Hello Sarah magazine viewers; I am so happy to announce that we have made it to two years. PRAISE GOD! It wasn’t easy, but I stood on God’s word. That is why this anniversary issue is called STAND. This has been a rough year. I didn’t think I would be able to keep this magazine coming to you, BUT GOD, kept telling me to keep going. My physical body had been attacked with illness and it was some days I didn’t think I was going to be able to do anything. I was from one specialist to another, not knowing what was going on with my body. Neither could any

of the doctors I was seeing tell me anything, they saw what was happening to me but had no diagnosis. I began to shut down and become depressed about my situation. Finally it hit me! THIS IS AN ATTACK OF SATAN TO KEEP ME FROM MOVING FORWARD IN WHAT GOD TOLD ME TO DO. We all know that the devil will throw all kinds of obstacles in your way to keep you from moving forward. People began to come at me in a negative way. It was comments made about the magazine in a hurtful way. I began to get discouraged, and back away from the magazine. I stopped doing it every month and began with every

other month. My thoughts were that eventually it would just fade away and no one would ask any questions about Sarah magazine. That was my plan, BUT GOD, had another plan.

He began to show the vision he had given me in the beginning about this magazine. This magazine is a ministry; it’s here to help others who are in the same situation I was in. I got caught up in what man was telling me I should do and how I should charge people a lot of money to place an ad. The purpose of Sarah magazine is to help those who didn’t have a lot of money. Well needless to say I had to go back to what He told me to do.

Now here’s where the stand came in to play. After I did what he told me to do that’s when the illness hit, the negative comments about the magazine were circulating. In midst of all of that, my finances were attacked! Okay God you’re telling me to do all of this, I don’t have the money, the strength, and I’m feeling real discouraged at this point. Have you ever been there? You’ve exhausted everything you know to do and nothing is working. I didn’t think this magazine would make it to two

years. I wanted to give up, and that’s exactly what the enemy wanted me to do. I kept praying, it was one day I was listening to a gospel station on Pandora, still pondering on what to do. As I was sitting there feeling so overwhelmed, that’s when the song came on with Pastor Donnie Mcclurkin singing STAND. God has his way of getting his message to you, that’s when I knew that God wanted me to take a stand against the evil things attacking me and stand no matter what! Through sickness, heartache, and discouragement, I’M STILL STANDING. By the grace of God I’m still standing! When I realized that I had made it to a second year, all I could do was PRAISE GOD. It was no question in my mind that the anniversary issue had to be called STAND. As always I want to encourage you to keep going when all the odds are against you. Don’t’ fall, STAND. I pray that this issue will encourage you to keep going. Sarah has made it another year and will continue until God says stop. A few people gave some encourages words about the magazine. It really blessed me to know that I am helping people through the articles, with their businesses and their ministries. We

For this, our second anniversary of SARAH Magazine, I would like to give all the glory and honor to Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for giving the vision to our Chief Editor and Creator, Minister Sheree Carradine.

This publication has been a blessing for many of our subscribers and a continued source of inspiration for the magazine team.

Okay, here is an example of faith. You know that there will be a church service on Sunday.

Why? Because you know there will be one.

Without even thinking about it, you know that there will be service on Sunday. That, my friend, is faith…the certainty that something will happen.

Now, take that situation you are in right now.

Dr. Theresa Buckner How to Stand as a Modern Day Believer.

When we think of the word STAND, there are many different ways that we can perceive this word. One way to view this word would be standing on our feet, rather than sitting or lying down. The focus of this 2nd Anniversary Edition of Sarah Magazine is to “Stand”. I would like to start out giving a definition of stand based upon the Webster’s dictionary.

Webster defines the word stand as the following: “To be upon the feet, as an animal; not to sit, kneel or lie; to be erect, supported by the roots, as a tree or other plant. Notwithstanding the violence of the wind, the tree yet stands. To be on its foundation; not to be overthrown or demolished; as, an old castle is yet standing; to be placed or situated; to have a certain position or location. Paris stands on the Seine. London stands on the Thames; to remain upright, in a moral sense; not to fall; to become erect; To stop; to halt; not to proceed.”

but all appear to point to being erect in an upright position, stationary, and being placed at a position for a purpose. The word “Stand” is very broad and can be used within every area of our lives. Therefore, defining what we mean about “Stand” is necessary for proper communication and the edification of those that we communicate with.

