NEW HIGH-GLOSS POLYURETHANE TOPCOAT ADDS TO

YOUR BOTTOM LINE

Sherwin-Williams announces Sayerlack RD Acrylic Polyurethane, a unique, patented clear polyurethane high-gloss topcoat that delivers bottom line results through Rapid Dry (RD) at ambient temperatures. The new topcoat helps manufacturers of high-end residential or commercial furniture, store fixtures and displays, wall paneling, musical instruments and novelties finish more pieces in less time. ®

Sayerlack RD Acrylic Polyurethane is a clear, full gloss, formaldehyde-free topcoat system that cures at ambient (70-75°F) temperatures. That saves energy use and costs by eliminating the need for high-temperature bake cycles to achieve a fast cure time.

The topcoat’s patented technology manages the cure reaction to provide a Rapid Dry (RD) while maximizing gloss. Finished goods may be handled and polished in as little as 30 minutes, depending on film build.

The system utilizes simple mixing ratios to achieve either high or normal build options to match your application requirements. FAST PACE GROWTH CONTINUED FROM PAGE 1 Not only does Airmix® enhance atomization, its low paint particle velocities and low air consumption create excellent material distribution and fine particle size. What’s more, its high transfer efficiencies minimize booth contamination and save paint. With Airmix, finishers achieve easily repeatable control that allows them to apply the same amount of spray stain day in and day out.

Sherwin-Williams Equipment Specialist Tony Wens and Technical Representative Tony Kalil worked onsite at RidgeCrest to test, install, train and support the incorporation of the Airmix guns and pumps into the company’s finishing line. Then, in coordination with RidgeCrest, they added a six-color SAMES KREMLIN® quick color change system to the flatline.

RESULTS As a result of the personalized onsite service and Airmix pumps and guns: ■ Production volume increased 33% from 300 to 400 cabinets per day ■ Color changes take less than one minute, with minimal waste ■ No adjustments are needed on the guns when going from one stain color to the next ■ Technology and training elevated employee skillsets to allow for greater production with the same number of personnel ■ Compressed air demand decreased by 50% ■ Transfer efficiencies increased to 86% (more than a 20% improvement over HVLP), maximizing paint savings
