Powers Music & Recording: Affordable Instruments, Full-Service Rentals, & Pro Studio
As band programs begin for the new school year, many students are picking up an instrument for the first time. Powers Music & Recording, which opened in August 2024, has quickly become a hub where musicians of all ages can find the tools, support, and inspiration to grow.
What started with fewer than twenty guitars has grown into a full-service music store offering guitars, band and orchestral instruments, keyboards, drums, merchandise, and a professional recording studio. In addition to its wide range of instruments, the shop provides lessons, repairs services, and a rental program designed to make participation in music accessible.
Owner Trent Powers built the business around affordability and access. “Kids shouldn’t be sidelined by a bad instrument or a high price. Our goal is to get them something dependable, at a cost that works for their family.” That philosophy shows on the sales floor, where quality instruments are available at a range of price points, and in the rental program, which allows students to take home a school-ready instrument right away. Every Each rental payment builds equity toward purchase, making it possible for a student to graduate with an instrument they can truly call their own.
Beyond the rental counter, Powers Music & Recording offers private lessons for guitar, bass, drums, and piano, as well as expert repair services for both band instruments and guitars. The in-house recording studio is fully treated for clean sound and equipped with Pro Tools—the industry standard for recording, mixing, and mastering. Musicians can book by the hour or day, and also find support in navigating copyright protections, distribution, royalties, and release strategies.
By keeping instruments, lessons, and recording services local, Powers Music & Recording makes it easier for students and musicians alike to explore their talents close to home. From a middle schooler learning their first notes to a band ready to lay down tracks, the shop is helping Mason County’s music scene hit all the right notes.