The Bible contains many verses pertaining to the word “stand”. There are times when God instructs us to stand still and watch His salvation be brought about within our lives. When God gives us this instruction, He is pointing out that His salvation, which can also be rendered deliverance, is about to unfold within and throughout the many situations and circumstances that we may be facing. As many of us may know, God’s salvation plan for us is not just a onetime occurrence, but it is a lifelong process, as He continues to deliver us from situations and circumstances that continue to arise within our lives. As we continue to develop a more deeper and intimate relationship with Christ, many trials and afflictions arise as a testing of our faith. However, God has promised that He will continue to deliver us from the schemes of the enemy, who roars There are many other definitions for this word, about like a lion to steal, kill, destroy, and

seeking those whom He may devour.

Within Ephesians 6, God reveals to us that we are to put on the whole armor by faith that He has provided for us as believers. In verse 13, the Bible records that we are to put on this armor so that we can withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. God instructs us how, we as believers are to stand in an evil, perverse, and corrupt world. The first portion of this instruction is that we put on the full armor that He has provided for us. The full armor consists of the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the belt buckle of truth, our boots planted in the Gospel of peace, our shield of faith to extinguish off the fiery darts of the enemy, and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. We are then instructed to send up all kinds of prayers unto the LORD. After we have done all of these things, Ephesians 6:13 says to stand!

Now that all of this information has been put before us, we may now be able to answer the question: How does a current day believer stand? We are to put on the full armor of God, send up all kinds of prayers unto Him, and stand still to see the salvation of the LORD. Now some of you may be thinking that there is more to it than this, and that we must do something more than what has been written here, thus far. My response to this thinking is that there really isn’t. God has not given us armor that will not assist us in going through any trials, situations, or circumstances that we are facing. Following is a breakdown of what it means to put on the full armor, and what it requires of you to be fully suited with it.

I always start with the Helmet Of Salvation, because it guards the head. Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus. The helmet guards the mind, and

as we put on the mind of Christ we are taking captive, and pulling down every thought and imagination that raises itself up against the knowledge of God. As believers we are to renew our mind (Romans 12:2) to begin to think as Christ thinks, and obtain the thoughts of God. This is done by spending time with God in His Word. If I can get the Word of God flowing within my mind, eventually it will get into my heart. Have you heard the saying, “that which you focus upon is what you will become?” Through reading and studying God’s Word, I am being transformed by the renewing of my mind (Romans 12:2). I am putting on the mind of Christ. I verbally put on the helmet of salvation and declare and decree Philippians 2:5 over my life.

The next portion of armor that I add is the Breastplate Of Righteousness. In a physical sense, the breastplate covers the vital internal organs that are necessary for life sustaining purposes. One particular organ that the Bible speaks of is that of guarding the heart.

Proverbs 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life. This particular verse speaks about keeping/guarding our hearts as the issues of life flow from it. We are commanded by Jesus not to allow our hearts to be troubled (John 14:1), and to love the LORD God with all of our heart, our might, and our soul. We are also to love our neighbors as ourselves. The heart of humanity can lead us unto destruction or unto the path of righteousness.

It all depends upon what we are feeding our brains that eventually penetrate our hearts. If we are transforming our minds with the Word of God by putting on our helmet of salvation representing the mind of Christ, our hearts will eventually be transformed as well. The breastplate of righteousness is such an important piece of our armor needed to be able to stand, for it guards our heart from the troubles of this world. It keeps the situations, trials, afflictions, and circumstances from penetrating our heart.

