FAMILY WELLNESS CAMPAIGN Does it seem like we are always asking?

We are asking for your support because there are always needs “walking in the doors of Sheridan House.” But we are no longer waiting for families to be in crisis.

Over the past decade Sheridan House has added a very significant component to our ministry package. We still have the children’s homes. We still work with thousands of single moms and their children and we still have the two counseling centers. But we’ve stopped waiting. We’ve begun a “Family Wellness Campaign.”

Families today can find help before they get into a crisis situation. Young families can be helped with information about “how to do family.” Why wait until the family breaks down before we become involved in their lives. Why not become involved with parents with young children as they are just beginning.

Our Family Wellness Campaign includes a daily radio broadcast, a daily podcast and blog on family and instructional DVDs. We have also been conducting seminars on parenting in schools, churches and businesses.

Several years ago the mother of a boy in one of our children’s homes walked out of our Thursday night parenting meeting and said, “I wish I had this information when Todd was a little boy. Then he probably wouldn’t have had to be here. You guys have to get this out.”

We heard her! Why support Sheridan House on a regular basis? Your support is helping families who are in crisis and you are also supporting family wellness. Healthy families mean a healthy culture. We believe God has a plan for how families can thrive and raise the next generation of godly leaders. What could possibly be more important than that?

The boy’s pictured on the cover are actual boys who have been in our residential program. When most of these children arrive at Sheridan House they are experiencing mild to moderate behavior issues which include: school suspensions, difficulties or academic failure, disruptive family behavior, immaturity, poor impulse control, defiant and disrespectful behavior, procrastination, and motivational problems.

Usually, within just a few weeks at Sheridan House, these boys begin to change and start to show tremendous improvement in their behavior. This change begins to take place because they are shown the love of Jesus by being placed in a caring and structured environment.
