STUDENT LIFE COUNCIL
The Student Life Council (SLC) is responsible for recommending campus-wide student life policies to the Vice President for Student Affairs, the President’s Executive Staff, and other groups that establish policies. Working along with faculty and staff, SLC is responsible for reviewing student handbook policies and registration of student groups as well as supervising many essential campus life committees.

The Shepherd University Peer Success Leaders (PSLs) are students who work with Shepherd University's Student Success Center and want to give back to support their peers. PSLs support students academically and socially through one-on-one meetings by sharing their personal experiences, tips, and strategies from a student perspective The PSL program began in 2021 and continues to grow! The Relay For Life of Jefferson County presented by Shepherd University is a lifechanging event that gives everyone in our community and across the globe a chance to celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease. The volunteers listed below helpled plan, organize, and execute a 12-hour event to raise funding for the American Cancer Society

RAM PANTRY VOLUNTEERS
The Shepherd University Ram Pantry was created with the goal to improve the wellbeing and health of our Shepherd Family by combating food insecurity The pantry offers food and basic needs to all current Shepherd University students and employees Volunteers open the pantry and closet then assist students as they FROP (free+ shop) for basic need items. The pantry and closet could not be available without the volunteers. They are essential to the operation.

Fraternity and Sorority Life at Shepherd (FSL) provides opportunities for students to foster academic excellence, leadership development, philanthropic services, and community engagement. Our ten chapters aim for excellence in all aspects of fraternal life by promoting the core values of service, philanthropy, brotherhood/sisterhood, and leadership. We are very pleased to showcase the accomplishments of these outstanding student leaders.
OUTSTANDING PANHELLENIC ASSOCIATION MEMBER
Olivia Gill, Delta Zeta
Olivia Gill has provided service to the Panhellenic Association for multiple years as an officer. This year after completing her term as President of Delta Zeta, she stepped into the role of Treasurer for Panhellenic where she planned multiple fundraisers and was diligent in managing group finances. She is also a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion as well as leadership development within the Panhellenic community. As one nominator said “she has so many great ideas, is always Panhellenic positive, and has truly given so much to this community.”
OUTSTANDING SHEPHERD FRATERNITY COUNCIL MEMBER
Jackson Reich, Phi Mu Alpha
Jackson Reich currently serves as the Shepherd Fraternity Council president. In this role he oversaw revisions to the constitution and has worked hard to try to foster fraternity unity. His efforts led to combined fraternity programs like Fraternity Fridays as well as improved communication and relationships among the chapters.

Jenha Trevathan has been an incredible asset to Sigma Sigma Sigma from the moment she joined. Jenha is the perfect example of incredible potential in a new member.

Tyler Furbee has been an outstanding member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and representative to the Shepherd Fraternity Council. His commitment and leadership is exceptional. He has been a leader in service for the chapter and is always positive.

Rachel Spates, Delta Sigma Pi
Rachel Spates joined Delta Sigma Pi professional business fraternity and since then has become a highly involved leader. This semester she serves as the chapter’s Vice President of Alumni Relations. She also was one of three brothers to attend the Northeastern LEAD Provincial Conference in Buffalo, NY. Rachel is a powerhouse. She is obtaining her MBA at Shepherd while also serving in the West Virginia Air National Guard. She always brings fresh and unique perspective to our executive team, helping to represent non-traditional and commuter students.

Anna Mooney, Alpha Sigma Tau
Anna Mooney is a senior Communications major and a sister of Alpha Sigma Tau sorority. She has also served as an officer of Panhellenic sorority who has led multiple philanthropy projects as well as served on the Relay for Life planning team. This spring Anna planned a women's empowerment event featuring six exceptional faculty and staff leaders. Her commitment to service and philanthropy are exceptional.

