With today’s astronomical advertising rates, it has become increasingly important for artists to seek editorial coverage in newspapers, magazines and online. Taught by Oriana Parker, a professional arts writer/ marketing expert, this workshop demonstrates how to write convincingly about your art in ways to attract the attention of overworked editors. Every student learns how to create an effective artist statement, fact sheet, and press release and are given a special workbook manual as well as current local newspaper/ magazine media lists. As a special feature, former art gallery/museum director David Tooker discusses how to use well-written press/website materials as a competitive advantage when seeking representation. Tooker also focuses on professional-looking digital images, pricing, framing and protocol considerations.