Then we are able to continue to love God, ourselves, and our neighbors regardless of what we are facing. As we continue to breakdown the armor and how it helps us to “STAND” in the face of adversity, I pray that you are being inspired and encouraged no matter what you are going through. At the end of the war, WE WIN! The next piece of the armor is the Belt Of Truth. The belt of truth covers a very important place that represents where one’s strength lies. In the mid-section of the body also known as the core, this is where the power of our life is. It is also the place where our seed/fruit of the womb is conceived. The belt of truth placed over this area keeps us faithful unto God, our spouse, our future spouse, and/or maintaining a Godly lineage of children when following the Word of God. As we put on the belt of truth, our power, strength, cleanliness, and faithfulness is protected. We will not discuss the moral impurities that can come from not applying this specific piece of armor within this article, but I will say that it is a necessity in “Standing”. So far, we have guarded our minds, hearts, and loins.

The next piece of armor is that of our boots planted in the Gospel Of Peace. In order to be planted, we must be rooted. Every time that we hear the Word of God, seeds are being planted, and previous planted seeds are being watered. The Gospel that we are to be planted in is that of Jesus Christ. The Prophet Isaiah prophesied about the birth of Christ and made known that He would be the Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6 for unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. The Gospel of Peace is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are to stand on the Word of God, which all points towards Jesus Christ in both the Old and New Testaments. As we walk planted in the Gospel of peace, we are at peace knowing what God has spoken from putting on the mind of Christ and renewing our minds (helmet of salvation), trusting God completely with our lives and hiding His Word in our hearts (breastplate of righteousness), walking faithfully and being morally pure (belt of truth), and being at peace with all that God has revealed in His Word concerning us in His plan of salvation (boots planted in the Gospel of peace). We are more than halfway through the process of how to “STAND” according to the will and Word of God. The next piece of armor would consist of the Shield Of Faith to ward off the fiery darts of the enemy. Faith is such an integral part of our being and our ability to continue within our Christian journey. Hebrews 11:6 but without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and

that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. This particular verse points out that without faith it is impossible to please God. We must come to Him knowing that He is. The very basis of our salvation relies upon our ability to trust and believe God is….that He exists, that He is who He says He is, that He is not a liar, that He is our Father, that He will deliver us, that He will heal us, that He will save us, and the list goes on! We must have faith! Without faith, the other parts of the armor does not really apply, because if we do not believe in God we cannot appropriately accept and apply the gifts that He has given us, namely in this article His armor which enables us to “STAND”.

Therefore, as I apply the Helmet Of Salvation, Breastplate Of Righteousness, Belt Of Truth, and boots planted in the Gospel Of Peace, I need the shield of faith to protect me from the fiery darts of the enemy that may cause me to question my salvation, question my belief system, question God’s faithfulness, question God’s presence and providence within my life, and question God being true to His Word.

Now we will look at the Sword Of The Spirit, which is the Word of God. Here we see that the sword of the Spirit is two-edged or double-edged meaning that it can cut two ways with one swing! The Word of God is one of our most powerful pieces of armor as it separates the soul and spirit, the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Ephesians 6 instructs us to send up all kinds of prayers. Throughout our day as we have put on our full armor, we are to be in communication with God. There are different types of prayers and different prayer forms. Prayer is an area that many believers struggle in, because they feel that they do not know how to pray appropriately. The LORD taught me to pray His Word. One reason for praying God’s Word is that we do not pray amiss. We are not asking for anything outside of His revealed will, but according to His will for us. The books of Psalms and Lamentations contain excellent examples of prayers that believers have prayed out to God. Other Scriptural passages contain prayers that other biblical characters have prayed when faced with situations and circumstances. Prayer should not be something laborious, but something done out of joy and considered a privilege that our Creator God allows us to communicate with Him, and He communicates back to us in various ways. One of the key ways of building a closer and intimate relationship with God is through prayer and of course spending time in His Word.

Now we are going to wrap up this article, as it is not my intention to provide information overload. My purpose is to equip, inspire, and educate the men and women of God within the Kingdom of God. By now, we should know “How to Stand as a Modern Day Believer.” We are to put on the full armor, pray, and STAND still to see the salvation of the LORD. I have presented to you the steps necessary to continue to be an overcomer within a fallen, dark, and perverse world. Some of you reading this

may see this as a reminder, while others may learn something new to put in your arsenal. No matter what, STAND strong in the LORD and the power of His might by putting on the full armor. I am praying for you and yours Kingdom blessings and success.