Katie Keckler, Sigma Sigma Sigma
Katie Keckler is a junior and a member of both Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority and Sigma Alpha Iota women's music fraternity and President of the Panhellenic Association, the governing board of all Shepherd social sororities. In addition to her leadership in Panhellenic and the Greek community, Katie has been a Shepherd ATeam orientation leader, a Resident Assistant, and a Shepherd student admissions ambassador, all while maintaining one of the highest grade point averages in the Greek community
CHAPTER PRESIDENT OF THE YEAR
Lillian Robbins, Sigma Sigma Sigma
Lillian Robbins has served as the president of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority for the past two years. She has been passionately dedicated to building a positive sisterhood for all of her members. She deals with issues immediately as they arrive with civility and a goal of strengthening the chapter She is an excellent student and role model This year under her leadership, Sigma Sigma Sigma has completed more than 1000 hours of community service, won the Greek Week spirit award, and generated more than $1,000 in philanthropy. Her members say that she has created a positive and welcoming environment in the chapter and helped the chapter grow back to its pre-pandemic membership levels

Logan King, Tau Kappa Epsilon
Logan King is a senior English major who has been on the Dean's list every semester. He is the president of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. During his tenure the chapter has regrown from five members to its current size of seventeen. In addition to the role of president, Logan has served as both service and philanthropy chairs of TKE He is also a Resident Assistant and an outstanding student who has been on the Dean's List for all of his time at Shepherd He has volunteered to assist with multiple trainings and programs including Consent Week initiatives and constantly models what it means to be a well-rounded, caring leader.

Katie Keckler, Sigma Sigma Sigma
As a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, Sigma Alpha Iota women’s music fraternity, and the President of the Shepherd Panhellenic Association, Katie is the true definition of a Panhellenic woman In each of her chapters, she holds at least one executive leadership position She is also involved with other organizations on campus and gives her all to each. Katie is also an exceptional scholar and student. She models leadership, responsibility, and commitment to helping others. As one of her nominators said, “There is no one more deserving of Greek Woman of the Year than Katie Keckler ”

Tristan Trigger
Tristan served as Secretary of the Accounting Club during 2023-2024. He was an active member for the Club by participating in the planning of the annual alumni dinner, tutoring students from the principles of accounting courses, designing Club apparel, helping with Shep-o-Treat and the White Hall Cafe He provided leadership by administering a food drive for the Jefferson County Ministries, volunteering to be the Relay for Life Accounting and Registration Chair for the Shepherd University Relay for Life event, and representing the Club at the Shepherd University Student Leadership Conference Tristan exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding Club member
Award Criteria: Presented to an outstanding senior; must be an active member of club; must have minimum 3 0 in major and overall GPA; must be a graduate of the current calendar year; and be selected by majority vote of active members
OUTSTANDING TRANSFER STUDENT LEADER
Erika Huff
Erika Huff is a senior English creative writing major with a minor is communications who will graduate this May (2024) She transferred to Shepherd from Hagerstown Community College and has been actively involved in many organizations while achieving academic excellence. She is a member of Tau Sigma National Honor Society and Sigma Tau Delta International English Honor Society. She works as a writing tutor in the Academic Support Center and is coleader for a spiritual group on campus called CRU After graduation, she hopes to work as a proofreader or editor In her own words: "I truly appreciate all of the wonderful opportunities that Shepherd University has provided me educationally as well as socially."
Award Criteria: The Tau Sigma Honor Society recognizes a Shepherd transfer student who has displayed exemplary leadership qualities, academic excellence, and service to other transfer students and the campus community as a whole

STUDENT-ATHLETE ADVISORY LEADERSHIP AWARD
Conner Brown
Conner has taken the initiative to connect and meet with members of the athletic leadership to share the opinions of SAAC and represent his fellow student-athletes He has single handily lead the charge to increase fundraising efforts on campus for Make-A-Wish, these efforts have raised over $800 as of early April. As a senior, Conner represented Shepherd University at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference SAAC meeting He has made a commitment to increase the presence of SAAC within the athletic department and on campus These are just a few examples of how Conner’s leadership has shined on our campus
Award Criteria: Collaboration and leadership, exemplary character and leadership, ethic commitment, sportsmanship, positive attitude and enthusiasm for SAAC and sport on and off the field/court
CARING RAM
Skylar Mansfield
Skylar Mansfield, the Event Planning Co-Chair for Rams Care, is a Nursing/Psychology double-major who has shown impactful support and advocacy on campus for students when it comes to mental health. Skylar shows resiliency, peer support, and empowerment. Rams Care recognizes Skylar for her hard work on breaking the stigma surrounding mental health.
Award Criteria: The student must present mental health advocacy on campus, as well as provide peer support to the students
SICC CIVILITY AWARD
Sophie White
Sophie promotes civility at Shepherd through her work in SAFE Though we are very adamant in our views, Sophie still respects others by allowing them to speak even though she may not agree. Sophie has demonstrated a strong sense of leadership by becoming Vice President during her freshman year. Amongst the executive board, Sophie is able to see everyone's view and is able to generate a civil conversation amongst the executive board
Award Criteria: The studetn must promote civility. Civility is characterized by the ability to engage in respectful interactions and to recognize the legitimacy of others’ views even in the face of disagreement

As a first-year student, Morgan took the initiative to join Wishmakers on Campus. She soon found her niche in leading some of the events and engaging with our Make-AWish® students.

