Executive Director's Message
As we enter 2025 there are some exciting things coming to the Warrenville Park District. Leading the charge is the upcoming changes and renovation of Cerny Park. One of the major highlights of this project will be the replacement of the current playground at Cerny Park. Last fall we asked the community to vote on which playground they would like to have at Cerny Park. We had an overwhelming response and “Option 1” was selected (pictured below). We are excited to bring a fully accessible and inclusive structure for the community to enjoy along with a poured-in-place surface. In addition to the new playground, we will be installing two pickleball courts, updating and making improvements to the shelter, updating the water fight area, and color coating the basketball courts. I would like to thank the City of Warrenville for their continued support of the Park District along with their continued dedication to providing Warrenville with opportunities that prioritize play, community and recreation. Construction is set to take place late spring and into the summer months. Although there will be disruptions down at the park, we are working to ensure that community events like the 4th of July and National Night Out will be minimally impacted. I truly appreciate the community embracing this project and making updates to the park that the community will be able to enjoy for years to come!
As always, if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, on how the Park District can better serve you, please feel free to contact me directly. I wish you a fun and healthy Winter/Spring with friends, families and the Warrenville Park District.

As a Volunteer
JOIN THE TEAM OF VIPS – VOLUNTEERS IN PARKS, who contribute their time, energy and enthusiasm to the Warrenville Park District. We offer an assortment of volunteer opportunities that can get you involved in the community while giving you a rewarding experience. See the inside back cover for upcoming volunteer opportunities.
VOLUNTEER SPOTLIGHT - MAX SCHROEDER: Max has been volunteering as a youth basketball and soccer coach for the last year. He volunteers because of his love for sports and wanting to provide structure to kids who are either wanting to just go out and have fun or play competitive. His favorite part of volunteering is bonding with the kids. Max still feels like a high schooler so it’s easy for him to relate to the kids as they’re making new friends and trying to find hobbies that they love. Youth sports are so important for kids to grow and develop their communicative skills, and he just want to be a coach for them that doesn’t care how they play, but just wants to make sure that they love coming to practice and the games.

Coordination & motor skills - A strong, healthy body is essential to a pain-free life and benefits the mind. Our classes will help develop good motor skills and develop a movement habit throughout their lives. Our classes will help your child learn how to healthily handle their emotions. Confidence - Our classes strategically set up challenges to overcome. The process of failing these challenges and persevering until they succeed is the cycle that will build a strong instinct that they can overcome anything. DW

Kids Beginner Tae Kwon Do Ages 7-13
Getting your child started on the path to health and happiness is all about starting early. The earlier they receive these skills, the more accessible and more impactful the benefits will be in their life. Martial arts classes for kids aged 7-13 years offering a beginner level experience in “”Tae Kwon Do”” specifically focused on building 3 major life skills: Build confidence - We set up systematic obstacles that our students must overcome to build a deep, instinctual understanding that they can overcome anything, building true confidence. Most places just TELL kids to be confident. We BUILD confidence. Build discipline - Discipline is a core tenet of martial arts. We help our students develop the tools to always accomplish anything they want and capitalize on whatever passions and goals they have. Build a strong mind and body - Not only does martial arts form a strong, healthy body, but also a strong mind. We help students gain control over their emotions and behavior so that THEY are in control of their lives instead of the other way around. DW

Mayslake Peabody
Estate Tour Ages 16+
We’ll begin our day with a guided tour throughout the Mayslake Peabody Estate. Mayslake Hall was built between 1919 and 1921 as the retirement home for Francis Stuyvesant Peabody, one of the nation’s largest coal producers. The historic house is an outstanding example of Tudor Revival architecture, a style loosely based on a variety of English medieval building traditions. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Today, Mayslake Hall, with its opulent appearance, rural setting and formality, stands as a rare reminder of the magnificent country houses that once graced the landscape of Dupage County. This trip includes stairs and due to the nature of the historical structure there are no elevators. Fee includes tour of the mansion, gardens, and transportation. Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant on your own. RB.

Our Commitment to Quality and Service
Total quality management is one of our goals. We strive to provide you with high quality recreation programming, and we take pride in making your experience with the Warrenville Park District an enjoyable one. If you are not completely satisfied with your recreation experience or any service that the park district provides, please contact us to share your concerns and suggestions for improvement. We would also like to hear what you especially like about our programs and services. Please call 630.393.7279 to receive our Customer Feedback Form.
Errors and Adjustments
While we at the Warrenville Park District try to be accurate in the information presented in our brochure, some unavoidable errors or changes to the programs, fees, schedules, and other information may occur. The Park District apologizes for any inconvenience resulting from these necessary adjustments.
Park District Risk Management Association
In 1993, the Warrenville Park District became a member of the Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA). As a loss prevention measure, that group has asked its members to require program participants to execute a release form. The Waiver, Release and Hold Harmless Agreement is part of the registration form. Please read the form carefully, sign it and submit it when you register for any particular program. At the time of registration or at the first program session, you may be presented with a sheet describing some of the particular risk involved in that particular activity for which you have registered. If so, that additional material will become a part of the Waiver. Release and Hold Harmless Agreement. We want the registrants in our programs to be aware in advance that, when they participate in certain activities, there is a natural element of risk of injury which each participant must assume. We do not carry medical or accident insurance for program participants. The costs of that type of personal health insurance would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage. The use of this form is one of our answers to the national liability insurance crisis, allowing us to continue to offer quality programs to the public at a reasonable cost. If you have any questions, please call 630.393.7279.
General Information
Behavior Management/Code of Conduct
All participants, parents, siblings, volunteers, and affiliate groups are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at all times. The following guidelines have been developed to help make all of our programs, events, and affiliate programs safe and enjoyable for all participants. Additional rules may be developed for specific programs as deemed necessary by staff.

2. Follow all program/event rules and take direction from staff.
3. Refrain from using abusive or foul language.
4. Refrain from threatening or causing bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.
5. Refrain from harassment of any kind to other participants or staff.
6. Refrain from any type of bullying.
7. Refrain from any type of aggressive and violent behavior during park district or affiliate sponsored programs.
8. Show respect for equipment, supplies, and facilities.
9. Not possess any weapons.
The Warrenville Park District expects all individuals to conduct themselves in a manner in keeping with their levels of development, maturity, and demonstrated capabilities with a proper regard for rights and welfare of other individuals, staff, volunteers, and district officials.
Discipline

If inappropriate behavior occurs, a prompt resolutions will be sought specific to each individual’s situation. Warrenville Park District reserves the right to dismiss a participant, parent or sibling, or affiliate whose behavior endangers his or her own safety or the safety of others.
Inclusion services are designed to provide the least restrictive environment while providing the maximum opportunity to participate in regular park district programs. There is no charge for Western DuPage Special Recreation Association’s (WDSRA) support. To register for services, simply indicate that special accommodations are needed on the park district registration form. Twoweek advance notice is requested for inclusion support.
Pitch to the Pros!
Is there a particular class you have been looking for? Is there something new your kids or you would like to participate in?
