TRADITIONAL HALLS

Traditional Halls offer more options for those interested in our single-room experience. Restrooms are shared by roughly nine others living in a wing; each restroom has private stalls and showers with changing areas.

Shaw and Thacher Halls

Students in Shaw and Thacher Halls are typically assigned to two-person rooms, but students can request an individual room. Both halls have study lounges with kitchens on the second and third floors and vending machines in the lobbies. Free laundry facilities are located on the second floors. Shaw Hall is located on the west side of campus with a great view of the Shepherd University baseball diamond. Thacher Hall is located on the west side of campus and is right across from the beach volleyball courts.

SUITE-STYLE HALLS

Suites have lots to offer. With semi-private bathrooms and extra living space, you can feel at home.

Miller Hall

Miller Hall is located on the west side of campus and provides suite-style living, an intimate environment, and a tight-knit community. Miller has seven suites that each house four or five students with access to a shared hallway and lobby area. A full kitchen, vending machines, and free laundry—and the main office of Residence Life— are located on the ground floor of Miller Hall.

Potomac Place

Potomac Place is located on the west side of campus and provides housing for students at any stage of their Shepherd education. Riverside Market is housed on the first floor of the building, providing convenient access to dining services. Potomac Place also features several socialization areas in and around the building, along with access to the neighboring volleyball court.

West Woods

West Woods provides suite-style living in six buildings: Burkhart, Moler, Yost, Boteler, Lurry, and Martin Halls. Each building has three floors with four suites with exterior access on each floor. A suite consists of a living room, bathroom, and two bedrooms. Free laundry facilities are located in the West Woods Service Center on the ground floor of Boteler Hall. West Woods is conveniently located down the hill from the Suzanne Shipley Wellness Center. Martin Hall is reserved for students participating in the Honors Program.

APARTMENT-STYLE HALLS

The apartments provide a great opportunity for independent living. These halls feature a private bathroom, living room, and kitchen, and are available to upperclass and transfer residents.

reasons for choosing Shepherd, my reasons for loving it are the sports games, downtown Shepherdstown ambiance, and sense of community found on campus. ”