Ryan Stroz
Ryan has gone above and beyond the call of duty through his effortless leadership and organization skills within Thacher Hall and Residence Life For example, Ryan facilitated the re-opening of Thacher Hall for the January semester and helped to lead training sessions for his peers. Ryan regularly volunteers for extra duty nights and effortlessly coordinates some departmentwide activities
Award Criteria: This award recognizes Resident Assistants or Hall Directors who consistently or notably exceed their job expectations in order to foster community and support student success Candidates are nominated by other staff members who recognize and appreciate their contributions to the residential community

Brooklyn Gholston
Brooklyn Gholston is a transformative student leader at Shepherd University, engaging with organizations and collaborating with leaders across campus to positively impact the community and culture every day Brooklyn is passionate about telling stories, connecting lived experience to gain understanding about social issues that impact our communities, both locally and globally. Brooklyn inspires the campus through her commitment to respect and creating spaces to empower the student voice This year Brooklyn played the lead role in organizing the first Black history speakeasy event on campus, collaborated with various groups to organize Earth Day initiatives, and represented as a panelist on the student success panel. Brooklyn currently serves as the president of the Multicultural Leadership Team, an officer on the Black Student Union, a student leader on A-team, as well as a member the Civility club and the Gender Sexuality alliance at Shepherd Brooklyn is a dedicated and compassionate leader, always thoughtfully organizing spaces and programs that create a welcoming environment for all students to feel a sense of belonging on our campus
Award Criteria: Award recognizes a student who epitomizes the qualities found in visionary leaders and community service heroes at Shepherd University

Michaela Hersom
Michaela Hersom is the president of the Shepherd Environmental Organization and an officer of the Multicultural Leadership Team Michaela has collaborated with organizations across campus to organize the Earth day and environmental justice initiatives this year to raise awareness about environmental impacts both locally and more broadly, that affect our communities. Micheala has worked with MLT, SEO, and the student affinity organizations to ensure a culture of respect on campus through programs and events that promote inclusion and belonging for all members of the campus community Micheala is an organized and ethical leader, committed to creating sustainable communities and programs on our campus
Award Criteria: The Affinity Leader Award recipient goes above and beyond to engage the campus community in action for social change, collaboration across affinity awareness, and promotion of an inclusive culture of respect on campus

Additionally, Camryn began an initiatve for our organization by providing menstrual products in every femlae identifying bathroom Additionally, this encouraged other facilities on campus to make menstrual products accessible for those who need them

Being only a first year student, Sophie has provided outstanding leadership skills in and out of this organization. She is willing to help in every way. They say it takes a village to raise a child Developing the 'village' is especially important in education as teachers come together to meet the needs of the students they serve and teach. Julia Bivens, a Math Education major, has served this year on the Literacy Leaders Committee to conduct an annual conference for area teachers who desire to improve their ability to teach literacy. Julia not only took this on, but did it while writing her senior project, the edTPA, and student teaching full time That takes true dedication to Literacy

Skylar McAllister can always be seen at the forefront when things need to be done This year she has overseen the Pen Pal program which matches Shepherd students to fourth graders in letter exchanges that provide an authentic platform for reading and writing as well as encouraging kids to do well in school and set a goal to go to college.

OLIVER S. IKENBERRY AWARD
Dr. Oliver S. Ikenberry served as President of Shepherd College for 21 years, from 1947 to 1968 These were years of expansion for all American higher education and important formative years for Shepherd College as well The institution grew in academic stature and breadth of program offerings It expanded substantially in enrollment and in acreage that provides the spacious campus Shepherd enjoys today. President and Mrs. Ikenberry were actively engaged with students, faculty, staff, and alumni and intimately involved with the community of Shepherdstown. Ikenberry Hall was named in honor of President Ikenberry’s service to Shepherd This award is designated for two students for “exemplary human service to Shepherd University as evidenced by campus leadership, community service, and overall achievement.”
