about the writing, so am I saying don’t start writing your book in January?
Heck no!
What I am saying is that if you want to have a book published in 2023, then you’re gonna need to get a good writing habit going. Especially if your intention is to publish by, say, March, and you’ve not yet got a clue what your book is about. Or you want to publish five books this year.
Forming good writing habits is key to getting content written, edited, and ready for publishing—at pace. My top tips for you to start right now are:
1 Be clear about your audience and write to market
2 Have a single theme that runs through your book
3 Structure your book so you take your ideal reader on a journey
4.Write every single day
5.Do not edit until you’ve finished drafting
6 Self-edit first, then hire a professional to edit for you
7 Always hire a proofreader
8 Always hire a professional cover designer
Audience and writing to market
Just like you have an ideal client in mind when you market and showcase your services and/or products, you need an ideal reader in mind when you’re writing your business book. Starting with your ideal client is good. But remember that your readership for your book will be much wider than for your services, particularly if your services are aimed at high paying clients.
One Theme
Your readers need to come away from reading your book with a clear message, feeling more knowledgeable and capable about something they felt unsure of before. If you have too many themes in your book, and you jump around from topic to topic, then your reader will end up confused and might even put your book down before finishing it.
A theme would be:
Recovering from anxiety and depression to self-love and confidence – don't go off topic to start discussing mental health disorders or neurodivergence
·Developing healthy relationships with your children – don't decide you’re also going to cover romantic relationships, intergenerational relationships or trauma, or sibling rivalry
·Becoming resilient to burnout as a business owner – going off topic might look like discussing how to get clients, or what to do about building self-confidence
If you aren’t sure if you’re going off topic in your books, then work with an editor or writing coach (like me) and they will help.
Structure
This is arguably the most important aspect—and the one given least importance—when it comes to writing business books by a new writer Vitally, your reader must travel from where they begin—with the problem you are helping them solve—to where they end—with ideas for how they can solve their problem And they must be empowered to own their journey and growth
This is a contentious one, and I’ve come across many writers who don’t do this and end up finishing their books just fine. One client I worked with last year had dedicated days when she would write. But I have to say, she was the exception with a very understanding family who gave her space to write.
But it was grueling, and my view is this individual is something special when it comes to dedication. (She is somewhat of a hero of mine, as I coached her for three months through a HUGE developmental edit on a 120,000-word novel).
For most new writers, I advise writing little and often. Aiming for 200 – 500 words a day is feasible. It doesn’t feel overwhelming and by the end of a week, you’ve got 1,400 – 3,500 words. In a month, you’ve got a novella or short self-help book you can sell for actual money.
Remember, we are forming new, resilient, long-term habits that are sustainable for our entire careers.
Edit Last
This is really important: if you keep fiddling with your words as you write, your progress will be slower. Plus, fresh eyes mean you can spot errors and areas for improvement more easily.
Professionals
I’m bundling the last three points into one. As with any business venture, it is absolutely critical that you work with professionals. Do not scrimp on editors, proofreaders and designers. They are worth their weight in gold, and even as a professional writer myself, professionals edit my work.
Your book is representing both you and your business. It is an opportunity for your readers to get to know you and your business and perhaps even turn into clients or buy your products. You must present a professional book that is well structured, formatted and edited. There is nothing more damaging than a substandard product.
And this goes for book covers too. It's like food. You eat with the eyes first. If a plate of food rocks up in a restaurant that doesn’t look appetizing and in line with your expectations, you will send it back, ask for a discount, and never eat there again. I have seen far too many actually pretty good books ruined by an absolutely horrific cover. This is an investment in your business, not a bottom-line cost you need to recoup.
And finally, you pay for what you get. Pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Do not be tempted by offers on Fiver and elsewhere offering low prices. Editing takes hours of work, so you’re going to have to pay for that time. And good designers are ones that understand your business and audience, not just a guy whose bought some software and can put a pdf together.
If all of this sounds really daunting, then I strongly recommend working with a book/writing coach, or even hiring a ghostwriter. They’ll take on the mental load of writing, supporting you through each stage, or writing the whole thing for you. It’s still a lot of work, and the responsibility remains yours, but there is help out there.
To sum up, my view is that new year’s resolutions are a bit meh, but forming new habits to help you achieve your goals are where it’s at. And as strong female business owners, I know you totally get that.
I’d love to hear about your writing goals and ideas for 2023, so feel free to drop me an email, or you can come follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Medium.