God has given us ten toes, two feet and two legs. These are the gifts God has given us, as He created us in His image to “stand”.

There are different ways to “stand”. You have your literal sense of standing, such as in the House of the Lord, opening prayer and the reading of the Word of God. We “stand” as a sign of reverence and respect to our Creator.

The term “stand” may also be coined when faced with adversity in our lives.

We must “stand” on our belief in God and the words sent to us through the Holy Bible, as well as the prophets who were blessed with the gift of interpretation of the Bible to explain to us, the people.

Within adversity are the trials and tribulations God has saw fit to test us with.

The expectation for us is to take heed to His teaching and “stand” on them.

Believe that every hardship is a test and God has equipped us with the ability to “stand” through it all. He has said that He wouldn’t put no more on us than we can bear.

Hello everyone, How are you all doing? My name is Caroline, and I enjoy traveling. I love the travel industry so much, that I was thinking of going back to College. Then one day my husband came home from work, and told me that he had this wonderful business opportunity to tell me about. What was it all about? He told me about a travel business opportunity.

The next day he introduced me to our friend and business partner. I viewed a video about the travel business and I was blown away by what I saw! Everything I was looking for all in one place. At that moment I thought that God had answered my prayer. This business gave me the opportunity to work from home. I learned all that I needed to know about the travel industry, in the comfort of my home at my own pace, while raising our 5 wonderful children. I thank the Lord for this business.

While on a bus trip, a lady who sat next to me asked: „miss I don‟t mean to be nosey, but why do you look so happy and so relaxed?‟ I replied: „it‟s my job.‟ „She said „your job?‟ I told her that my job was to tell others how they could become a travel agent. I show them how they can go on cruises for free, and get paid for it.‟ I aroused her curiosity; she told me that she was „all ears.‟ So, I told her that I had been traveling for the past 3 months. My first trip was to Jamaica where I paid Can$298.00 (including airfare &taxes) for a 5 star, all inclusive hotel, transportation, and tours to many parts of Jamaica.

She looked looking at me intrigued, but skeptical. She asked me were else I had traveled and I told her I had a choice between Cuba for $199.00 (including airfare &taxes) all

inclusive, 5 - Star hotel, transportation and tour and Mexico Can$249.00(including airfare& taxes) all inclusive, hotel, transportation and tours. I chose Mexico. She asked about my experience in Mexico. I told her that Mexico was amazing; the people were very friendly. When we sat down for a seafood lunch, I had lobster for the first time.

As my friend and business partner said: “we are doing this all in the name of education”. As travel agents, we received the red carpet treatment, fitted for royalty. These trips are what the industry refers to as “Fam. Trips‟" It is an abbreviation for "Familiarization Trip". The purpose of the trip is to provide Travel Agents, like myself with information about: hotels, resorts, services, and country attractions. It is all part of the promotional plan in the tourism industry.

After listening with a look of awe, she said: „your passport should be stamped up; no wonder you are looking so good.‟ We chuckled.

Then she said: „where do I sign up for this business opportunity?

Two months later I flew to Ft. Lauderdale for a 5 day trip with some of my teammates for a Cruise convention. I had never attended a Puerto Vallarta, cruise convention or even been on a Mexico cruise ship before; what I found amazing was just been able to see all these big, wonderful floating hotels - that is what I call the cruise ships. I had a chance to step on one of these beauties. The only thing I could say was „Wow! Wow!‟ I used to just look at them in the magazines and on TV. Now I could say that I have been on not one, but two cruise ships and, they are so beautiful it was like you being in a home on water; you don‟t feel all that movement.

Travel agents had a tour of the ships; they were all beautiful. I went in the elevator; it was glass and marble. I saw myself in the glass floor.

