YEAR 1

This year has been a breath of fresh air with our new Sherborne Way curriculum, our revamped teaching and learning and the children finally being back in school every day (for the most part!). I know I speak for all the Year 1 staff when I say it has been an extremely successful, fun and fabulous year!

The introduction of our enhanced provision has provided daily opportunities for the Year 1 children to grow, not only academically, but also socially and emotionally. We are certain that the children we have taught this year have developed their confidence, ambition, independence and resilience, but most importantly they have enjoyed every minute! Each Year 1 classroom is constantly filled with laughter, smiles and a positive energy that just cannot be put into words – the most wonderful learning environment.

Our learning journey has included a trip down the yellow brick road to visit Dorothy, a look into animal rescue with a visit from some furry friends from PAWs, our Little Chef’s series of healthy recipes, lots of fun dress-up days, whole school celebrations, house days, helping the environment and last, but by no means least, our hugely successful production of Pirates VS Mermaids! We worked together as a team to create a virtual production packed with catchy songs, dazzling dancing and amazing acting. All the proceeds will be given to United World Schools to continue to support our partner school in Cambodia which the children are so enthusiastic about – they cannot wait to help give other children an education just like theirs.

Thank you to the Year 1 teachers and teaching assistants who always go the extra mile to provide such a wonderful education for the children we teach and to the parents for your ongoing support, words of gratitude and excellent feedback. Jessica Deane
