IN FULL BRUCE IRUSSI, PRESIDENT, SHERWIN-WILLIAMS GENERAL INDUSTRIAL COATINGS
Our recent acquisition of Valspar means we have a vastly increased portfolio of liquid and powder coatings to introduce to you. We understand that our coatings are an integral component of your finished products. That is why we aim to be a partner you can count on. But it’s not enough to have a broader offering. What we judge ourselves on just as much is execution. From consistent color to reliable order fulfillment, we’re committed to getting it right. Our Finishing Systems program broadens our scope as a partner by looking at your operation holistically, with an eye toward maximizing your efficiency while reducing your costs, and you’ll read about how that can work in this issue. The bottom line is Sherwin-Williams, with its 70+ company-owned facilities and dedicated technical and sales organization, is built to help you with your speed-to-market objectives. Never hesitate to ask your sales representative for insights. We strive every day to earn the trust you place in us so that you can serve your customers as they expect.
Wagner is a leading global supplier of industrial finishing systems. Sherwin-Williams and Wagner joined forces to help a customer overcome field failures with a competitor’s coating sprayed in a heavy-duty application. CHALLENGE The customer, a world leader in manufacturing equipment for the aggregate, construction industrial and recycling industries, finished their rock crushers with a one-component high-solids alkyd applied with air-assisted airless guns, but the finish was prone to chalking, fading and peeling in use. For more rugged performance, they sought to convert to a two-component high solids urethane that would require equipment upgrades and better functionality.
SOLUTION Sherwin-Williams sales representative Kevin Johnson arranged a visit with Wagner and the customer at the annual Portland Facility Expo, where Wagner was displaying their newest product offerings. There, Senior Equipment Systems Executive Ty Crowder and Wagner demonstrated Wagner’s Twin Control two-component mixing and dosing system. After demoing the Twin Control at the Facility Expo, the customer asked Sherwin-Williams and Wagner to quote the installation of the unit. In addition to that, a custom control package was created to modify the booth to spray the new two-component paint, slow down the airflow for a short bake cycle to force cure and boost throughput.