After the tour, we had lunch - a four-course meal. What a life! At the convention we also learned about all the different cruises, and the various cruise ships – all sizes. I had so much fun last year that this year I‟m taking many of my teammates with me. I felt like a kid who got the biggest gift at Christmas time. I even got a nickname on my trips; they called me the photo Diva, and the Fam. Queen. One of the things I learned was that the travel industry was like a whole new world, waiting to be discovered.

When I was in Jamaica, while sitting in the Jacuzzi I reflected on my trips and the new knowledge, and experience. I said to myself: „this Carnival Liberty Cruise Ship is life; the good life,‟ as I looked around at all those people who paid

over $3000 dollars to stay in the same hotel in Jamaica for one Emerald Princess Cruise week. As a Travel Agent, all I paid Ship was $298.00. I felt blessed!

Our business is called YTB Travel Network of Canada but in the USA it is called First Travel Alliance. Our company was founded by a wonderful LIVING THE GOOD LIFE!! man; we call him “Coach” he is a Pastor. One of the things that he told us, was that he knew what it is like not to have money, so when he came up with this business idea, he just wanted to show others how they could travel with their family while earning an income. May God bless him! I had the opportunity to speak with him; he is a kind, down to earth man. He also said that he wanted to produce a lot of millionaires within our business; do you want to be one of them? Our business has two sides - the travel side, and the marketing side.

Other than travel, the reason why I joined this business was my desire to change my family‟s financial situation. Next year my family plans to go on a cruise, because my husband and I are putting on a single parent and family cruise at the end of June 2014. I am also putting on a Girlfriend Getaway to Jamaica which will include: the perfect self-care and well-deserved pampering, a tour in a cave, relaxing mineral bath, swimming with the dolphins, and climbing the Dunn‟s River Falls. COOKING WITH J.C JAZZED UP TUNA CASSEROLE A Simple Dish For Summer 2 boxes of tuna helper 5 cans of tuna in oil 2 cans Ortega green chilies (not hot) 1 ½ cup shredded American cheese 1 ½ cup Monterey jack cheese 1 ½ Tbsp. Lemon pepper ½ Tsp. Salt 1 Tbsp. Onion powder Boil noodles until tender.

Drain, rinse and pour into a large bowl.

Pour in seasoning packets that comes in the box of tuna helper. Drain, and add your cans of tuna. (make sure you get tuna in oil, it has a better taste to it) Drain and add in the green chilies.

Add 1 cup of both cheeses.

Add the lemon pepper, onion powder and salt. Mix all ingredients together.

Pour into a large casserole dish. You might need two dishes to prevent overflow. Sprinkle the remainder of the cheese on top of your casserole.

Cover with foil (make foil like a tent when covering the casserole so cheese doesn’t stick to it). Bake in oven at 350 for 30 minutes. Remove foil, turn oven to broil, cook casserole about 5 minutes under broiler until cheese browns.

KEEP AN EYE ON IT, IT BROWNS FAST! This serves about 6-8 people.

Serve this with a nice green salad, dessert, and lemonade. Recipe on the next page……

Green salad 1 head of Ice berg lettuce 1 bunch of fresh Spinach 2 large Tomatoes (sliced) 1 large Cucumber (sliced) ½ Red Onion (sliced in rings) Toss all ingredients together and top with your favorite salad dressing.

Strawberry sandwich dessert Purchase 6 Croissant Rolls.

1pint of fresh Strawberries 3 Tbsps. Sugar Cool whip in the can or tub.

Wash, drain and slice strawberries. Put in a bowl. Add sugar and mix together. Slice open the croissants, on bottom half, fill with the strawberries.

Put cool whip on top of strawberries.

Put the other half of croissant on top.

Chill in the refrigerator until you’re ready to eat it. THIS IS SOOO GOOD! GOOD OLE lemonade

French bread 1 Loaf of French bread, sliced, or you can slice it yourself. Spread real butter on it and top with parmesan cheese in the can, toast and serve with your tuna casserole.

Make 1 gallon of lemonade, you can make it fresh or make it from lemon juice. Sweeten it to your liking. Pour some of the lemonade in an ice tray.

