About She Stories

She Stories is a community of women that promotes self wellness, empowerment and the value of supporting each other You have overcome tremendous obstacles. Telling your story brings healing for you and others. There is empowerment in every story. We are Real Women with Real Stories. What started out as a storytelling night has transformed into a sisterhood. From gatherings to giving back, we inspire and affirm the every day woman that she is brave and beautiful..

Our Founder

In 2017, I decided carry on the tradition and share this amazing gift of storytelling from my elders to my tribe I provided a sacred space for women to share their challenges and victories so they can not only be empowered but through each story women would find a circle of support and empowerment Her story matters and the world needs to hear it Ehmandah Ramsey

She Stories has always been about women sharing their stories through storytelling. (Yeah, that’s me with a box of tissue) We believe there’s healing that happens when we share our stories. We all have one!

By sharing our stories, we prove that it’s possible to shift change through another woman’s journey, struggles, and triumphs.

Elevating women of all ages is powerful. Compassion and love speaks volumes. And when they’re combined among a community of bosses, we ALL thrive!

EHMANDAH RAMSEY

Remember when Jay Z said “Allow me to re introduce myself!”? That’s what I heard when writing this week’s feature. I’ve had 15 years worth of interactions with Ehmandah and her story never gets old. In fact, it gets better.

Ehmandah has often shared her story of being a "PK" (pastor's) raised in church and listening to people share their testimonies and prayers Her love and passion for helping others allowed her to create a safe place for women to share and heal. As a single mother raising a girl to be strong and love herself hasn’t always been easy, but she leaned on her faith in God and the love and support her family provided. Her parents provided the strength and love in her foundation and being the youngest of her siblings allowed her to develop her own voice and create her identity

It’s no wonder her businesses are essentially rooted in mental health and self love, but it was Ehmandah’s response when I asked her what ignited her passion. Having a circle of support through friends and family, she fell in love with creating “home” in her community.

CHEAT YOU OUT OF

Life will come with challenges. You have eveything within you to succeed. Find your path to healing and become their person you were born to be.

“DON'T LET YOUR CHALLENGES
YOUR DREAMS.” EHMANDAH:

“Trust your dopeness.”

Ehmandah remembers when her dreams of being a wife and mother soon turned into a nightmare when the relationship became abusive. She remembered the testimonies people would share about overcoming life’s hurdles and knew that there was a great deal of healing that would take place when people share their stories

This prompted her to create a community of women that are fellow survivors, women who run things in AND out of the home, women that help other women reach their goals, and make a difference. Ehmandah has a way of seeing potential in things before they even start, some might call her a “Goal Digger”

Ehmandah finds joy in helping others reach their higher potentials. And the way she’s able to manifest ideas and water them to growth is definitely something to witness, but to really get the full effect of the community she cultivates, you’ll need to check out her storytelling nights. She’s developing more for women to come together and uplift each other. And by encouraging women to share their stories, lives are changed and deep healing begins.

"It was a dream until it became a nightmare."

CELEBRATING SMALL WINS

When talking to most women I usually hear them say that they are on a journey towards completing something amazing, whether that is prepping to finish school, plans for a big move, starting a new job, rejuvenating their health or a new business venture They are pursuing a goal, setting a vision and taking steps to get there. As humans, we are always aspiring towards something. But what gets in the way and what can we do to keep us moving forward despite obstacles? Obstacles like self doubt, lack of motivation, distraction, fear of failure and lack of support systems during the journey

We are all familiar with the obstacles, but we overlook the small wins during the journey. Without the milestones, we could never achieve our ultimate goal

LCSW

HERE ARE THREE REASONS TO CELEBRATE THE SMALL ACHIEVEMENTS DURING THE JOURNEY:

When we meet a milestone, whether it is small or big, the reward system in our brain is triggered. As a result, the brain releases dopamine, the “happy” chemical. In better terms, your mind is throwing itself a party! This act serves as an intrinsic reward system and serves a motivation for the future

Jodi Clarke, MA, from VeryWell mind states that “While celebrating your milestone is important, it is equally important to reflect on how you got there” Here are some questions to reflect on during the journey: what strengths did you utilize to achieve your goal, how did you overcome the obstacles, and who helped along the way? These reflective questions slow us down; help us identify what we did well and what it took to get there It is a way to honor the process For more ways to slow down, check out this mindfulness page for more tips: https://www.mindful.org/meditation/mindfulness getting started/

The smallest day to day tasks may seem mundane, but without them the goal is unachievable. Burn out is common, especially when trying to achieve a long term goal. So in 2011, the Harvard Business Review stated that “Of all the things that can boost inner work and life, the most important is making progress in meaningful work.” It would be easy to overlook the mundane tasks, but this is the progress we as women need to celebrate with one another. Let’s work to celebrate our tribe’s milestones. The women in our lives need encouragements in their journey What are some ways can we support each other?

The final goal is what we show on our social media; it is the picture perfect product. However, the small day to day successes were the best milestones

We absolutely love sharing the stories of everyday women just like you! Most women have a story to tell, some have never shared it with others, and some consistently use their story to uplift someone else.

There’s healing in sharing your story. You find that there’s things only you could’ve experienced, until you hear someone else with a similar experience. It’s pretty empowering!
