FILTRATION GROUP – INDUSTRIAL FINISHING SUCCESS STORY

Filtration Group – Industrial Finishing offers custom filtration solutions and a wide variety of spray booth maintenance products for OEMs and contract finishers that perform liquid and powder coating painting processes. A Sherwin-Williams ProVisions™ 2015 Vendor of the Year Award co-winner, the company, via Sherwin-Williams, helped a namebrand guitar manufacturer overcome filtration issues in their finishing department that caused excessive rework.

Challenge The guitar manufacturer sought to better manage airflow and quality in the finishing operation. Issues were: Operators were replacing filters too often due to excessive paint overspray in the process ■ The company was not getting the needed technical and field support from its local vendor ■

Solution Sherwin-Williams, as the polyester undercoat sealer supplier to this process, enlisted Sherwin-Williams ProVisions partner Filtration Group to troubleshoot the overspray efficiency issue on a trial basis. Filtration Group evaluated existing filter samples and concluded that different filters were necessary to achieve the efficiency results.A three-month trial run using a set of panel filters, cube filters and custom-made blankets achieved high performance and reliability marks.

The team then made plans to orchestrate stocking and on-time delivery of the full filtration solution every month. Each filter type cycles out in different time frames, with the blankets changed out six times a day per booth, the panel filters every five to seven days, and the cube filters monthly.