Add fresh raspberries and a small slice of lemon to each square. Chill until you have ice cubes filled with raspberries and lemon. Add these cubes to your glass of lemonade. THIS SOOO REFRESHING!

When I asked them if they would honor me and be on the cover, I was so glad that they said yes.

Apostle West; he has a way of bringing the word and breaking it down to the understanding of the young and old. My God, when I first heard him preach, I was in awe! I love the preaching of Bishop T.D. Jakes and Bishop Noel Jones, they always have such a powerful word from God. I didn’t think you could find someone that preached like that here in the desert of Arizona.

Ladies and Gentlemen! You haven’t met APOSTLE JESSIE WEST! You have got to hear him preach! When I first heard him preach, it was over ten years ago. from the moment I walked through the doors of his church I could feel the power of the Holy

Spirit in there. When he opened his mouth to preach, that was all I needed to hear. I knew this was a true man of God. I have to be honest, my first thought was, Bishop Jakes and Bishop Jones are powerful preachers and I love them, BUT they AINT got nothing on this pastor. (Excuse my English, just keeping it real). My second thought was, this is my first time visiting this church, and I know if I come back the sermon won’t be as good. Well here it is 2013 and the word is still powerful every time he gets up to preach.

I’m not saying that there is no other good preachers here in Arizona, I’m sure there is, I’m just sharing about these two pastors.

Anybody that has set foot in Light house church and heard Apostle speak, they leave in awe as well.

Pastor Chauntell; she is just as powerful as Apostle; She has her own unique way of bringing the word. Very soft spoken, but when she gets up to preach, she is full of power! She has such a nourishing way about her with the women and children. She sets a great example of what a pastor’s wife

should be, a woman of elegance!

We have a lot of women who call themselves the Proverbs 31 woman and there are many of them out there. I say Pastor Chauntell fits it well.

When you put the two together, the best way to sum it up is….

Think of a good meal. Let’s just say a good steak well-seasoned, cooked just right. Now you need something to go with that steak to complete it. In most cases people order a baked potato with all the fixing on it. Once you eat something that good, you feel satisfied. You can’t wait to taste it again. That’s Apostle and Pastor Chauntell. They are like a good meal that you can’t get enough of.

They are two of the most anointed, loving, preachers, teachers, parents, leaders you ever want to meet. God’s hand is on their lives.

Apostle Jessie and Pastor Chauntell west were both born in Southern California. They have been married for 20 years and have four Children.

Local Young Lady, Alexys Rodgers, Wins The 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Tucson/Phoenix Title Alexys Rodgers of Tucson recently participated in the 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Tucson/Phoenix pageant competition that took place on Sunday March 17, 2013. Alexys was crowned 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Phoenix/Tucson after competing against a select group of phenomenal young ladies. As the 2013 Miss Pre-Teen Phoenix/Tucson crown holder, Alexys now has a bigger goal in mind…winning the National 2013 Miss Pre-Teen title.

The 2013 National Competition will take place in Orlando, Florida from December 11-December 16, 2013. Alexys will be competing, for her share of over $30,000 in prizes and specialty gifts that will be distributed to contestants. In her quest for the National title, Alexys will compete in modeling routines that include casual wear and formal wear. Most important, Alexys will display her personality and interviewing skills while interviewing with this year's National judging panel. Personality is the number one aspect that each contestant is judged on during all phases of competition.

Community businesses, organizations, and private individuals will assist Alexys in participating in this year's competition by becoming an official sponsor to her. Through sponsorship, Alexys will receive all the necessary training, rehearsals, and financial support which will allow Alexys to become a very confident and well-prepared contestant in this year's National Competition Pageant.

Even though I didn’t finish high school, I was able to obtain my G.E.D. After getting out of the army, I attended City College for a two year culinary program. Once college was completed, I worked in professional kitchens honing all of my skills Coming from a rich family history of chefs and bakers including my father, grandfather and great grandfather, as well as other family members. I have a huge amount of pride in my work. All my experience has allowed me to bring all of my skills together in food management.

My position as a Chef Instructor with Job Corps in Sacramento,