As far as l can remember, my childhood was fun. My talent helped bring my family up a little and for that, l am grateful to God. My interest started when l watched a music video by Ariana Grande. I saw her and decided l wanted to sing and be famous. God answered my prayers and here l am. Like l said, l am a children’s TV host and voice-over artist. I have also acted in three movies so far which are now on Netflix. The first one was Supa Modo, which was my favorite. I also did a voice-over for Super Sema which is part of Super Sema animation series. You can also watch them on YouTube. l am a TV host for a kid's show called Generation 3 which is on NTV, a local broadcasting station in Kenya. I also love singing, dancing, drawing and a lot of jazz.
Zuri: What challenges have you faced as an actor, and how did you get through them?
Stycie: My greatest challenge is losing a role There are not a lot of roles for kids, and this should change When l get opportunities and then lose them, that is a major loss It gets me down As an actress, you will get so many nos before you get a yes
Another challenge is getting an agency because l want to go to Hollywood. I am in Africa and nobody seems to take us seriously Getting a real agent in the US is really hard when you are here Let everyone reading this know that l am a good actress in need of a good agent in Hollywood I know l will do well Finally, I would like to work on my craft but the classes are very expensive But l watch a lot of acting tutorials on YouTube. Those are the challenges l am facing right now. They seem big because my dreams are big..
Zuri: What moments in your career as a young actress stand out the most for you, and why is that?
Stycie: The first-time l knew we were going to be awarded for our acting. It is something that actors and actresses like, winning awards. I want to keep winning. I am surprised that a lot of people don’t know about festivals. The first film festival l went to was so much fun. I got to answer questions, take photographs and walk on the red carpet I went to Qatar and signed autographs People were taking photos of us like the paparazzi When you meet people at the film festival who watched the movie and appreciate it as much as you do, you really feel good. You meet both fans and make good connections.
.
Zuri: What motivates/motivated you to become who you are today?
Stycie: My goals motivate me One of my major goals is to be a Hollywood actress I want to be a big actress in Hollywood I am going to give it my best and hope it works out.
.
Zuri: What was your experience while acting in some major films like Supa Modo?
Stycie: Even though l was young, l can remember it was really exciting and fun because it was a dream come true for me I have always wanted to act in major films I always wanted to know how everything happens in front and behind cameras It was so much fun it didn’t feel like it was a job. The food on the set was also good. I remember they had gummy bears once. Everyone on set was so supportive.
.
Zuri: Out of all the moves and TV shows you have acted in, which one did you enjoy the most, and why?
Stycie: The one l enjoyed the most was Supa Modo I feel it made me who l am today It was my first time and a dream come true I was excited when it was selected for the Oscars I knew l had made it Everyone should watch Supa Modo I would still say, hands down, Supa Modo was and is still the best movie l did I am so grateful to God that l was part of it

Zuri: How did you start your YouTube channel, and grow your social media?
Stycie: My dad started my YouTube channel to help me post videos about me and thriller movies. It started around 2017 or 2018 But l don’t have a lot of followers If you are reading this, please subscribe to my YouTube channel
I have many followers on my Instagram page. I grew it by posting a lot of photos. I also have a video on how l grew my Facebook followers to 100,000. A lot of people know me from reading articles and interviews l have had and they follow me. I hope someday to have a billion followers. So help a girl get there
Zuri: How did you achieve such an amazing role as a voice artist, and what was the process like when you were working on Super Sema?
Stycie: I got the role after Supa Modo My mum got the audition from an agent and l did it I got a script, recorded it on my mum’s phone and she sent it to the agent They liked my voice It wasn’t hard We would start with games and that made it easy This was good because l have always had it in my bucket list to do a voice-over for a Disney Movie So this is a start Your dreams can actually come true which can be mind-blowing We are still recording Super Sema We are in season three right now I also did a Christmas special, which was really nice I don’t see these as jobs because they are so much fun Sometimes the studio sends scripts or l get them when l get to the studio We then record and we have lunch I have done this for five years if you include this year It has become easy and fast. I work with an amazing cast and crew. I have no complaints. I love it.
Zuri: What are some of the things you have learned over the years?
Stycie: I learned that school is very important When l got my role in Supa Modo, l thought l would retire at 14 I didn’t go to school for a whole month. I thought l was done. But l actually came to understand that school is important because you get asked about your progress in school. At some point l wanted to be a doctor but that changed. I really want this acting to work So l will stay in school
.
.
Stycie: It’s weird that it is already 2023 It was just 2018 the other day and l was doing Supa Modo. I am really hoping and wishing to get to Hollywood, to do a Disney movie or voice-over. I am hoping to get amazing roles this year. I also want to start a foundation that will help people. The biggest of all targets l have this year is to get to Hollywood, and everything else will fall into place.
But making it as an actress from a developing country is so hard I can’t explain how hard it is My advice is that as you go into acting, don’t have high expectations because you will be disappointed. My family is trying all their best to get me to Hollywood but it is hard. It gets hard if you have no money or connections. Hopefully it will, still work out, you know .
Zuri: What is your advice to young girls who aspire to be like you?
Stycie: Do what can by learning as many skills as you possibly can. If you are able to draw, just draw. If you are good at singing, just sing. If you are able to get tutorials on YouTube to sharpen your skills, please do so. These skills are needed in the Hollywood industry. If you want to get roles, you can visit Instagram and search for advertised auditions. Check out people with audition roles. Do not get discouraged when you don’t get roles You must grow a tough skin You might not get roles that you like, or not get jobs, but do not give up on our career
Zuri: What do you hope for 2023? All the best
You are super awesome!

During the production, I had to shave off all my hair to portray the terminally ill Jo’ in the film.
