Sheri Boston Invitation to Learning Lesson Plan for training in the workplace Prepared by Sheri Boston • Instructional Designer

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE It is my responsibility for all training in my organization. It has becoming more and more apparent that the staff is not motivated to participate in the required training modules. Currently, most of the training is designed with text-based manuals, traditional PowerPoint presentations and lengthy outdated videos. You have been reading and researching new ways to engage your learners in all of your instructional design publications. I have reached out to your professional learning networks to see what other IDs are doing to engage their learners. What current instructional design trend/proven strategy will you implement into your training program to engage your learners?

RESEARCH My research included watching Ted talks about motivating employees. What are good approaches to motivate the employees to learn. Make the training fun, ie popcorn, interactive talks that make the employee feel included in the training goals. Helps with team building among the co-workers/different departments. I wanted my video to be fun and upbeat to make the learners interested. Not a long approach, more here we go this is going to be fun, you are going to learn and it is going to be a modern instructional design approach through Powtoons creation. (continued)
